What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

I've been giving a few ratings so I thought I would post a little update. I tried these rather than search M and S. The smell and taste were lovely and effect on bg was zero. I have to say that in common with almost all LC food for me the experience was like eating fresh air but there was some pleasure so a massive win. @Annb whitebait? Many uk sources
Here - Here - we've had both of these; here - never tried; Here; Here; a local market fishmonger may work, ours does. Looks like Sainsbury's and Tesco don't sell any. Iceland have coated packs very high carb IMHO. I understand that you may not have access to all the supermarkets so the online ones may suit you. Hope that helps.

Breakfast; paleo granola, slice low carb toast, butter
mocha
Lunch: seeded crackers cream cheese salad. pip and nut buttercups
Dinner: Pork Schnitzel, roasted tomatoes, sauerkraut, berries and cream, Lindt 90%

agree with this @ianpspurs , and having tried the m and s version (at last) I think these are better!!

Thanks for that Ian. I've checked through the sites you mentioned but mostly they don't deal with the Islands or Highlands. That's because of difficulties of delivery times and cost, no doubt. It's surprising that so little fish is available here considering that we are surrounded by water. I can only very rarely get the fish that I want. Salmon, I can get. Sometimes mackerel. Sometimes haddock. Supermarkets sell pollock but not very fresh. On a very odd occasion, skate wings. More easily available are cod and ling - neither of which I would thank you for. Supermarkets don't have much either - sometimes "smoked" haddock or cod, sometimes "smoked" mackerel (none of them really smoked, just dyed and flavoured). Some fish products like crab sticks (not really sure how much crab is in them) but not much else. They do sell frozen fish but they tend to be dressed in breadcrumbs.

I do have some sprats tinned in water which I bought from Amazon, but that's the closest I can get. I gather that the mock whitebait that some cooks are recommending are thinly sliced herring - which we also can't get here. Next time I can get fresh mackerel, I'll try that trick with them.

Hi. Not feeling very hungry today so skipped bf. Lunch was 2 buttered Ryvitas with smoked salmon on, ran out of Philly, plus ff Greek yoghurt with a couple of halves of Apricots in. Tonight I've had 2 fried eggs and some celeriac chips done in my new air fryer. @Goonergal, mine isn't like those you showed me. It's a very simple model (has to be for me!). But the chips weren't bad for a first attempt.

First thing a couple of spoons of my hm yoghurts with black coffee and my daily supplements
Lunch left over frittata with hm salads and sauerkraut followed by a few berries with hm yoghurt and handful of almonds and a couple of squares of 100% choc with orange oil.
Dinner venison meatballs in hm passata followed by lc blueberry and lemon blondie warmed and served with more hm.
Won’t go into detail - but am noticing very positive impact on my gut functioning as a result of my hm yoghurt concoctions!! Plus they taste way better than the commercial versions to me.

Are you making your yogurts in an instant pot/ninja foodi appliance? I’ve recently bought a ninja foodi that has yogurt as one of the options but haven’t tried it yet.

I seem to be a bit behind.

Going a bit off piste at the moment and need to get back on the slopes!

Lunch today was a bunless bacon cheeseburger with grilled onions at Five Guys.
Dinner was a keto bagel with smoked salmon and avocado. Yes, a ready made bagel. Wouldn’t have considered it at full price, but the reduction made it worth a whirl and it was pretty decent. Not very big though.

That was followed by assorted goodies - my route from medical appointment to home took me past the Aladdin’s cave that is the Montezuma’s shop in Shoreditch! I did at least manage not to go in the Hotel Chocolat a few doors down.

Hiya no I bought a cheap yoghurt maker that has good variable temperature control I don’t have a ninja but presume it would work provided that the yoghurt option is temp and time variable. Problem is that the the live bacteria that we seem to be missing from our guts are the more vulnerable ones that get easily wiped out by antibiotics and modern diets, diabetes etc and these ones like L Reuteri need to be grown at 38degrees for 36 hours. Why not have a go with your ninja to produce some regular yoghurt using a commercial live one as a starter and see how it works? Most live yoghurts are good but they are limited to just a few bacteria that grow at and are more hardy able to cope with the higher temperatures which are often the go to settings on some machines.

