What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Do you guys think there any truth in the US (insurance companies?) Wanting to buy the NHS?
D.
To my mind there's been an awful lot of smoke coming from that vicinity for such a long time for there not to be a fire somewhere. Having had some examples of what goes on in my bonce y'all may conclude if he thinks that then there's no truth in that rumour at all.

Good morning everyone on this last morning of the year here in the dark and dangerous north. Wait a second, or if you like “the duration of 9,192,631,770 periods of the radiation corresponding to the transition between two hyperfine levels of the ground state of the caesium 133 atom” - just which arbitrary period of time are we thinking about here - I shall stick to the one forced upon us by that Julian fellow which seems popular despite the day of daftness every four years.
At 1 minute to 10am GMT, my cousin, who lives in Auckland, will slap a slice of bread onto the ground and I will do the same, thus making a ”this year, next year, this year, last year” earth sandwich while watching Freddy Frinton in Dinner for One in both Low German, Plattdeutsch, Colognian (Kölsch) and Hessian (no, not that hessian). It’s a big tradition in Germany - oh how we laughed.
Art bit - a ball of confusion by The Temptations. Have the most wonderful day that you can manage, we are looking after the girl in the bubble as her parents are both krank with lurgy. Still, there is the prospect of some decent koffy in a few minutes.

Oh dear....

That's my problem, after lunch I sit in a comfortable chair and go to sleep in the afternoon. I wish I could keep awake.
D.
I had a long nap!
I had been to the shops in the pouring rain...rain only pours here, and it invariably makes me tired....

Now to do my 'early morning' post a good few hours late...

Fbg...I've forgotten, but it was 6.something...

Wildlife nighttime camera...

Foxy Loxy, badger KissyKissy, cat Jade, and cat Midnight patrolling ...
Badger KissyKissy has not been around for awhile. She has not shown an interest in Jade like she did in Midnight.

Creative...a digital painting of a winter's day...

Did your you see Ian there's a prog on the Fens tomorrow early am. Since I don't look at TV before 10am I shall record it.... BBC2 tomorrow am...0710 to 0810
Thanks Derek and Happy New Year to you and Marjorie. We have seen it a few times and I thought we had it on permanent keep so this time I shall make it so. It features places and scenes I miss a great deal. I actually miss the smell of the Fen Washes at this time of year. Of course here we have no abiding home but my earthly terroir is very specific. Yes Joni, don't it always seem to go etc.

Hi Ian,
Helen is spending from last Thursday to Monday at St.Oswald's retreat at Whitby, so I took to looking up his history. He was king of Northumbria, died in battle at 38 with king of Mercia. He brought the priests from Ireland to convert us heathens. The Raven seems to have been associated with him. I didn't realise he was buried at Bardney monastery, which the Danes put an end to, two centuries later. Long before Lincoln minster would be visible ten miles away and Boston Stump near the Wash 30 miles away.

I spent sometime at Bardney in my youth birding at the filter ponds for the sugar beet factory. We thought it nothing then to riding a push bike a hundred miles so Bardney was a short run to us on the straight flat roads.

Helen goes to see her sister in York monday.

Let's hope this one's a great one for all of us xx

Happy New Year everyone. First day of 2023 holds the promise of sun and a moderate breeze here. Lovely family meal yesterday with some very tender beef and a 2008 St Emilion. A good but perhaps not quite a great vintage due to mists and frosts at the wrong times but ready for drinking. Definitely the better of the two wines which have been drunk this last week that I have been keeping. If not now, when? Among the veggies were kalettes not sprouts, no prep and much milder, Must have missed those earlier - bubble-n-squeak with celeriac? Interesting how all our grandchildren like carrots, must be the Fen genes - I prefer Levis (none of that shrink to fit malarkey any more) but hey ho. Thanks be to God for the blessings in your creation, and to those who gave their life or used your gifts to elevate the raw materials into something profound. Something well beyond what was on the table - what you see doesn't begin to encompass everything that meal meant. @gennepher thank you for the creative yesterday. @lindisfel I hope your daughter finds the retreat useful and enjoys time with her sister. Thanks again for reminding me of the Fens programme. Now, if you will all excuse me, I must contact Eon-Next about reducing my DD. My Smart Meter shows I’ve hardly used any kwhs all this year. Poem, art and wonderful song. For something published in 1850 Tennyson certainly captures the spirit of our own age perfectly for me. Your mileage may vary. Have a spiffing NYD - how's the head and are those sequins still attached?

Good morning and a Happy New Year to all from the dark and dangerous north. Who knows what this year will be like but let’s hope it’s not rushing about like lunatics in supermarkets trying to grab the latest bottle of pop - there is a new virus spreading in the air and it’s name is”regression” so do take care out there. The sun is shining today so a lovely New Years Day walk is on the cards - must remember to take my radar key (a must have survival tool). Art bit - starting to add some details. Bonus image for @jjraak. Have a wonderful day if you decide to. I shall have a second koffy.

Thank you for sharing the latest episode of just be patient and you will find out how my art develops into a thing of wonder. Very droll way to let us know your fbg. Wonder wheel/.Swipey or Stabbington Minor that is good going. Enjoy your walk and do remember the radar key. Perhaps best to ensure the sensible and organised member of the partnership reminds you. That always works for @Krystyna23040 :D Just saying.

Happy New 2023!

Wildlife cameras:
Cat Jade keeping an eye out on her garden...

Main characters:
Cat Jade who is very watchful this night. Her face got rather close to the fox, and I am not sure of her intentions if Foxy had got any closer...
Cat Midnight doing his usual patrolling...
Foxy Loxy who is mooching around as usual, but ventures a closer look at Jade...
Skinny Fox whose dancing eyes are watching from the bushes...

It is still raining here. My back garden is a quagmire...

Creative is something different.
I haven't used ZenBrush on the iPad mini yet.
Completely forgot how to use both versions.
I was comfortable doing the digital paintings before Xmas.
So, therefore it is time to go on to something more challenging.

Failure. I have totally forgotten how to use both apps. Struggled.
This is my first attempt. I will let you see my failures as well.

I ended up putting the painting from ZenBrush into Procreate app to try and retrieve it...more failure.

Okay my second attempt will be tomorrow.

New year. New Challenges.

Time for a nap...

And a cuppa...

Thank you for honestly sharing your less successful moments but still producing something memorable and revealing that indomitable spirit of yours. I - we - await your assured triumph over the latest obstacle because that's what Genn does.

Thank you so very much @ianpspurs for that lovely compliment.

These stairs are like dominoes @dunelm
You think you're getting somewhere, and then suddenly half way up, they collapse one on the other and you disappear into the unknown abyss...
