Hadn't heard his name, Derek but did google him and he sounds a talented guy. I veered of into IT in the early 90s in search of promotions to feed Julie and boys. It worked and people seemed to think I was functional enough to join the illuminati - most of whom would have eaten themselves if they were chocolate but couldn't teach.Ian,
Do you know the historian David Ferriby? He lives locally and goes to our church.
D.
I just wondered, he and his wife dropped in this pm during a long walk they were having. We chatted in the garden, which was nice, we don't get many visitors during the current situation.Hadn't heard his name, Derek but did google him and he sounds a talented guy. @SaskiaKC Here are the links to some stately homes near where I live with pictures and their history. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxburgh_Hall https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blickling_Hall https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felbrigg_Hall@Krystyna23040 I wonder if you could help me find some pictures of houses online please? I have been reading some novels (set in the present day) in which someone visits a stately home or other old country house that is described as being a blend of architectural styles added over the centuries.
I have tried to Google pics but haven't found anything. The idea of such a house fascinates me so I thought I would ask you if you know of any real ones.
I hope Archie's paw will be all right.

They all belong to the National Trust now and it is lovely walking around their gardens and parkland with the dogs.
We are off to the vet tomorrow afternoon. His paw is definitely still not right. We took the bandage off and put a sock on as directed and he demolished the sock so now he has all the bandages back on . When Poppy went for her walk he sat by the door and cried as he so loves his walks. Even a pigs ear didn't placate him.
That is really funny. Very sad to say that it took me a few seconds to 'get it'.Surely your not expecting Poppy to make silken purses?![]()
Welcome to this corner of the forum, although not so the reason you find yourself amongst us struggling to understand and beat our Diagnosis, it ain't easy, fun or successful much of the time but folks here make things easier with the support. Pasta puts you in the highs, bread does it for me, Potatoes for others and so on, big learning curve ahead. The great thing is you are on the case.7.1 this morning. Not diagnosed yet, waiting on blood tests, but blood glucose rarely below 6, and goes up to 15 when I eat pasta. So fatigued all the time, which interferes with work.
Feeling pretty rubbish, and concerned, especially about how I pass out after dinner.
Glad I found this thread, cheered me up some this morning.
You eat the cake and enjoy. This woe is barren enough. I'll deal with the Brandy. Neat if it is a good one or in coffee otherwise. Excellent episode of Minder having a haircut all about that.Finished the watercolour I started yesterday, A4 about 2 hours mainly fiddling with the Beech Trees.
Son turned up with the Christmas Cake he's been making for us, I dare not look at it never mind eat it. It's 12" across, 3" deep and the ingredients so rich I think it will stay preserved for ever, over 1 kilo of fruit and Brandy, don't ask! We have to soak it in brandy ever few days according to son, he even gave us a bottle of brandy to do it with, marzipan, sorry @ianpspurs no cake for you, and icing. I think I may be in for some Christmas High BG readings, unless I resist. Apparently he's made 8 even for his ex, mom of granddaughters.
I will resist, I will resist, I will resist, I will...............
PS When son was 8 he could not decide if he wanted to be a Cheff or a Farrier, he's a Farrier.![]()
That is going to be really difficult as the cake sounds as though it will be really delicious. You could of course just drink the brandy.I will resist, I will resist, I will resist, I will...............

Feed the cake with Brandy but nice artwork for an old soakWhoops forgot to post watercolour...![]()
Thanks, so. Is a very good Cheff I'm always impressed how quickly he can provide a tasty meal even for large numbers, and his kitchen always seems tidy. I can cook but do like to get into a mess.It sounds as though your son would have been just as successful if he had chosen to be a chef instead of a farrier.

Step away from the software and sketch pads we're done for the century.

4.2 this morning
Sunday again, another lunch with mum
tried my hand at making LC custard again, made with egg yolk and a mixture of water and double cream instead of milk, sweetened with truvia, flavoured with vanilla and caramel. Bit of a faff but it turned out really well, (and nobody realised it was LC).
Hope your day is treating you well