@MrsA2 (and others), I seem to remember you talking about sugar free Werther’s Original. Someone I follow on Twitter posted this: https://twitter.com/shelly_187/status/1498370466209320974?s=21
anyone tried this?

btw, received a couple of free loaves of keto bread with my cracker order today. Date is today but advice on to freeze immediately (which I do with bread anyway). Really nice gesture and helps stop food waste, will report back on taste as it's something like 0.6g carbs per slice!

Oh thank you. I normally buy Yoggu coconut yoghurt, it has live bacteria. But will watch the video and give it a try. I find this all so interesting and would rather make my own than buy one now that I am retired and have more time.

Sunday Bed 8 2 FBG 8 3 - Not as it seems! I've been out of action with a nasty bug. Slight nausea but let's say I didn't venture too far from a toilet. Warm but shivering so it was plenty water, into PJ'S and cover up. Fortunately I'd prepared most of today's dinner.

B. TAG and paleo granola with coconut milk.

L. Nothing

D. I'd made chicken sesame toast with SLC bread. Had a piece of that with a mini veggie spring roll. Duck with spring onion and cucumber, one pancake and no sauce. Lots of water and an early night!

Monday bed 12.4 FBG 7.4 - Not the food. Thanks to the bug. I was worse today. I was surprised to be down to 7.4 by morning.

B. Water and more paleo granola with coconut milk.

L. Water, water.

D. Coconut milk and leftover bits from yesterday's dinner. Didn't stop BGs hitting 14.7 at one point.

Lots if water. Oddly I've slept well though. The PJ'S helped my legs.

No breakfast, just a cold dog walk
Coffee with cream
Early lunch of 90 second bread with cheddar and coleslaw
D: frittata of bacon, cabbage and leeks. 1 small slice hubbys pizza. Tried keto pancakes using just cream cheese and eggs and vanilla essence. Texture ok, but it didn't make many and tasted a but too cheesy eggy to really be a pancake. Finished of the red wine.

Four slices of low carb cheese on toast, two hard boiled eggs for breakfast.
Two Bros sausage rolls, lemon cordial with osmolax mixed in for smoko.
Beef casserole and veggies for lunch.
Leftover casserole on low carb toast for supper at six.

Very slim pickings on the online shopping yesterday, most of the stuff we get is out of stock due to the flooding south of Bundaberg.

We were lucky our catchment area was not soaked by the cyclonic rains, so we did not have any flooding problems here like the 2013 floods here.

@Riva_Roxaban I was going to ask you if you were near any flooding. It looked pretty bad in the Brisbane area. I'm glad you're OK.
Despite the horrible BGs yesterday, I'd dropped to 8.9 by bedtime and was down to 7 8 FBG this morning. Continued downwards to a more palatable 6 1. Feeling much better but kind of wiped out.

B. TAG and felt well enough for bacon, 2 fried eggs, and santini tomatoes
L. Back on coconut milk
D. Pork chop with a glaze mix of Chipotle paste, olive oil, salt and pepper. Veg of green beans, spinach, spring onion and avocado

Lots more Water.

Thanks no problems here at present, the closest towns around ~100 klms away, Maryborough and surrounding Fraser coast areas have been flooded all the way south to Gympie

Here's a pix of a quad bike tangled up in power lines near Gympie.

Breakfast; paleo granola, low carb toast and butter
mocha
Lunch; seeded crackers with cream cheese and salad, protein bar
salted popcorn
Dinner: roasted chicken breast with creamy peppercorn sauce, tomatoes and peas. blackberries, strawberries and cream.

Two slices of the free Keto Chef bread (it's wildly expensive) but very nice. Anyone else tried it?
