What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone on a wonderfully quiet start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. I know it’s a bit early (by about 30 hours) but we are off to the shops this morning, 8am so I have been informed. I did volunteer to go by myself but Mrs Miggins is concerned that I may buy things off list. What cheek. All things being well, my sister will be let out of hospital tomorrow. She is in palliative care so not sure how long this will last but she would like to have this, her last Christmas in her own house. ‘They’, the hospital ‘they’ are putting a bed and other bits and bobs into her house and she will have a nurse twice a day. Her daughter will also be driving up from Bordeaux to be with her. Art bit - the start of the detailing. I hope that you all have a wonderful day and that all turns out well for everyone you know. I shall drink some koffy and then make my annual pilgrimage to the shower room - we are going to Aldi after all!

I have a great vacuum flask that keeps my water piping hot all night, and on the bedtable is a selection of teas and chicory coffee....

Chicory coffee is my choice this minute...

Isn’t it wonderful, being in your own space - especially the joy of your own bed. Beautiful winter scene, I do like the colour choices, enjoy that chicory.

Midnight was funny when I came in...it was weird being welcomed back home by a slow blinking cat!

Thanks, it is the best plan I can come up with. My eyes are important to me, especially with being deaf and lipreading etc All our eyes are important. But that is one appointment that has to be attended at all cost.

I realise I wrote a lot these two days, and you all got my roller coaster of varying emotions and feelings as the two days progressed. But it helped me tremendously, and the support on here.

I am glad palliative care is providing for your sister to be at home for Christmas, as she wishes.

Personally I find it very cathartic.
And really helps, simply putting down the day or worries in words, to organise my thoughts into much clearer lines .

Hi Ian,
Driving with two eyes is far better than one.
Carlisle which we had to cross was almost grid locked. When we got to the clinic which is at Harraby (where they hung the invading Scots for all to see) a space appeared as a car pulled out in front of us.
The clinic seemed to be over loaded with patients and we went in 40mins after our time and we saw a more junior medic who mumbled and didn't know Marjorie's case, so she asked to see the Prof who came in briefly.
The histology clearly said no cancer found but it looks like circulation in lower legs is cause the changes to the skin ....Stasis dermatitis.
To clear it she has use a steroid cream for two weeks and go back and see if there an improvement. His junior colleage would not answer any questions as how could we mitigate the problems and just mumbled rapidly.
It was a very unsatisfactory consultation.

The fish and chips were good and we picked up the prescription in Wigton ok and the Christmas lights were very cheery.

We spoke on the phone last night to Abigail at York and she bent my ear about doing more exercise.:)

The hug is for the unsatisfactory consultation with the junior doctor. But also so you should have a winner for Marjorie insisting on seeing seeing the Prof doctor albeit too briefly.

I am glad your car parking space magically appeared! I love it when that happens!

I hope you see a more competent doctor next time x
 
5.4 this morning. Yesterday did lots of admin. Am also catching up with throwing out and shredding stuff that I haven't had time to read as I am usuallyg

On Monday I sent a 6 page lesson plan of exercises for class members to practice over the break - if they have any spare time over Christmas.

Yesterday my Professional Body sent me a link to 6 training videos for me study - if I have any spare time over Christmas.

The phrase 'great minds think alike' immediately sprung to mind :) :)

Actually I am really pleased that they have done this as two of the videos are by my absolutely favourite teachers.
 
Good morning all. My Lat flow test was negative so off into a small town in The Fens for my immunotherapy. Thanks be to God and those administering His love despite being pilloried by those who should be administering justice. Remarkable how the causes of those riots seem so current. @dunelm thanks for sharing your art, do enjoy the Aldi experience - this will liven up your sprouts if you don't eat it first (sorry JKP) . I'm glad your sister's wish to be home has been granted but hug for you and your family at this time. @gennepher thanks for sharing the video, creative and all the words of your life - carry on. Your life often seems to echo Simon and Garfunkel's Keep the customer satisfied. Have a rest and set up camp :D in that bed. @lindisfel good news on the parking space, joy from the lights and fish and chips, less so on the sub-optimal junior doctor.
@jjraak full explanation of McGarret is much appreciated. Today's Advent poem and art here. Isaiah 56.1-8 seems a better idea to me than sending them to Rwanda or putting them on modern day hulks. As with the Littleport Martyrs there may be no justice shown by those God allows and expects to lead his people righteously but alcohol fuelled riots aren't the answer. Yes, thank you, I am fully camped out in this bed with thermos, devices, tea bags, chicory coffee, art work, books.....
And a large heavy black fur blanket...purring away...
And a long handled grabber to reach and grab anything just out of reach....

FBG 8.9 - it was pretty high last night for no obvious reason, so no surprise that it didn't drop all that far. Currently up to 12.8 but I have not long since taken insulin and had breakfast, so it should start dropping now. The 8.9 was at 4 am and at that point I took painkillers with a couple of teaspoons of yoghurt - can't get them down otherwise - and followed with a cup of tea. That's probably why it goes up at that time.
 
Happy national bin day afternoon ladies and gentlemen and all who delight in the laughter and sheer joy of life found in children who don’t read and watch the out pouring of the news media.

This mornings blood sugars were 5.1 .

Here in Tilehurst Towers towers Christmas officially starts today, we have our grandchildren all day, we always have a BBQ at lunch time this time of year, but eat inside and for their early evening meal they will be having a Chinese takeaway, a special treat.
Activities today include substituting the chocolate in the Ferrereo Rocher with sprouts as a little gift for their parents, while eating the chocolates as a snack, don’t panic it is a small box.
Wrapping gifts from them for Mrs J, then hiding said gifts, but leaving location clues. Hanging sweets on the Christmas trees, yes Mrs J has two trees. Finally just enjoying themselves.

After a month of medical appointments today feels like it’s time to relax and start to enter into the festive spirit, no not alcohol spirits, but maybe a glass of Merlot later tonight.

Well it’s time for me, me’s and myself to go and lead the grandchildren astray while receiving yet another telling off, totally unjustified of course.

Stay safe, stay warm while avoiding as many tasks as possible.
