Very happy!

I had a visitor from Amsterdam today, my best friend's brother and his 5 year old son, to pick up a kitten from my neighbour.
Neighbour was at work, so it was my job to introduce them to the kitten :)
Best friend had whispered in her brother's ear that I missed getting groceries at a good turkish supermarket since leaving Amsterdam, so I got surprised with 10 lamb merguez sausages and a very large pack of sucuk sausages!

Lunch was 2 merguez sausages on a slice of low carb bread. The sausages are long and the pieces of bread are small, but if you try hard enough you can make almost anything fit on a single slice of bread!:D
Evening meal was two more merguez, yesterdays leftover filled bell pepper and a quick tomato salad. :hungry:

Five year old Anne had a proper adventure today, starting with a picture at the entrance of the closest village to my home. The village is called St. Anne, so the dad made a picture of him with the sign, which is totally cool when you're 5 years old.
This was then followed by an enthousiastic greeting by my two small dogs and exploring my home and my garden while I was trying to find the squash. (I didn't succeed, I'm sure I bought a bottle but it was nowhere to find. Good thing kids can drink water too.)

He got to feed my (rather large, from a 5 year old's perspective) goats, and we had a drink in the garden where Anne promptly stepped back a step too far to fall in my pond :hilarious:. His father and I managed not to laugh, but it was hard.
Called my neighbour with slightly older kids for a pair of dry pants to wear on the 2 hour drive back.

Then it was off to the kitten. The neighbour with the kittens collects animal skulls and bird's feet and heads, and has lots of skins and furs from wild animals brought to him by local hunters and poachers. Anne is having a phase of being obsessed by skeletons, so in addition to the cute little kitten, we made a little tour of neighbour's home to see all the treasures there :)

What a lovely day!

B: ff greek with seeds and raspberries
But hunger didn't really stop so some nuts, a cold leftover burger and 2, yes 2, nut bars , some icecream and a coffee later I finally stopped eating.
Called it protracted OMAD.
Not sure if I'm out of sync following my carb experiments over a week ago. Mood is improving slowly. Think maybe a couple of days omad or carnivore may help

@maglil55 DGF order arrived today! I was like a kid at christmas - for
Brunch I had 1 chewy AND 1crunchy cookie (I couldn't decide which one to try first so I had both!) washed down with a mug of earl grey tea

Dinner was 2 slices of slc bread sandwiches with corned beef, & tomato, a handful of mixed nuts (I wasn't very hungry as it was so warm) but I then had TWO orange brookies with double cream drizzled over the top. I must stop this habit before it starts of having 2 instead of 1 at a time but the DGF are so moreish aren't they.

@DJC3 Swimming in the sea sounds fab! go you!

@Rachox I hope you are doing ok - take care

Weather was lovely so spent the day doing loads of washing in between sunbathing. Also, fitted in a long walk later on before it starting getting dark around 8.30pm - aww well the last day of summer right enough as the forecast is now rain for the next few days anyways ...

Two egg cheese and garlic chive omelette, one slice of middle bacon, mushrooms for breakfast.
Chobani 15% protein greek yoghurt, tub of sugar free orange jelly, lime / glass of lemon cordial with a scoop of OsmoLax mixed in for smoko.
Pork loin chops, green veggies, gravy for dinner.(formerly known as lunch).
Toasted cheese and onion low carb sandwiches, couple of spoons full of mango sorbet for supper at six (formerly known as dinner).

I started the open water sea swimming in January so the water seems positively balmy now. It’s completely exhilarating!
I havent tried the DGF cookies yet. What are they like and how big are they?

Meant to have breakfast as soon as I got Em off to school this morning. It was going well - washed, dressed, breakfasted (cheese on toast), lunch box packed, big jacket and schoolbag on and right at the door, but then her tummy felt "funny" again and it seemed like a bad idea to send her. So she was off again today and my routine went by the board. I forgot to have breakfast and then, forgot about lunch as well (by this time Em was feeling fine and prancing around, requiring attention). When I remembered, I grabbed a slice of toast with butter and that was all I had time for. Amazingly, BG isn't sky high and is, in fact beginning to fall well within range.

Em's dad came home from the hospital - mix ups all round (wait for the prescription to be sent up from the pharmacy, agree with Neil to be collected about 10 am, eventually told the pharmacy isn't open this morning - go home and then come back this afternoon, once home, the car he intended to drive back to town wouldn't start, call to Neil for help again) but finally he's gone back to town and will call in on his way home to see Em and find out why she felt unable to go to school (I think she just enjoys my bed too much).

Hungry now, but will have to wait for a proper meal - cauliflower cheese about 6 pm. Not sure how filling it will be, so I might have to bulk it out with something.

Hi All
We are away this week. Started Monday on Exmoor had steak and green veg for supper and scrambled eggs, tomato, mushrooms, one sausage for Tues brekkie. Very disappointing all round and for some reason tea tasted so horrible I couldnt drink it. Never had that before. Then moved on to Cornwall. First night had dressed crab and skinny chips (bad FBG after) and two glasses of wine. Wed brekkie was scrambled eggs, tomato and portobello mushroom beautifully cooked and hot! Excellent tea here!
Today (Thurs) had same brekkie and ordered again for tomo. They only do B&B but do it very well. We go to different restaurants early for dinner which I booked months ago. Its very sad to walk past queues of people without appointments just forlornly hoping for a table to become available. Last night had starter of Moules followed by sea bass fillets and Med veg. Not bothering with lunch while I am having cooked breakfast each day. However, Today though we found ourselves on a remote cove with a picnic of dressed crab t/a complette with samphire, lemon and a wooden fork. Wonderful, a real highlight of the trip. Had to be done. Two more days, will try to post again.

