good evening all :)

4.8 today

and here we all go into lockdown :(

we're currently in level 1 but will be going into level 4 lockdown from Midnight on Christmas day along with everyone else (except the offshore islands, they get level 3 :sorry:).

good job the new internet hub has arrived ;)

Now to catch up on the posts I've missed :)

Hope your day is treating you as kindly as you could wish :)

@Alien Aspie - an interesting image, to me very much representative of the duality we all inhabit :) I like the feather effect you've achieved in the foreground very much :)

@dunelm - your image feels just right for a 'day in ...' only in my case it reminds me of a day on Coniston Water ;)

@gennepher - I think your trees have worked well and the light really brings the composition alive :)

art bit -

this was my try at painting one of those days where the light made the contrasts quite stark and washed out the wintry colour.

Advent poem today is another of Malcolm Guite's own based on today's O Antiphon. O Radix Jesse. I like this part of his explanation: "the root of all goodness, wherever it is found and in whatsoever culture, or with whatever names it fruits and flowers, a sound tree cannot bear bad fruit" and his comment elsewhere about the temptation to put the name of one's God on a flag and bash everyone else with it. He feels "The Church" is far too guilty of that. Certainly that vibe has been expressed by one or two posters here. Enjoy the poem and any hazardous research you undertake before, during after or instead of.
Thank you for posting the link again. I have enjoyed these poems and admired the illustrations.

And jolly cold and dismal day you have made it feel, well caught atmosphere.

Hug for Tier 4, we remain in Tier 3 but not seeing family or friends so not much different to 4.

A Methodist Minister friend tells me CofE have said it's OK now to sing outside and so is having a Carol Service in the church car park. We shan't be going but it may mean we can get a West Gallery sing in outside someplace before Christmas, I await to hear from our Quire, yes spelt right, master.

That is so interesting. I thought everyone would find it horrible and had no idea that so many of you find it ok.
OK? Standing order for this. I don't use it in water anymore. Vinaigrette, in bone broth or stock cubes as a hot drink. We are all different. I couldn't eat Montezumas so score draw,

Yes, churches did one locally in a carpark last weekend and I think 200 attended.

It rained very heavily today so all birding was through quickly opened and shut windows.
There was a rainbow on one occasion that was practically complete. One end seemed to reach the Scottish shore and other was on the English side. If I had a wide angled lens I could have recorded the event.
I suggested to the duchess it could be a metaphor for peace and unity between Nicola and Boris!

FBG came in at a hefty 9.2 this morning at 5am ...entirely due to my over indulgences sat takeaway in work and we have been given loads of chocolates and who can say no ...not I for sure ! I'll put some of it down to the stress of listening to lockdown news why the hell we have gone back into lockdown from midnight ( sat ) instead of waiting till Christmas eve none of us can fathom.

Morning all.
Special sympathy to those in the new Tier 4 areas. Hope these overdue restrictions do work. We should have used the suggested October half-term circuit-breaker.
Need some circuit-breakers myself. FBG 9.1 mmo/lt at 0630hrs. Switching to G + T (diet) instead of strong lager for a few days. Double the exercise plus 12 hour overnight fast. Already on LCHF diet with about 30g of carbs/day.
Next step may be to take Metformin at breakfast as well as dinner Anyone else doing this?
Have a good Sunday, as best you can.

Me neither @mojo37

It just caused total panic. Christmas Eve was good enough for a beginning to lockdown. We still knew we had to get a few things in, in the next few days before Christmas. And I had planned on Monday to get a few so called non-essential essentials for me.

I bet old Mark doesn't have to do without essentials which he terms as non-essentials.

There was an exodus of cars going out of my road after that announcement. They had until midnight to get what they needed.

I bet that increased the Covid infection rates...

Exactly its caused even more upset, stress and chaos we don't get paid ( NHS ) till tomorrow and lots of staff leave their last minute Christmas presents and food shop till then so this has caused a lot of unnecessary stress. It's like each of the 4 governments are upping the ante to " outdo " each other . So much for all working along the same lines ! And yes I know things change re this swine of a virus but this is crazy, pre Christmas now back to long queues outside the shops and all the hassle once inside .

Thanks @geefull - brrrh! It looks cold there. A hug for level 4 but I fear that we may be joining you at some point.
