What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

This is quite worrying about the Delta variant:
The calls for caution come at a time when research in Australia indicates just how easily the Delta variant can potentially spread. Based on CCTV footage, health officials suspect it has been transmitted in “scarily fleeting” encounters of roughly five to 10 seconds between people walking past each other in an indoor shopping area in Sydney in at least two instances.
July 19?
Sounds worrying - so, canoodling in your office is a no then?

Morning all - no amount of Boosterism could make this a good one. Weather only a mother could love. Swipey felt a 5.3 punishment beating was needed. Crunch time for me and LC this week. Bloods today. Trust hanging by a thread, actually I am beginning to wonder if it is damaging more than helping. Perhaps I will be proved wrong, feelings aren’t reliable, then come on here to eat a huge slice of humble pie (LC obviously). Don’t hold your collective breath. Then bang on cue today's NT reading was Romans 14.13-end:woot: Great art @gennepher / Popeye. Two good pieces @dunelm - we have 2 slightly larger fridge raiders nearby and the third will be here in July - not so much eat as hoover. Interestingly, at home they do the cooking. Tinkety Tonk Old Fruits.
Interesting one, Ian.
Funny old world was Rome!

I wouldn't have fancied my meat, after it had been slaughtered in one of those temples to a Roman deity, then sold in the market after being kicked around and warmed by the Roman summer heat, but its the other guys choice or not, like special days.

Sounds a little like buying a dead bat from a chinese wet market!

Apparently, according to an Australian doctor John Campbell interviewed, it just takes seconds to pass the variant on.

By the Autumn probably all will have had the variant cast a shadow on us. Lets just hope the Grim Reaper has lost his sickle!

A reasonable hypothesis is that Long Covid will be rife. Never mind, we've got The Saj, as self defined.

good morning all :)

4.6 yesterday and 4.3 today

a fine and bright morning following a lovely warm and mostly sunny day yesterday. mr gee and I got quite a lot of grass cut and a bit of hedge trimmed at Mum's after dinner yesterday :)

On not such a happy note the little automatic air freshener thing in the hall has thrown a wobbly overnight and the whole house reeks of freesia, (not a favourite scent of mine and definitely not in this quantity :sorry:) so it's batteries have been removed and my door and windows are all open :D it's only supposed to gently perfume the air once every 20 mins when it's turned on not fumigate the whole house every 2 minutes :hilarious:

Lots of visitors about in the village in the good weather the last couple of days, I agree @ianpspurs it's worrying with the delta variant on the go, we're already heading for as many cases in the Highland area as we had at the start of the lockdown period in January :(

Now to catch up on the posts I've missed :)

Hope your day is treating you well :)

@ianpspurs - good luck for your blood tests :)

@SlimLizzy - sounds as if things are getting more settled, have a hug and my sympathy for the roof problems, the period where we were waiting for our roof to be repaired and reslated felt as if I was holding it on with my teeth every time we had a high wind :sorry:

@Saman1 - welcome :)

@gennepher - I like your Shan Shui painting, very effective, the contrast between the colourful and strong mountains and the delicate bubbling water is lovely, and there is Popeye the intrepid of course ;)

@dunelm - glad your son's project is off to a flying start.
Two lovely heron paintings, though quite different, the first is full of colour and texture and the second of your skillful and sparing brushwork :)

art bit - just a calm and sunny day :)
painted on Hahnemuhle Britannia

Hug for #freshnergate but winner for the wonderful art. Thanks for the good wishes. I'm hoping a full blood count and lipids will show LC may not manage my bg well but isn't too harmful overall. Lipids have been the consistent star of the show until now.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and good luck to those facing medical tests and procedures today, tomorrow and into the future.

A 5.9 this morning on that meter of mystery and unpredictability.

Well glancing at the posts today it seems the gloom and doom mongers are having a field day over variants, all of this was predicted in the being by the duo Whitty ( check spalling ) & Van Tam, some variants will be benign and some malignant, so let's not dwell on the negative, but be grateful we woke up this morning, give thanks to whatever deity you choose and take precautions, remembering also that if you are playing away from home avoid cameras, hidden or not.

