What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and those who celebrate national bin day in all its variants.

I am still taking a break from posting bloos dugars, oh ok a 6.1 this morning, better than yesterday’s 4.8.

As I posted a week or so ago when I’d just finished a batch of 6 appointments in 20 or so days thinking hurrah no more medical stuff till the new year, well yesterday afternoon I get a phone call from one of the GP’s practice doctors, saying things like just doing a follow up etc, etc. Yeah right. The conclusion is I have a face to face appointment this afternoon, which will lead on to more medical stuff, oh well stops me robbing banks and building societies, oh and riding my motorcycle.

Mrs J has decreed that me, me’s and myself must do important things today like I know not what but will be informed in the due process of time.

If you still have any turkey left over you have my deepest sympathy. Now I must depart and make Mrs J’s tea.

Good morning everyone, it’s picking up already here in the dark an dangerous north. The Ninky Nonks have already had breakfast and are busy enacting some prophetic Christmas tear jerker staring Kan-you West and Meghan Mouthwash about fallen stars (almost) working as bin collection operatives apprentices while waiting in eager anticipation for the arrival of the real bin lorry cavalcade parading gaily down our street this morning to check out the accuracy of costumes. Art bit - all ready now for some colouring in. Have the very best day that you can have. I am in full skiving mode this afternoon but before entering that luxurious state of being, I better make koffy and sort some breakfast out for Little Miss Pamplemouse who has just woke up.

Here is my little angel!
He is looking over my left shoulder...
I turn carefully around, but no one is there...
I turn back to Midnight but he is doing the slow blink.

I think he has lost a little weight. He was a football shape when he arrived, then he was more rugby ball shaped, now his body is starting to look more cat shaped...he is still a heffalump though. But it is easier to grasp him to lift him now...

Good morning all. fbs today was 17.7 :arghh:. Gliclizide taken straight after breakfast. I keep taking the max. dose of Gliclizide & Metformin as prescribed but -not being effective. I expect after my next HbA1c they will change my medication. On a cheerier note my birthday is on the 12th day of Christmas, Epiphany. This year has a 0 in it so I'm considering an informal afternoon tea at home for family and friends. I cannot arrange it on the actual day as children will be back at school and younger adults back at work. So I am considering next Monday 2nd instead. I will have to check who is able to come before buying in food which doesn't give much time due to New Year closures. Better get a move on!! Here's wishing you all a good day and a Happy, safe and healthy 2023.:)

7.8 this morning at 3.30. 8.5 an hour later. Pretty good. Don't know what I did right.

Been having trouble with Amazon in thelast few days. It was all my bank's fault. They have moved to a different organisation for their debit cards (some problem they'd been having with Visa) and, for some reason, my old debit card won't dislodge from my prime subscription or my "Subscribe and save" subscription. To sort it out I've had to delete my subscriptions and will have to resubscribe once Amazon has noticed - which they haven't so far, despite their agent saying it had been done.

That is so annoying @Annb

It is, a bit, but there is another online annoying thing. I wanted to use the e-consult system rather than try to get an appointment to see a doctor at this stage, but they've changed it. Now it only seems to accept a reduced range of problems and keeps going round in circles. I try not to get too annoyed by technical things but it does irritate when systems don't work for the user and only someone with a fair amount of knowledge can find their way through. I suppose I will just have to wait now until after the New Year break and phone to talk to a doctor.

Good afternoon everyone from a day of starkly polarised emotions in this household. Second Christmas with four grandchildren, Santa left presents at our house as he was tired . Soon it will be turkey with many of the trimmings including Iggle Piggles in blankets. Meanwhile, Nan London, 93 exactly a week today, is in hospital on an intravenous antibiotic drip, steroids and permanent oxygen. No visitors allowed but she answered her phone today: she is some fighter DNR or not. @gennepher hug for getting wet and cold yesterday and thanks for the creative. After all the feline cuddles tomorrow should bring a much brighter outlook. @dunelm thanks for sharing both the art and that snippet of family life - wonderful. Bin day (black) is tomorrow here. No 3 son says Ely won't hear of black bins, too unsightly. Split black sacks and rodent infestations are so much more comely. @alf_Josiah I hope the face to masked? face is whatever it needs to be. @dogslife pre-birthday wishes and I hope the celebration is truly memorable. @Annb hug for the bank issue and e-consult. JKP phoned 111 for her mum Tuesday around 2.00 pm. Finally made contact yesterday at 3.55 pm - how can we help?. Meanwhile, after a failed e-consult - not enough staff -.and call to her surgery another 111 call worked and her mum was already as described above. Today’s poem from Malcolm Guite’s anthology. More sprouts anyone?

Had 30mins in garden this am tidying up some leaves and putting them on compost heap.
Also found old Brock had made four latrines and had to tidy them up by throwing the mess in the hedge.

Not very warm today in the strong wind c.6.0c. glad to come in and get warm.
Heavy showers this pm. It won't be nice walking on the tops today. I bet the daily report from Helvellyn makes interesting reading.

Hi Ian,
I see Princess Catherine's service had a Malcolm Guitar poem on it.

Yes @Annb
I found that a year ago.
e-consult had a wide range of stuff a couple of years or so ago. It seemed quite good.

Then it reduced accessibility of the site drastically for me. And like for you, it went round and round in circles, with no actual means to get anywhere with it. Or else an irrelevant questionnaire on 'my gambling habits', or 'my alcoholic habits', with no option not to answer the questionnaire would pop up. And the four possible answers you could tick which was nearest to me were actually loaded answers, and I did not accept any of the possible answers. So, I came out and tried again. Same happened again.

A friend said I wasn't using it properly. Fine! I said, you do this with me! So, she did. Finally, she conceded I was right, it was unnavigable, or rigged so you gave up.

That is such a shame. You would have thought that they would have made the system user friendly and bug free as it is so important for patients to get good information quickly.

If it worked properly it would also take the pressure off doctors.
