What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Just realised - I don't need to make my own mayo. Neil doesn't have it because he is allergic to eggs so it's no danger to him. I'll just stick to not having anything he night be tempted by in anything but olive oil, and not having rapeseed oil itself in the house and all should be well.

12.9 this morning. I was up at 2 am, having gone to bed early (11 pm) because after 3 hours I usually am too sore to stay in bed, but I took some pills and after about an hour I went back to bed and slept until 8 am. That's when I had the 12.9 reading. JUst haviong a cup of tea and then must spring into action - my visitor will come at about 10.

It's dustbin day today, but it doesn't look as though our bins will be going out to the roadside for emptying. Today, my legs just won't let me do it and Neil usually doesn't do it because I insist that it is one job that I can do, but not today. Neil is not too bright at the moment either - he's been getting over-tired doing the plumbing work on his brother's house so I don't want to wake him up. So no bins will be emptied. We'll just have to wait for another fortnight for the next collection day.

I received an appointment yesterday to go for an endoscopy on Monday. I have no idea why I need that since I haven't seen a doctor for many months now. Apparently I was referred about 3 months ago but no idea who by (grammar, I know, but am not being a stickler about that just now) or why. I haven't consulted a doctor in years about stomach problems. Odd.

Good morning everyone it’s another damp start here in the dark and dangerous north but hopefully will just stay overcast. 5.6 on the jaggy bonnet of despair and japes. Never mind. I dragged some low carb bread kicking and screaming out of the freezer, drizzled with olive oil and garlic and shoved onto the griddle - a sort of bruschetta. Freezing and heating lowers the carb loading. Can you make meatballs out of Heck sausages - yes you can. Some tomatoes and basil - pass the wine dahrlings. Exercising after eight bells seems to be good for insulin resistance, Afternoon exercising
Art bit - another one outlined. Have a wonderful day if you can. My koffy is really.

I do gentle exercise when I get up, and the more vigorous exercise in the evening. I sleep better that way.

Some time worn steps in your art bit @dunelm

Enjoy your day...

I had an endoscopy some time ago, well pre covid, and when there was still a doctor at my GP surgery. The appointment came on the Tuesday, for 2 days later, the Thursday. I had no idea who had referred me. I went to the GP surgery, and they said it wasn't them. I went, full of trepidation @Annb and the hospital said it was a male nurse who had referred me, but wouldn't say from where. But I had never seen a male nurse, nor anyone at the GP surgery at that time.

Perhaps they have a top hat where they say, let's draw a random name out, and we will give the lucky winner an endoscopy in a few days time!

Hug for the worry that must cause
Bad enough when you know who or what, but so random like that .

I'd be saying NO, until it got clarified.

Endoscopy is a fairly serious procedure, they don't do it lightly.
I saw a consultant a few weeks ago and they do not advise me having it done because of co-morbidities. They want to do it via CT and contrast medium. It means a another CT and I have had two CTs this year and the above CT is three years worth of radiation.
I can't have MRI due pacemaker.
The. reason for the endoscopy should be on file at your doctors.
Best wishes
Derek

Good morning everyone from the Exotic East where the weather is as good for a November morning as I have a right to expect. Having rescheduled all sorts of appointments yesterday following the negative test I seem to have developed the Paxlovid rebound in the form of something like a heavy cold. JKP is recovering and testing negative but isolation/separation seems a wise precaution. @gennepher and @dunelm thanks for sharing your art. Welcome to those , unwittingly, moved to the chatty thread - @Stephen Bond @Melgar and any I have missed. @dunelm thanks for the link to the exercise schedule. @Krystyna23040 the dog walkers club sounds like the archetypal rural idyll. @lindisfel I hope Marjorie hears about the biopsy soon and hug for the issues of aging and also John. MIL had her knee replacement not long pre-covid when she was in her very late 80s and recovered well and quickly. Your concern for those in need ( see attached) as they age does you great credit but of course we both know the true inspiration. @RFSMarch managing The D your way is a great idea. Enjoy your day everyone

In my case @lindisfel there was nothing on file at my doctor's surgery. There was no information there about any endoscopy, and I had not been to see any doctor, or specialist that year or the year before.

I knew nothing about endoscopy or if it was top end or bottom end. I did turn up for the appointment and I was terrified. It was for 9am on the Thursday, and the letter only came Tuesday afternoon.

No time to investigate where this endoscopy appointment originated from. I cannot use the telephone with being deaf to find out. So I physically went to the GP practice on the Wednesday, but they said there was nothing on record there, and they knew nothing about it, and the endoscopy referral was not initiated by them.

When I got to the hospital I found out it was via mouth. I am asking all kinds of questions because I do not know why I am having it. When I am told there is a camera via mouth going downwards, that was me in a panic. You are anesthesising me I asked. No they said. I got up to leave.

I explained I have excessive dry mouth and throat due to Sjogrens Syndrome, and I am panicking it will get stuck.

Remember I have not seen any specialist at this hospital in Wales, or any hospital in Wales over any issue. I had moved to Wales about 10 years previously.

Although I am terrified, because this whole endoscopy thing was totally out of the blue, there is this wee voice inside me that said I should go through with it.

They agreed to anaesthetise me in the end.

The guy who did the procedure was the actual specialist I saw a couple of weeks later. And he told me of a pile of problems I had, and I got various medications for them, and strategies on how to deal with them.

So, in the event, I was glad I went, and although I questioned the specialist, he could give me no answers as to who referred me except to say it was a nurse. My partner J came with me to the follow up appointment, and he asked as well who had referred me, the specialist just said a male nurse again.

The specialist was a lovely kind friendly guy.

But it still bewilders me who initiated this.. maybe it was an angel?

Thanks @ianpspurs for the compliment.

Hugs for the Paxlovid rebound.
Take care.