Breakfast of 2 eggs and ham. Lots of black coffee.
Lunch was a tin of salmon, a wedge of iceberg lettuce with h/m ranch dressing, 1/2 avocado and a few olives. DGF cake to follow.
Loads of tea with almond milk this afternoon
I’m not hungry which is odd for me so I don’t think I’ll bother with dinner. Maybe some kale crisps if I get peckish later.
@PenguinMum your packed lunch sounds so good. I’ve tried cooking samphire before but never got it quite right. I love it, I also love crab.

Hi everyone,
Pre-diabetic diagnosed a few months ago.. not obese, so they call it skinny fat? (Belly area). I am having a difficult time transitioning to all keto, so gradually, doing low-carb but adding fats of avocado, nuts, and cheese. I can't do red meat, but I do chicken and fish (salmon, sardines, tuna...etc). I am amazed at how all of you are able to portion control and not feel hungry after your meals. Even if I ate all your delicious prepared meals, i'd still be hungry. I always had a huge appetite so I would work out to compensate for it. I am no longer motivated for the gym, especially during covid. I had to cut out all the carbs like sweet potatoes, rice, gluten-free pasta and breads, and all the fruits, and am starving all the time. I am so depressed/stressed. My mom is diabetic T1 on insulin all her life, so there's the auto-immune gene which I am terrified of. I already got her hypothyroid, osteo, and thalassemia gene, so great! She had a heart attack in her 50's and broke both femurs in her 60's. I don't know what to eat anymore, afraid of the fats for the heart and cholesteral, etc...You all sound so amazing and I wish I could have you all as friends...I'm probably in the wrong forum, I'm so sorry

Mid afternoon: coconut cappuccino
Dinner: didn’t feel like a big hot dinner so had salmon and cream cheeses sandwiches made with LC bread with coleslaw followed by SF blackcurrant jelly, cream and LC nutty granola.

Hi Madison
Good to see you on this thread trying to get inspiration for your menus. However you may like to post your questions in the “Prediabetic” subforum which you can find here:

I think you may get a better response than hidden away in this menu thread :)

10:00 chunk of blue cheese
13:30 200g cherries stuck in a traffic jam and it was all I could reach from the supermarket shop in the boot of the car. Followed up with some prawns and another chunk of cheese when I finally got home.
Dinner: chicken leg roasted with butternut squash and courgette. 2 sqs 90%
Spending most of days listening to the talks from the Quit Sugar Summit online. Veer from thinking I've done well, to thinking I've still got a long way to go!

We had a meal out today, first time in a long tome. Meal of the day was roast pork and veggies, gravy at Brothers Sports Club bistro for dinner.
Toasted low carb ham and cheese sandwiches, orange jelly with a spoonful of two fruits, lemon / lime cordial with a scoopful of OsmoLax for supper at six.

@Antje77 put the salty liquorice ear worm into my head a couple of weeks ago, so ordered some from Amazon and they arrived yesterday from Holland.

I have to ration these out to make them last.

Two egg and cheese omelette, one slice of middle bacon, button muchrooms for breakfast.
Small tub of chobani 15% protein greek yoghurt for smoko.

I got the cookies as well. One box in the freezer (I ate the other box not all at once !).
It's a mixed box - 2 chewy, 2 crunchy. I prefer the crunchie, although even that isn't as crunchie as a piece of shortbread or a ginger nut they're choc chip and yes, I like them as it's nice to have them for a cuppa. They're slightly bigger than a digestive. They are pricey. I regard them as nice to have if I can't be bothered making my own.

I'm behind again! Monday 6 September - bed 6.5 FBG 6 6.
I've had one of these "pretty much the same" weeks. It's been very humid and nice in the afternoons (apart from torrential rain yesterday - Thursday) so I only wanted cold stuff for dinner.
B usual TAG and 2 slices of SLC toast with Philly.
L. Nothing
D. Cold meats - one slice each ox tongue, ham, roast beef and chicken breast. Lettuce, tomato, 1/2 avocado, coleslaw and corniche cove cheese. DGF cookie.

Tuesday 7 September - bed 6 6 FBG 6 3

Wednesday 8 September - bed 6 2 FBG 6.9

B. TAG and 2 slices of SLC toast with ham and Philly.
L DGF brookie
D. More salad! Fishy this time. Poached salmon, prawns in a garlic/tomato dressing, calamari, anchovies, 2 mini mozzarella, tomato, coleslaw, waldorf salad and a slice of SLC bread and butter.

I had really bad abdominal pain on Monday. It woke me up in a sweat. Tuesday I was fine then Wednesday it was back *but not as bad). A lot of the kids are going down with norovirus. Hubby got it after me. Otherwise we're fine.

We finally (after More then 6 years waiting) got a meeting with CAMHS today to help with grandson's anxiety. They're very nice and very apologetic too. I just hope we get somewhere.
