What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

I have my coffee black with no sugar, I have been drinking it like this for more years than I can remember. Sometimes I put a dash of salt in to enhance the bitterness of the coffee.

I do not go to coffee shops, and pay over the odds for a mug coffee frothy flavoured milk. :meh:
Black, without sugar, is the way I used to take my coffee and is what I am having right now. But this is much weaker than I used to take it. The coffee I am using is an instant one but I'd be better with the real thing. I think I'll have to make up a jug of cold real coffee. Can't be bothered with making cafetieres of hot coffee several times a day. I think I prefer it cold, anyway.

You're quite right. I wouldn't go to a coffee shop these days, even if I could. I used to love cappucino as a teenager - it was all the thing back then as the number of coffee shops grew after rationing ended but the last time I was in a coffee shop I paid a ridiculous amount for a double esspresso and it barely touched the sides as it went down. Certainly didn't invigorate me to do the rest of the shopping. Obviously it was a long time ago, when I could actually go to the shops by myself.

Morning all. I'm back! Had a wonderful nearly 2 week holiday then was taken ill and had to delay return. Called on Elvis but he was out, so had a look round his house! Son is on Keto so obviously I was too. Had some nice meals. Today I have had a coffee with cream. Lunch will be a beef medallion fried in butter with fried cauli, cabbage and onion. Tea will be a protein shake with avocado. Not keen on new layout! Preferred the old way, at least I knew mostly what I was doing! Have a good sunday everyone :)

Welcome back. Glad your holiday was (mostly) good but not the best of ideas to get ill at any stage during a holiday. Hope you are feeling better now.

Beef medallion sounds fantastic - not so keen on the veggies at the moment anyway. It all sounds great but veggies are non edible for me just now.

Toast for breakfast. Tum still a bit wobbly and carbs seem to be acceptable to it today.

I'll have to see how it feels later and see if I have anything in the house that it will accept without complaint. But meantime I have to bake for tomorrow. Shan't be tempted by any of it though - it might be a "stomach acceptable" carb but there will also be sugar, which isn't.

Coffee and cream
Sliced Turkey with butter
Small avocado.
Total 5% yogurt
Smoked salmon
Sour cream

A chunk of cheese before a 2 hour very sunny and warm walk.

L: 2 slices hi lo bread toasted with cheese and a slice of tomato on each. 1 sq hm lc bakewell

D: roast chicken with roasted red peppers, courgettes and sprouts. 1 sq hm lc bakewell tart and 1 small portion jelly yoghurt.
Still hungry and trying to ignore it

thanks Ann. Nice to be back. Hope you are soon feeling much better

So the seconds at breakfast in effect was your lunch.
I fail to see how a lunch of a small scoop of scrambled egg, a single mushroom and 1 bacon rasher would be a bad thing.

Thanks, that’s a nice way to look at it! I’ll try to ignore the fact that it was just 15 mins after I’d finished first breakfast and I wasn’t even hungry. Could have been worse though - the croissants were calling!

Morning all. Today it's Pensioners lunch so who knows but I will forgo the pudding! I'm trying to be very lc but I'm not losing weight. Monday is the one day of the week when I'm not so lc and I don't want to give it up because of the company. It's something to look forward to. Anyway, for tea tonight it will be 2 bratwurst. Have a nice day.

My Welsh friend has just gone. She enjoyed the shortbread that I made for her visit. Quite a lot left but I'll get Alistair to take it away this afternoon. Rushing around quite a bit to get myself organised, so no breakfast - just the coffee that I had with my visitor. Lunch will be fish. I think it's haddock.

Might think about something else later on - not sure if Neil managed to get any ham this morning, but if he did, that's what it will be.

Just put my fish into the oven to bake when another friend arrived to give me the news that another mutual friend died this morning. Of course, she stayed for quite a while so I just turned the oven off and hoped the fish wouldn't be too dry by the time she left.

She's just gone, but I'm expecting Em to arrive in about 10 minutes. So I'll just let the fish get cold and do something with it later. Surviving on tea and coffee but still resisting the shortbread.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend @Annb .

Why can't you eat when Em arrives?
I could, but I need thinking time and that's not easy when Em is here. In fact, she very rapidly got my tablet out and started playing amusing videos to show me, snuggled up together in the big chair. She continued playing computer games and I fell asleep. Only woke properly at about 5.30. At that point Em asked if she could have bacon. Just as I was getting it out of the fridge, her dad arrived to collect her.

So now, I will flake the fish and mix it with some mayo. Oddly, BG has only slowly dropped through the day to 7.9 now. Odd because it was around the 14 mark when I took insulin and then didn't eat, so I thought it would plummet. Maybe it was the coffee.

I had one of those days.
Couldn't find food and drink. So had a packet of nuts (1oz) until I got home.
Then butter, plenty of plaice and mushrooms. Was very nice indeed.
Might have been nice but took Metformin late and suffered last night.
Not sure I ate enough.

Good to see you back @RosemaryJackson
Forgot to post yesterdays food but we are back home now so I’m feeling a bit more in control
B- 2 boiled eggs. Spoonful of turmeric and ginger sauerkraut.
L- SLC roll filled with sliced beef and coleslaw.
D- pork chop, 3 M&S 90% pork chipolatas and cauliflower - all cooked together in the air fryer.
2 glasses red wine.

Today was the same as the day before yesterday (meatballs with lots of onion and cheese in them, and green beans with a blue cheese sauce), which should have been yesterday's meal.

But yesterday was 'neighbour day', a real thing, promoted and subsidised by the government, provided you organise something to have neighbours spend time socially together.
Was a lot of fun and I spoke with a lot of so far unknown to me neighbours!

It started at 2 pm, and despite starting to get hungry at around 1 pm I figured to wait a bit with my first meal and see what would be available at the party.

So the first thing I had besides my morning coffee was a glass of hard liquor at 2 pm, as that was the first thing offered! :wacky:

Apart from that I had plenty of cheese cubes, cold meats, a couple of bitterballen (definitely not low carb) some cherry tomatoes and cucumber, and beer.
Enough beer to find it very funny we were actually drinking beer paid for by the government. :hilarious:
But I did manage to steer clear of all the other high carb snacks, and I had the insulin dosing pretty much spot on. :)

Got home at around 7 pm, decided a full meal wasn't needed after all the snacking so I had a meatball on a slice of low carb bread.

Enough of the beans and meatballs left for tomorrow, which means I only have to cook one more time for two days on wednesday before leaving on my holiday to the UK on friday!

Very excited for that!

I have been rather lazy about posting. Been away, been busy, been feeling rather delicate, and not felt much of an appetite.
A bit of weight gain, some raised fasting levells, and HbA1c discrepancy. 44 on home test, 53 on GP test, same day, 30 mins apart. Whatever is correct, it is higher than should be. Hence a Rethink. Generally two meals a day.Late brunch and early evening dinner. Probably need to look at portions size, particularly when it comes to cheese, nuts, butter, and cream. Also keeping accurate records again, of BG levels, exercise and what I eat and drink. Tedious, but necessary.
Today,
late breakfast 6 walnut halves, fage yogurt, 2 dessert spoonsful, black coffee.
mid morning more black coffee
mid afternoon more black coffee
dinner cauliflower, broccoli, soup made from left over lamb, 10 butterbeans, tomatoes and leek, lemon and ginger tea.
evening. Warm semi skimmed milk.
