What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Cynically I wonder how much it cost in donations to the political party or people awarding the contract. As for the signage I'm guessing it wasn't specified or costed so "no one is at fault" We apologise unreservedly and lessons will be learned is all the go. Except, that is, by those whose whole legitimacy as a political project or aim if there actually is one can't survive even contemplating the lessons of the attached.
If I were a soul in a different state to the one I live in, I would be depressed about all this. I am angry, but won't give in to depression. I think most people feel helpless in the current situation, as do I. All I can do is pray for better times for everyone. However, I suspect the answer to my prayer will be "Yes, but just hold on - better times will come whether you can see it or not". What a world we are leaving for our children and their children! Maybe some of their generation can make things better. Mine is a dead loss. I gather this is why neither my niece nor my nephew wanted to have children. They think the world is not a place for children to be brought into. I wonder if my generation - my age and a bit younger were so spoiled by being able to "have it all" in the 60's and 70's that some felt so comfortable disregarding anything that didn't hurt or harm them, and the devil take the hindmost. And then, many of us raised a generation who felt that correct behaviour was to exploit everything/everybody to enhance their own wealth and power.

On brighter things - my clever son, Neil, has fixed my dishwasher. He had a look online to see what the problem might be, but that was no help, so he just stripped down what he could and cleaned it all out, fixed what appeared to be an electrical fault and, hey presto! I have a working dishwasher. Clever fellow, my Neil.

FBG today: 13.9. Should be coming down now - I've taken insulin and had breakfast. That should work.

Wonderful news about the dishwasher. I have often said here the generation with the most reason to hang their/our heads in shame are boomers pt1 and pt2. As for things getting better or not having children born into this mess, isn't that what Advent and the Christian message are about? All human longing for a world like Isaiah 55 is doomed to failure because of our sinful nature. History is littered with Empires, Golden Ages and isms that didn't deliver - never could or would. Doesn't mean we don't hope/dream, strive to get close, call out the current brood of vipers knowing it was and will be ever thus until ???. This iteration is stirring a cynical war on woke and other mendacious nonsense - we can't pay x, y or z more. The anti M and H whineathon sure looks like, walks like and quacks like racism with large sides of jealousy and denial. Throw in mysogyny for Clarkson. The old I'm not racist but .... excrement won't fly with Millennials and Gen Z - glory be for that.

There is something wrong in the remit given to the architect by the Trust buying the hospital. Comes back to incompetence, or uncaring people wanting to have their name associated with some grandiose scheme. If a chosen architect offers a design which is "beautiful" but inadequate, he/she should be shot down and go back to basics so that design follows function, not the ego of the designer.
That's the point they don't buy the hospital with private finance they pay so much per annum to rent the facilities.
It looks good on the accounts.

We have a government that breaks or disregards treaties and laws with impunity. They have a huge majority in parliament so they could just pass a law to alter this and maybe send the directors of certain hedge funds or whoever rakes in the money to a nice hotel in Rwanda as a goodwill gesture :D

Our 4 year old granddaughter has had scarlet fever then tonsillitis then chicken pox and is now in hospital with pneumonia. Her parents were told there would be a 15 hour wait for an ambulance despite the East of England area not taking industrial action. Goodness knows what the rest of the country is like. He parents took her to Addenbrookes themselves.
As said, she's in the right place, as awful as that place can seem .

Best wishes for her speedy recovery.

Despite what the MSM want us to believe, the care from those giving of themselves is as good as they can give.

Sure, we can moan about the edges of care, the choice of foods for example but at its core, OUR NHS staff are the very best of us.

Working hard, sometimes against impossible odds, and as proven throughout a pandemic.

Where priority of THIS government was protecting and feathering their own private lives, themselves AND their access to an avalanche of corruption & grift.

Many in the NHS put their own lives in harms way, to look after each one of us, unlucky enough to be in need of their care.

Given a choice to jettison one group over the others.
I'd pick the politicians time & time again.

To have clapped before was respectful, to refuse to properly discuss pay or fund improvements is a slap in the face to everyone who ever needs it.

If they lose.
We all lose.

You're quite right. I'd forgotten about that aspect of building new hospitals, schools etc. It shouldn't make a difference to the design; it should be perfectly possible even given the financial shenanigans, to build something fit for purpose. When any building which is to serve the public is built, there should be real and meaningful consultation with the projected users. Doesn't happen, of course.

Where there's a will there's a way. I'm tempted to say follow the money; be that donations, bungs or nice little earners as consultants. There have always been insinuations of such things but social media, "citizen journalists" and the "decline in deference" have brought far more stories into the public domain.

The "Wisdom of Crowds" YouTube video, while really about T2D, does address this nicely.

