What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning all. fbs at 7.30am was 17.1. This seems to be my new normal! Hoping that tomorrow's face to face appointment with a doctor will help. Calmer weather today after yesterday's rough winds that tore the trim off our conservatory and blew watering cans/ plant pots about like confetti. Have a good day folks. :)

Good national bin day Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and those disgruntled ones or severals. This is the thread to air your grievances along with your blood sugars, me, me’s and myself are far too confused to do left or right wing.

Bloods this morning were 5.3

Later this morning I have been told I am being taken to the local supermarket, oh deep joy, bet I get banished to the koffy shop within 5 minutes. My track record this morning is good, I have been informed I am an “illegitimate person in the mornings”, what’s wrong with humming the dambusters theme running round the lounge with your arms outstretched, Mrs J is a trifle tetchy in the mornings.

Hugs where required, stay safe all.
For me, I remain disgruntled but the rant is over and done. Until next time. Of course, there's always the big bill I just got to get the car through its MOT...

Just to complete the story - Alistair's problem is bursitis and he can walk on it without risking doing any damage so can just put up with the pain meantime. He has to wear a support from ankle to knee until it sorts itself out. He has been advised to take painkillers but, of course, as a country postie, he has to drive a van and so can't do that. But he is stoic and will manage.

8.45am FBG 5.3
Very heavy rain shower beating down on kitchen doors. Kiki is fascinated by the noise and movement. The winter thrushes, mostly fieldfares this year, arrived a few days ago and are having noisy arguments with a Mistle Thrush who wants to claim the apple trees that still have fruit. We leave two trees at the bottom of the garden and all the trees in the paddock for wildlife. I am amazed how many windfalls there still are under the trees I harvested.
MrSlim has started another building project - he is renovating a falling down shed we call the cider press. Shed is not really the right word for it implies a smallish building. This is more the size of a double( triple?) garage or small barn.
There are three Robins outside, I am assuming the one busy hunting for food is female while the other two posturing and having battles are male...

Sounds all go at your place @SlimLizzy

Good morning everyone from a very wet part of The Brecks here in the Exotic East (phew, predictive text behaved there) I rolled the bin out in the dry last night since the local BBC weather girl predicted this - well, that one is a Cambridge born girl. JKP is currently still in bed but a cereal bar and tea are delivered - outside the room. Nespresso travel cups keep drinks hot for ages. JKP has found coffee still agreeably warm in Southampton when made and placed in said vessel here in The Brecks. No, no refills per Trigger's broom. @lindisfel enjoy your potato - you can take the boy out of The Fens ..... @dogslife I too hope the face to face appointment tomorrow goes well. Hugs for the fbg and the trim blowing off the conservatory. @alf_Josiah I'm sure Mrs A j's trifles are divine dahling, simply divine. @dunelm thanks for the latest edition of and addition to your art. Good news on the mini MOT. @gennepher more wonderful autumnal colours in today's creative. Thank you. @Annb hug for Neil and your obvious concern for him. @SlimLizzy winner for yourself and Mr Slim leaving food for the wildlife and working so hard to make the home you want and deserve, Any news on either the missing art or your grandchild? Paxlovid mouth seems to have gone but thanks be to God and those to whom He gifted the skills as the tablets seem to have worked. Fascinating Fitbit stats from before the pills and during. May not be accurate but the direction of travel clearly mirrors how I felt and how the symptoms virtually melted away. Have the best day available

Hello friends!

Fbg this morning 5.2...not looking forward to testing tomorrow as I had kfc chicken for dinner :/ anyone else enjoy a cheeky meal every now and then??

Hope everyone has a wonderful day x
Good to hear from you. As for the KFC, she'll be right mate. I'm sure people have cheeky meals now and again and are fine. I had a can of soup for evening meal yesterday as I fancied something warm, easy, vaguely familiar and comforting. It was Baxter’s French Onion at 15.3 gms carb for all 400 gms which seemed ok for ready made food but obviously quite high. I had some grated cheese in it to add fat. My total carbs for the day were just over 31 which is high but bearing in mind all my other issues currently, surely no big issue? Did I like it and the feeling of warmth and comfort? - yes. I may try this again when testing. I have just about managed to make LC almost control my bg without too much damage , by eating lots of salad, but I've never managed to make warm LC food anything other than a shambles. Best avoided if at all possible for me.

Another hand up high , here @Jojo85 .

Otherwise,
" it's life Jim, but not as we know it ".
( ©™star trek).

The journey I've just been on, make me agree with @ianpspurs.

On the basis we are Ill in another direction, we sometimes have to balance up the equation of mental health v physical.

And factor in the damage (real OR perceived ) either does short term or long term.

And I'd include the most human of conditions, a little weakness in amongst all the strengths we all have.

We're humans, not robots or machines. ;) ;)

Sure you'll be fine, but you could always ask to postpone, if really concerned ?

I did that this year.
They simply wrote back later to rearrange a new date later in year.

Bear in mind, I believe these results are an important indicator of how well your body is doing 'normally' over a time period.

And, will be a guideline you & your doctors have to have faith in.

Not comfortable with them right now for a good reason ? postpone.

Oops, dashing out & misread your post @Jojo85 as a blood test at hospital / surgery.... :banghead:

Take any result as part of a learning curve , imho

Thank you @ianpspurs and good news on the Paxlovid - results day tomorrow unless postal votes are discounted or delayed by the orange glue brigade.

One of my daughter's had a rough guide to her DNA recently.

Mainly southeast England; 20% Norwegian/Swedish; 4%Scottish.

That must be the reason I like bagpipes!
