What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Glad things seem positive for Archie and you liked the podcast. Now relax, you're on half term.
Am relaxing now. Feel much better after seeing the vet. We did wonder if this was the 'end game' for Archie but maybe not. The young vet was very impressed with him. She said she had never met a 16 year old chocolate Labrador. Not surprising because their average age is 10. They don't normally live as long as the other labs.

We have had very few dry days in the last month,
the river has been rushing through the hamlet in full spate this week. When I look over the old stone bridge I realise how much energy is being wasted and how a turbine could fulfill most of our needs but such a device needs to work independent of flow volume.

Could be used as a “ top up “, but the not in my back yard brigade would be crawling out of the wood work.

I make my own canvas. I take photos of different textures. When I like one, I made the canvas a sort of white colour within curves setting in Snapseed. I put this in Procreate and then I begin painting.
Various brushes.
Inking - syrup
Artistic - aurora
Organic - snowgrass
Water - mad splash
Artistic - leatherwood
I use the blur/blend tool a lot if I don't like the stroke I have done (I try not to use the undo tool), and try again over the blended bit.

I also alter the settings within each brush stroke, and I try to remember to make copies before I alter the original setting of the brush stroke.

I try to experiment with one different brushstroke each painting, but I often end up blurring it out.

The most important thing for me is to have fun doing it...

Thanks for your compliment. It is greatly appreciated.
Thank you @gennepher I will check those out. I think I have some already, snowgrass will be one. love your idea for experimenting with the brushstrokes and also making textures.

Morning everyone from what has turned into a very wet day here with thundery showers to come later. Two sons and four grandchildren were planning to go pumpkin picking today but that has been postponed. @dunelm thank you for the cartoon which sums up my view of where we are as a country. Those who deliberately broke it are now demanding unity and calling for some grown ups in the room whilst also calling for the Lord of Misrule to return. Make your minds up by tomorrow guys. The latest artwork becomes more pleasing to me by the day. I'm sure the addition of colour will delight my old eyes. Thank you. Good news that there are real benefits from the back pain course. Let's hope Mr Pickle and his team mates have further success but more importantly enjoy and learn from the experience, Always hard to enjoy losing though. @Krystyna23040 hug for Archie and I hope the vet can help. @gennepher thanks for the video and creative. Some music, well very nearly, in honour of Stray Cat (lyrics). Sunday lunch with MIL here today which will mean some interesting analysis in Cronomter. Trying to follow Tim Spector's 4Ks - not the 5 Sikh ones - is interesting since it conflicts with received wisdom on sodium and phosphorous levels for kidney health. Yesterday I had kefir, kimchi and kombucha but not kraut - too much S and P with them all.. I now have very detailed analysis of my bloods and follow up phone consultations fortnightly. Both Addenbrookes and Spector are keen on gut microbiome health. Chicken is high in phosphorous so this could be interesting. Have a great day. Mine could be heavily influenced by whether Conte's boys actually bother to turn up today since they stayed on the bus / in the hotel on Wednesday evening.
Thank you @ianpspurs

Really good that your back pain course has been so helpful.

Your grandson must be really good to be playing in the U14 tournament in Barcelona.
Thank you @Krystyna23040, final week coming up. Yes, our grandson has won a place in North Yorkshire Football Academy for the past three seasons - the players, even the under 14s have to compete for their place each year which for some can end in a lot of upset.

Have any you guys heard how a Boston Uni lab have produced a chimeric COVID virus that has a massive kill rate of 8 out 10 mice.
If something like this gets free the possibilities are terrible if it affects humans!
D.
Wow. Hadn't heard that. Very concerning and in any case, why do that? Even if you don't like mice, you just need to get a cat or use traps (hateful things). If 80% of mice were killed, you would be left with a breed of supermice descended from the remaining 20%. Then there are the concerns about mutation and crossing between species. I sometimes wonder about scientists.

The author Douglas Adams wrote about mice in his authorities guide book The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
Please don’t wonder about scientists, panic instead, I know a few.

Good call, without correct protocols this is alarming, but this needs to fact checked and if correct shoot the chemists, remember the debacle that was called Cold Fusion?

Trail camera nighttime clips. Do not watch these if you do not want to watch Midnight cleaning himself on the swing! You are warned!

This particular night Midnight (cat) left my kitchen, where he sleeps the night, and jumped on the swing at 5:23 am . Over the next two hours until 7:33 am he triggered the wildlife trail camera over 40 times, leaving me with all those 60 second video clips to watch.

Here is a selection of the most exciting ones!

During the day, Midnight sleeps on my lap or my legs at every available opportunity. He lies there as still as can be purring extremely loudly. It is so easy for me to have a daytime nap...

Creative is a digital painting of Autumn in Procreate.
The brushstroke called Snow Gum does the falling leaves. I have made several versions of Snow Gum where I have altered the settings in order for the leaves fall differently on the painting. The other thing I do, is to use layers when using this brush stroke, and this enables me to erase some of the leaves, without affecting the painting on the layer underneath. In this painting, I have used a reflection app to create the water. And the silhouettes of the birds come from an app where I can either use their stock silhouettes, or I can make my own silhouettes.

Don't worry, I won't bore you with technical stuff each time I do a digital painting. I just have a couple of minutes to spare this morning!

Now I need a cuppa.

Have a good day.

Wonderful, calming autumnal scene. I thought that I had snow gum - and I do. I made some poppies with it a couple of years ago for remembrance cards.

I gather that there is still work being done on cold fusion even though it was discredited around 30 years ago. Maybe the view is - if it doesn't work, just keep going anyway. (If at first ...)

Good morning everyone on a wonderfully quiet start here in the dark and dangerous north. It’s the final week of the back pain course but two people have had to drop out due to testing positive for Covid - we all check often and I did three tests over the course of the weekend - all negative. I note that Boris has dropped out of the three horse race, probably tripped at the fence of self indulgent future planning. Anyhow Brutus looks like winning the race unless an eleventh hour popularist that everyone will just love turns up to the sound of fanfare trumpets but no. This tale comes to you from the people of Spitting Image rather than Disney +. Art bit, I only want to see you in the purple rain. Must surely now be time for koffy.

Must admit, the technicalities are beyond me, but the effect is magnificent.
