I am still leery of any meetings indoors. Like @Japes has said you can only control your own behavior. I have relaxed things in outdoor settings. I've gone to some appointments, the skin doctor, chiro and bone scan, mammogram, I figured my odds of actually running into the one person doing the tests being sick that the risks were minimal enough.

But I personally just don't trust all people. I am vaccinated and I think I don't care who is vaccinated or not as both can transmit the virus if sick. I think the risks being outside are minimal. But the quantity of people who faked vaccine cards and negative tests, the people that have turned out sick that still went to work. The quantity of tourists that went around sick when they had active covid cases because they didn't want to stay couped up and ruin their vacation. My sister in law that had a husband that had active covid and thought she was just having allergies and was out and about.....................in a group of people indoors, I am still leery.

It's a decision we all have to make for ourselves though, the pros and cons? I don't fault anyone for their decisions. I figure eventually we all will end up getting exposed and probably sick from covid, it's here to stay. I am just hoping for me it's well after the medical field knows exactly what to do about it. And maybe along the line small exposures so my immune system has a chance.
I’m more or less the same. It’s nice to know that the daughter who lives the closest always does an LFT before she visits us, and the shoe shop staff, and the other customer, we’re all wearing good masks, unlike so many here. I’ve seen a doc about twice since January 2020, had one retinal photography session, one meeting with the diabetes specialist nurse. I’ve seen younger daughter and family just four times since January 2020, sat in friends’ rooms with the big windows wide open a handful of times, and sat or walked outdoors much more. It’s supermarkets, pharmacies and post offices that are the places I visit where the risks are greatest, especially with the lax attitudes that abound.

I’ve just accidentally torn off the sensor and Miaomiao. Brigger! Caught it on clothing. Only 3 days to go on the sensor, but brigger! I was recharging the MM at the time with said clothing pulled up and away.

Oh dear, I hope you have enough blood test strips. It’s the nasty side of Covid for a Type One. Inflammation, immune responses, high blood sugars: covid’s very own way of attacking us, aren’t we lucky.
Do you have someone with you who can mask up and leave you water, more insulin, more test strips?

Yeah the good lady wife is looking after me, i also spoke too soon about a working sensor as it is already saying replace sensor and only had it on a day so i will definitely need more test strips as the ones i’ve got won’t last the remainder of my isolation period.

Hi all, back from Cornwall, stayed in a house on the hill above Sennen cove, spectacular views, including the bad weather rolling in! Very mixed, sun and showers, saw multiple rainbows daily and the dogs adored the beach. Good walking, whatever was going on after my Pfizer jab had gone by the time we arrived so that was good.

Just caught up with all the messages and I'm with @Marie 2 on getting together. I live in Somerset where before I went away we had the highest rate of covid in England (apparently due to all our PCR tests being the incorrect negative tests) so I'm being thoughtful about what I do and deciding for myself. So @Fairygodmother just do what feels right to you; we all have to live with the consequences of our decisions and there are consequences we can all decide we don't want to risk if we don't have to.

Thank you @Japes @Marie 2 @hh1 my gut feeling says the same. You’ve confirmed me in my decision. And it’s very cheerful to know that I’ve not become a neurotic recluse who just happens to have had a booster.

Interesting discussion re staying safe @Fairygodmother We are on the last day of 10 days in Norfolk. It has been bliss. We did our weekly lateral flow test on the morning we left. Since then we have not been near another human being unless passing on fairly empty beaches. Bliss! I am due my booster next week nearly a month after I should have been eligible, but I didn’t want to risk being ill whilst away. When we return home it will be back to swimming, gardening with in-bloom, shopping and for the first time a meal indoors with 3 good friends. We will all do a LF before hand. The biggest danger comes from my 4 year old grandson and his policeman father. But I have made the decision to no longer worry about it. It is a bit like playing Russian roulette but the whole idea of having a vaccine was to prevent serious illness. It is a risk I feel I must now take.
It is up to each of us to way up our own comfortable level.

