What’s happened to the forum?

Ok had time to acclimate to the new layout. Have tried to assimilate information. Have been productive in the football thread. Have been frustrated by the lack of buttons to agree etc. Have been frustrated by the fact of having to register instead of just logging in, having to press the tick to keep signed in. Having to have my password changed. Having to change the colour Having to navigate the forum by new posts instead of recent posts. Having to use a magnifying glass to see the alerts. Having to use the search button. Having to discover how to post again it is not easy with my fingers! Having to a answer a pertinent enquiry on the RH forums hoping that, what I wrote was legible and applicable. Wasting time trying to find the blogs button without success, having to use the search button for blogs but with little success. Having to use this thread to discover that there was no answer to the blogs question. Having to post here, with the question, where is the fire trucking blogs forum?
I would be eternally grateful if you could advise.
My membership for WHOA is in the post!

3. Unanswered threads - This feature does still exist and can be accessed by clicking 'Find Threads' in the forum's navigation and clicking on 'Unanswered threads'
It's not the Unanswered Threads that are missing, it's New Threads (which was confusingly called New Posts on the old format but wasn't the same as Unanswered Threads or Recent Posts).

On a computer it used to be located on the right, along with Staff Online and Members Online. On a phone (browser, not app) it was at the bottom of the forums list.

It showed the last 5 or 6 threads that had been started in the whole forum (except general chat) and it was very useful to see what's new on the forum and if someone might need urgent help. And to quickly weed out spammers posting in quick succession too, and to notice accidental duplicate threads!

The current What's New button shows latest posts, both new threads and reactions on existing threads, so any new threads while you were offline are drowned by posts in busy threads.
Unanswered Threads serves part of this purpose, but it won't show new threads if someone already replied to it.

I'd really like to have this feature back in some form.

Agree!

Sorry to be a total nuisance again!
I have just used the arrow under my avatar and my diabetes? type is .........................

I have no idea!

Why is it so hard to get information from an information service?

Where is the fire trucking blogs forum?

If you click the rating again, you undo it. I don't know what alerts you may have received just now, but I rated and undid it within seconds.
Mechanically it does that, But its cack handed. I have to list the responses, scroll down, find what I did, then I can change it. The old system suited me better Simple Reset and click. It only reset my response.

I really want this back too. I was trying to find if it was somewhere else and just kept getting everything that someone has posted anything on. I look for the things that could be related to type 1 and I don’t want to try to read through 30 posts figuring out what might be? And then looking for if it could be somewhere I stumbled across unanswered posts of which there is a tremendous amount that is unanswered, they probably got buried pretty quick because they get mixed in with all posts. Then after I answered one I had a hard time remembering how I got to it in the first place and had to search for that! The next time I found that again I then used the back button to go back to it as it was easier!
But there is a ton of new unanswered questions, at least there was 12 hours ago. I haven’t searched for it again yet!

what arrow under your avatar?

And when I use my phone to get onto the forum it used to say 'check the box if you want to stay logged in'
Now I have to uncheck it if I don't want to stay logged in. I don't, so I have to check it every ***** time

Forum colour scheme - We're aware people don't like the red theme and will be offering an alternative to choose from! We'll let you know when this is ready.
Hi @Giverny

Cheers for the update .

While I hear the need for feedback when it helps get forum back up to par.

I do think any positives should also be recognised .

Just logged on this evening ..
( I stay logged in usually, and no longer get the 'Log In' page in error )

And I was one who found the white background hard to read.

I have since checked and it seems much better in default & in UI.I

I won't be changing back any time soon,
I've now grown used to the DARK theme, and now it's has red for the banner, names, likes & links, it really 'Pops' visually .

Please accept a 'LIKE' ....to help even out the moans & groans
(Me included...:bag: )

& Pass on my appreciation to the behind the scenes people, working hard to get this right for the members :)

I'm optimistic you'll all get us there in the end.

Sorry, sorry, sorry!
But the thing is, I went away for a while as the wife, the dog and the grandkids were ravenous. I digress again. I just don't like short posts on this new thingymyjig.
Anyway, I fire trucking had to log in!
I didn't log out!
Again my first attempt was unsuccessful, however I used my auto filler in thingymyjig on my pad.
That worked.
I'm frustrated!
And still no-one has answered the red hot fire trucking question?
Where are the blogs?
I have posted over 90 blogs for members to read.
They may be boring and some stupid, obviously not everybody likes footie or sport.
But there are a number of observations from somebody who has fought and battled against medical incompetence, misdiagnosis and obesity. Amongst other things.
I would be very remiss with whoever has changed the format.
So many on here are not conducive with the sudden change in format. A large number are elderly and have had to learn how to use digital platforms, we are not of the computer generation. We need guidance and informed special treatment to navigate the terms and what this button does, what happens if you click on this or double click on the wrong place or wary of deleting stuff or posts.
Anything new, should be easy or compatible to the older platforms.
Too much is liable to put posters off! Don't forget, it is beyond a lot of elderly to even join the forums!
Enough! Well yes it is! I like a rant!
Maybe too far!
Why can't I see the fire trucking blogs button?
It would get your goat too!
Please @Giverny, @Administrator. Let me know!

@zand underneath the avatar and forum description 'master ' there should be a downward arrow, with your info about posts etc and what diabetes type you have.

it is so **** ******** frustrating, nearly as bad as watching my footie team!

What about giving them a bit of time?
They're obviously still working very hard on getting things to work right, shouting harder won't make it quicker, and tech teams are not magicians.

I fully understand you're very worried about the disappeared blogs and rightly so, and I'm sorry I don't have any answers for you. But you asked about the blogs two hours ago already.
Personally, I prefer the tech team to spend most of their time working on improving things, not on replying to every post on this thread.

At least you had the decency to reply after two hours!!!!
personally, I would have thought that overlooking a big part of the forum is something really serious! And that is not an improvement, nor are some of the issues raised on this thread. It was actually .more than twelve hours ago that somebody else asked about the blogs forum it never got an answer! That is probably why I went OTT.
my apologies to you @Antje77, but it begs the question, if a mod doesn't know.........?

Can't see one! What colour is it? I've looked on my phone and PC and don't see any arrows
.

Does everyone else see them?

Nope. Not for me on either my android phone or laptop.

I see them in UI.X mode or UI.X dark mode, but not default mode. I use the website not the app - usually on an ipad. I've just checked using my phone (also use website not app) and the arrow is not there in portrait mode, but does appear in landscape mode.

However, as others have pointed out, while diabetes type is shown there, because the title is so long, one can't actually see the diabetes type of the relevant member.

Editing to add a couple of screenshots.

I am neither moaning or groaning or being negative. The main function of this forum is to share appropriate information and give support. If there is no way of knowing what type of diabetes someone has, or their meds, the main function of this forum doesn't work.

Before switching, with zero warning, it would have been good to get this main function sorted. The look of the site and like-type buttons are just details I am happy to wait for.

Inappropriate help due to lack of basic information, or the frustration of several posts with questions before being able to help, is not a minor point. It could be dangerous.

Rolling these changes out, on a Friday, with no warning or ways to find basic information about questioners is not, in my opinion, helpful.

My son is a programmer, btw. I know how these things should be done. What testing was done, behind the scenes, before roll out?