Me and me's have been informed that I will unsupervised for part of day, also that if don't do a better job of the washing up I will be told to use the dishwasher more frequently......

This early evening we are having a Indian takeaway with my girlfriend number 5 and her 92 year old husband to celebrate her 90th birthday, a fantastic achievement for a fantastic lady who over many years has contributed so much to the area.

Well fellow posters, painters and gamers heads up and remember the stays especially the stay away from the media, also if you are in the Reading area wear ear defenders incase you hear me playing " Happy Birthday " on my keyboard for my Girl Friend no 5.

Good morning everyone from another dull and quiet start here in the dark and dangerous north
The wonder wheel of roast beef with onion and mushroom gravy, french beans and cauliflower came in at 5.4 this am

Yesterdays dull start turned into quite a pleasant day and as the girl in the bubble had had a sleep over she was keen to get into the park and then down onto the beach (via a chat with the stone penguins of course). Eldest son and partner have made a start on their new house project - kitchen ripped out yesterday and two stud walls demolished - plumber and electrician had already been in to make pipes and sockets safe. Son is on early shift this week (6 - 2) so he will be moving things up a notch this week. I hope that he gets a move on - our food bill has tripled and he eats some strange stuff - potatoes, pasta, pies - all manner of exotic stuff. It’s nice that he has decided to camp here while the work is done but at 6 foot 4 inches he does tend to get in the way.

art today - Spotted the heron in the park yesterday morning so two versions - one playing with resist, one with a back wash - both on rice paper. Have a marvellous Monday - time for koffy.

Sorry but you got me laughing with the freesia fumigating the entire house every two mins. Not funny I know. I would be coughing and choking if that happened to me...

Thank you for my painting compliments @geefull

A beautiful peaceful painting from you. I like it...

Morning campers

An un spectacular 6.8 today.
A week where I start upping the exercise.
A bit more walking & some weights.

Missus watching the holiday merry go round.

Mulling Antarctica & the Pitcairn's, although no way to get there, puts them on our personal RED list

Portugal though .., fully vaxxed, come on down :D

But once back in UK quarantine & test :sorry:
unless your recently married ;) or part of a one man multi million pound test programme
( a guess, obv, they can't ALL cost billions, can they :wideyed:)

And cheery to note the subtle change in Merkel's wordage

It's no longer "A virus of concern"
It's the UK as "A country of concern."
Pure jealousy their Vax programme is so slow, some are saying .ooh wait....

( Mein Gott Angela, try living here. :banghead: )

And on a note of in it together,
Spare a thought for Brandon Lewis.

When Trevor Phillips reveals he had to bury his daughter, Brandon trump's him by laying the "we all lost friends” card .. empathy oozing out of every pore..well played sir

Happy days all.
Rain due here in 5-4-3-2-1....bang on time.

Wonderful these weather apps.:D

Does anyone else have issues with bedding sizes?
Single, double? king size? Queen size?
While standard double beds are four foot six, why is there no standard double duvet size? Three marked by manufacturer as double vary widely in actual size. From 175cm sq, 200cm sq and 200x210cm.
No wonder I have trouble fitting the duvet covers, which also are marked double but again vary considerably in size.
Same with pillows and pillowcases, some fit, others are too small.
We have four beds, all different sizes and it is a long cherished dream to be able to store the appropriate bedding in the room with the bed. I don't want a lot out of life, but having just spent two hours trying to find a set of bedding to fit our bed am ready to throw money at the problem.
French duvet and covers are sold with the size clearly marked.
Now to work out which size I actually need.

Yes @SlimLizzy
I have problems with all of it, including pillow cases.
I have made my own bedding in the past, but I had an industrial treadle sewing machine then.
An ordinary electric household sewing machine is useless (I have a fight with it each time) so I never get mine out now...
I have a 3/4 bed, a single wool duvet, and fat feather pillows that are impossible to stuff in your everyday pillow case (I still make my pillowcases, I hand sew them).

Good luck with your co ordination of sizes...

Wow. Is there no end to your skills and resourcefulness. Huge respect. Not sure I have any practical skills except maybe a bit of cooking, some grass cutting and ?? not even that good at smashing things these days.