Morning all, had to go to the dentist on Friday for two root fillings (not root canal) but there's a problem with an upper tooth now so I'm back there again today! Busy week this week; an Inspector's public meeting about a local planning application which faces a lot of local opposition (quite rightly in my opinion, hence going along in support), dog class, blood tests and ending the week on Friday with a visit to the consultant opthalmologist about a cataract that's come on ridiculously fast. Not looking forward to that one as I think we all know what that will lead to.

Really busy week @hh1. Cataract ops aren’t to be feared, the better sight makes it more than worth it, I wish I’d had sight like I have now when I was younger.
Good luck at the planning meeting, hope the locals’ wishes prevail.
Good morning all.
Lovely sun, lovely yellowing leaves. We had a trip to the coast yesterday, to Ramsgate with its harbour, seabirds (lots of dunlins), fishing boats and interesting architecture. The bracing air and proper sea and fishing smells of the harbour were reviving.

I have a telehealth visit with my endo next week so I dropped in to get a blood draw. I fast in the mornings anyway and I was near one of the locations. For the first time ever unsweetened iced tea was counted as not fasting???? They have never cared about tea or coffee before. So either it was a newbie or they are changing the definitions?

I will let my endo know it was just tea...................otherwise she might make me get another "fasting" test in 3 months.

Morning from a rainy Leeds. Supposed to be in blooming this morning as have a new box coming for our green which needs sorting. Not looking good.
@karen8967 do you not have email access for your GP. I stopped phoning ages ago. Can even do appointments on line. Needed help yesterday so filled in an e consult at 9am. 10:30 they rang me to sort. Appointment for procedure Friday morning. Brill service!

Morning all, lucky you @becca59, I can email but nothing seems to happen. If I want to book an appointment online all I get is a choice of a couple of doctors weeks ahead, whereas if I phone I can get a phone consultation way faster. They're very helpful when I do get through on the phone and I don't envy any of them their jobs - or anyone in health care. My dentist is taking up a new job in January, advising dentists by phone which he can do from home. When I said he sounded relieved he said, "why would you put yourself through this nightmare every day if you don't have to?" Apparently patients have no patience any more, and the constraints and hygiene precautions are daunting. I'm just grateful so many of them are still working.

Good afternoon everyone. I agree, the online process for booking a routine GP appointment is much easier, and so are prescription requests via patient access. Sometimes an urgent appointment’s needed and then the phone comes into play. I do wish people didn’t abuse GPs and Receptionists, the GP numbers are falling in a very worrying way. Many are due to retire. They need to be praised, cosseted, respected.

Pre pandemic I could book an appointment on system online at our drs, but it stopped for the pandemic, and still hasn't restarted. I can still order medication and see test results thankfully, although not if it's bloods done for a consultant. I end up having to tell the receptionists/nurses which part of their system to go into to tell me them over the phone. E consult has been switched off for months as they have got too much of a backlog. Not their fault I know, but like Karen you have to wait nearly an hour to get through on the phone, and then all the phone appointments for the day are gone. It's much quicker to drive there, providing you are well enough of course!!

Again, it seems that different areas/surgeries are all able/willing to provide different levels of care to patients, and whilst the gp's are under a lot of pressure in some areas, it's also raising anxiety for a lot of patients.

My gp still does not do online appointments again yet, you can leave an online query but its 50/50 if they get back to you .

Have read through peoples responses to Gp conversation. What a difference depending on individual surgeries. @Hopeful34 mentions driving to the Gp. You cannot get pass the door at ours without a pre arranged need. Absolutely no requests on the door will be accepted. Our E mail consult definitely does what it’s supposed to though. If I needed an urgent appointment that would still be the quickest route to success. It would be dealt with whilst others are still hanging on the phone. Logically a receptionist can deal with requests quicker than actually having to answer phones to people who then talk and get cross.

Yes, our GP still takes phone appointment and then they can decide if you can come for a face to face appointment.

I registered with them 4 yrs ago and I moved to another place but still with because they used to have a drop in clinic everyday from 9:30 to 11.
which was perfect for me. But with this pandemic, the system has changed.
