4.8 today

not a bad day here but quiet, I got my sweater finished and hemmed up two pairs of trousers for mr gee. We didn't go over to mum's today because we already have her shopping list, we were over there yesterday because Katy needed her annual checkup and booster shot at the vets ;)

Treasure trove today, I found half a box of homemade rum and raisin ice cream in the freezer so we ate it after dinner :D

Plumbing, hmmm less said the better. However floor is progressing and fitter says it should be finished Wednesday.

Two nice pieces of art from you. The angel on the tree looks crocheted to me and those clouds are excellent. I do like the sketch a nice traditional feel to tha tree.
 
Today's Advent poem selection from Malcolm Guite is Kenosis by Luci Shaw. The last few day's poems have been dealing with Kenosis and to some extent we've been kicking that about today IMHO. The artists amongst you may like the artwork and the artist's explanation. I quite like the idea of Kenosis in my/our own little way. Here is where I'm at: being here, dealing with this WOE in a way which disrupts Julie’s life as little as possible isn’t up there with either the Christian understanding of the life and purpose of Jesus or the self emptying of Hayden’s, or my own, father or Key workers. But my understanding is that is the challenge I’m given. I needs be pleased to accept. I'm quite enjoying Advent with these poems. Different to an Advent calendar but more long lasting.
Psalm 39 V 15: O spare me a little, that I may recover my strength before I go hence, and be no more seen. Psalm 40 V 20 As for me, I am poor and needy but the Lord careth for me
Slightly less selflessly, today's research involves a guy called Courvoisier - he could be after our fish:angelic:

This morning Mrs J has informed me that she will be going to a garden centre and me and me's are not allowed to join her, Mrs J has an agenda and apparently does not want interference......more Christmas tat grrrrr.

Well have as good day as you can, my tasks are " laid " out and will not be picked up, no supervision wins hehehehe.

Thought I had lost one of Marjorie's Fabia keys in the week. I looked all over the place and could not find it and got into serious trouble!:)
Tonight I found it in the boot of my Octavia, where I must have dropped it and it slipped under the cover for the bottom of the boot.

Phew, that saved me a shed load of money, these keys can be a rip off to replace.

I mentioned a few days ago I am writing and illustrating a book for my youngest grandaughter. Time is the main character, being older than time itself he is tired and takes a year off and chaos reigns. It all end happily with the help of mighty oaks but I have been struggling with the character time, needed to be old, grand but not scary, grandaughter can't take scary. I have done all of the story boards but time's been difficult. So tonight I did a quick sketch of time he will be dressed in a purple cloak that flows around the legs and becomes tattered and fades into the landscape. I am posting the quick sketch asking do you think this character too frightening or can I run with it?

How old is your granddaughter? I wouldn't think that character would be too scary for most children from say 3. The wand has an interesting looking flower.

She is 5, need to do some improvements as the flower is supposed to be the sun :joyful: but thank you I will post the completed Mr Time when I have painted him. In the book.
 
Good Morning and 5.7 for me today.

Another day of floor fitter crawling around our house but he says today he will be finished. I get to escape to collect a new full size single bed for my 5 year old grandaughter which should take the Morning. At least the VW camper van is getting some use. :)

Keep safe, Embrace the day the best you are able.

The sky is brilliant in your painting.
You have some a very long way with your skies since you first started posting the watercolours. Your skies are amazing and reflect the skies I see from my garden, and when driving.

Time has a careworn but kindly face @Muddy Cyclist
You say granddaughter is 5. I think the character is perfect for her.
I am guessing that features in the face probably reflect one or more family members. (My daughter illustrates children's books for others , and I can tell who every illustrated character in the books are based on).
Run with with your character.
 
Binmen are certainly making a racket this morning. Up and at 'em with a straight 6.0 ;)

I need to take a walk into the village later but first coffee calls before Asda calls, enjoy the day :)

Fbg 6.2

I started this iPastel digital painting last night. I had wanted to do waves for a few days. J was the one who painted the sea, water, rivers, ponds, and waves. J's waves are always calming peaceful scenes (apart from one in his whole lifetime, which I now have). My waves are never calm, never peaceful, never serene. When selling artwork, J's were the waves that always sold, never my tumultuous ones.

I still do not paint calm, peaceful, serene, healing waves.

I woke up for the bathroom last night, and had a quick peek at my waves I had begun. A wee little mistake that was, because for the next 4 hours I was working. Actually the word 'work' suggests the wrong meaning, because I was 'playing' with the waves. I was totally engrossed for the next 4 hours...and remembering all the things J did to create his waves, and also what he taught me.

Finally I settle down to go back to sleep, and cat, who had been very good up until then and had toddled off to do a spot of radiator hugging, came back in and said 'WAKE UP'. He head butted me, he clouted my face with his paw, and in his paws was every ounce of the strength in his body as he was standing on my chest. A cat can cause bruises by not even doing anything to you, just by standing on you.

Sigh. I gave up on sleep. I got back up, and he sat beside his bowls of food. He has 5 bowls. One has his cat yoghurt in, one has the Felix soup in, one has a more meaty cat food in, and two bowls of different types of dried food. I don't put a lot in each bowl, and with him being 28 years old, I always want to make sure he does eat. He has fussy days where he will eat one lot and not another. All the bowls were just about empty. I went to the bathroom, washed them all and dried them, clean kitchen towel on the floor. And replaced everything. He had a taste of everything to check it was to his satisfaction, and has now gone back to radiator hugging.

You put so much work into that demo, sorry it didnt bring the result you wanted.

MrSlim woke me, but then went back to sleep. Could feel the DP, so got up, fed cat, breakfast, coffee for me, tea for MrSlim, who might be asleep. Started computer. It's a quiet occupation. Except mouse has died overnight so nothing is happening. Mouse had a new battery yesterday afternoon. Did all the usual on and off, battery in and out, different battery. Get a fleeting light, but no cursor.:arghh:.
Yesterday was sunny, but freezing cold, managed a short walk with my parents, when I took washing to launderette. All clean and sweet smelling on return, but many socks are smaller and one t-shirt has expanded widthways.
(Predictive text altered that to expanded birthdays) seems a pleasant idea, more time to celebrate.
Wishing you all a reason to celebrate something today.
