I eat potatoes lots of them and I love them especially smashed potatoes I cook them the night before and let them cool in the fridge overnight this gives me resistant starch potatoes doesn't affect my blood sugars at all my 7 day blood sugar reading is 6.7 .
I use the Freestyle Libra expensive but does control my blood sugars this should be on the NHS but it won't because of the expense and I can test a 100 times a day if I wish
smashed potatoes are a potato which is boiled left to cool then pressed down flat then lightly olive oil a frying pan and gently cook them till they are crispy delicious
my meds are

Isulin fast and slow acting
Amiodarone
Indapamide
apixiban
cardioplan
atvorstatin
levoththyroxine
dapagliflozin
fenofibrate
ramipril
metformin

conditions are
diabetes 2
Edema
hiatel hernia
pernicious anemia
heart failure
Irregular heartbeat
pacemaker
high blood pressure
high cholesterol
I rattle when I walk

....Unpopular input most likely, but if you ditched the spuds entirely you might see some improvement, need less insulin, have better blood sugars, maybe lower your blood pressure some as well... Carbs retain water, could be the cause of your oedema. Just thinking. You might want to re-evaluate your diet sometime.

Or not. :)

When you say that the potatoes don't affect your BG, aren't you really saying that you are having the correct insulin bolus? Eating potatoes probably wouldn't have the same affect for those not on insulin.

Yes, that's an important distinction for type 2s, especially new type 2s. I'm pleased ecneps48 is able to enjoy his potatoes and I welcome his sharing, but if he is injecting insulin to deal with the carb load of the potatoes, he is doing something out of reach for the majority of type 2s

Yeah whilst I’m sure it’s not meant to, it comes across as a bit of a troll post. I’d rather skip the potatoes and avoid the much more life impacting situation of being on insulin

And the winner of best thread title goes to.......

Good to see you are enjoying your spuds. Goes to show that you are bolusing correctly for them.

Looking forward to reading the comments on this thread :)

Yeah, other then the OP stating they love potatoes, I'm not really sure what the point of the post is? Obviously getting the insulin dose right.

I'm not so sure about that Andydragon, the poster has been on the forum for over a year looking at previous posts. He sure likes potatoes though!

I am jealous. I love potatoes too. I rarely have them though as I am not on insulin...I have too much in my system already. Maybe one day if I can get my insulin resistance sorted. Well a girl can dream...

Well done on managing so many health conditions :)

this whole thread title and post seems like a "rubbing your noses in it" idea

However, I choose to eat very few potatoes and carbs, and I am medication free.

We all make choices.

I used to enjoy potatoes especially baked or little new Jersey ones with butter, but I haven't eaten any for over six years now as I prefer to keep the use of my eyes and hands to eating them.

My medications:
none for diabetes
2 for blood pressure

I'm ancient and decrepit but there's absolutely no sign of any rattles when I walk...:Do_O

Whether intentional or not. If it looks like a
duck, swims like a duck and quacks like a duck...