The buttress from the MSM sadly, is that even supposed 'reputable* ' journalist, who do seem to be believed & trusted by many, obscure & muddy the waters with their version of gas lighting, as commanded by their owners/seniors/controllers..(delete as applicable)

*Really...all the 'respected' journalists, with that ear in number 10, always update to date with upcoming news first.

Knew NOTHING of the endless parties at No 10, they were at a reasonable guess, even at for some of them...mmmh.

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice ?..shame on me .

Like the post massively but I have a real blockage with the phrase Wisdom of Crowds. I can't get past crowds shouting free Barabbas, wildly cheering at infamous rallies, for certain Dear Leaders, chanting lock her up, claiming elections were stolen, voting for That B Woman, Corbyn or Party Boy. I must have the wrong end of the stick on the meaning but I can't shift those images whenever I read that phrase. Agree the r/w press are complicit in gas lighting. You're doing fine with bg control McGarret can wait - who the heck is or was he/she/it anyhow?

Back home. In my own bed.
Go to see Midnight.
He was asleep on my bed.
He blinked at me...slow blink...'oh you back then'...not in the least bit fazed that I had been gone overnight...'been keeping your bed warm for you'...

He had barely touched the mountains of food I had left (I had probably left enough for a week), and there was still a little outside food left as well (probably the whole countryside came in to partake of that), but this opens up the possibility I could be gone for two nights for my eye hospital appointment next year, and take a taxi for the eye hospital from the hotel next year which would take me to the hospital entrance, and a taxi back to the hotel. I cannot do that walking again.

I need to start saving now....

More in the context & idea that only those who spoke & read Latin back in the day or more recent times, had access to print runs, could distribute en mass and control what a wider audience read or knew.

I accept the narrative you mention on Might (aka numbers ) being right & fully agree it's loaded with dangers.

But the idea of village elders using proven experiences to spread that wisdom though the tribe, I very much like.

If they don't die, it might be safe to try
If they do, yikes....well, perhaps it's not.

Akin to how we get told carbs are not our real issue ,
Yet for many, they are.

Would I of had the choice to try getting back to the 40 I managed, without the wisdom of the crowd on here ..I very much doubt it.

Like all knowledge, it can be abused in the wrong hands .

In the hands of the Self Annointed...
Dangerous, of which this government has been a prime example, repeatedly.

( "Fully prepared" Matt Hancock Jan 23rd 2020 HoC speech. ? )

But in the hands of the many...
Whether the many, may have access to an audience of dozens or millions.

We get to assess the veracity & risks and make our own minds up.

I'll take my chances treading that line, over being parented by "those who know best"

But I do take your point.

Nicely worded reply. I can see your point of view from that. Still have no idea who or what McGarret is or was. Spoken to my Chelsea supporting family they've no idea.

Well, in the vernacular of my yoof & applicable today.

McGarrett was the main lead in Hawaii 5.0
A cops & robbers based in Hawaii.

For today, the 5.0 is the police, the feds, the old bill, etc.
Back then (for my part ) it was also slang for a nifty, a bullseye ...£50 in local parlance.

Which chimed in my head when I recognised how many craved the much vaunted safe fbg numbers of 5.0 something & below....a bullseye.

And keeping it on a police note..

Stay out of trouble, you're ok.
But push the envelope & you could be courting trouble ....sort of.

My imagination has always been quite vivid when writing.

So weirdly I began writing as if the forum and our shared personal, discussions & battles dealing with T2D,
Could be likened to being shipwrecked & finding ourselves in a new land.

Populated by T2D pioneers, many of whom, had arrived in earlier waves and were off exploring & staking claims and building settlements.

With McGarrett plains for my part, being the promised land.

A place where those safely into 5 fbg territory reside..a sort of happy valley.

So "McGarrett" just references 5.0 and the hope that a steady fbg offers safety from complications.

Too long...?

I have a vivid imagination.
And found making a backdrop helped make sense of a lot of the changes T2D forces on us.

Excused by :
Devouring so many books
or being literally, if not actually an only child
or just mad ?

..who knows ...:hilarious:

A funny for seeing through the eyes of a cat so accurately .

An utterly horrendous journey to the hospital so far away.

Well done for overcoming such obstacles so valiantly.

Liking your angle of attack for the next trip there .

Just such a shame it comes to having to save up to be able to actually attend.

But it is a good plan.

Fbg 6.9

Nighttime trail camera ...
House cat (Midnight) checks on his best friend, stray cat (Jade), who is asleep on the swing many times every night whatever the weather is...

Creative is a digital painting of winter...

I am already on my 4th cuppa!
I have a great vacuum flask that keeps my water piping hot all night, and on the bedtable is a selection of teas and chicory coffee....

Chicory coffee is my choice this minute...
