What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Daughter from Merseyside coming up this week on Tuesday and taking me to Newcastle Freeman on Wednesday to have my pacemaker checked, been on this battery nearly 9 years, so not much life left in battery.

Carlisle hospital are supplying me with two hearing aids in February so I have no excuse when the duchess mumbles!:)

Thank you @alf_Josiah. Yes it was a good one as we all walked away from it. Made my claim to the insurance company today. Car will be repaired locally. It looks as though we will have to wait for a courtesy car as the company that provides them already has 19 people waiting for one. Mr K will chauffeur me until then. Actually I don't mind as I have lost my confidence a little.

Imagine it's the time of year, be lots of little prangs given the icy weather.

A little TLC from Mr K, will likely see you through the worst of the winter weather.

And every day away is a day closer to the evenings getting lighter and the roads less so icy.

Mother used a shovel full of earth on paper near the back door which our cat managed really well when he had to stay in, he seldom caused it to come off the shovel when he was 'covering up'. The earth in the shovel smelt right before he used it. Would a pile of earth outside the door and a hand coal shovel help?
It could easily be thrown away and replenished each day.

Well all I can say is this morning's fbg was 7.8.

As for car accidents who am I to judge when I hit snow covered ice approaching a set of traffic lights in a brand new Mercedes and slid into the back of a truck there really was nowt could be done about it so let those without sin throw the first stone though my grandson still never lets me forget it.

Bye the way he starts jury duty tomorrow woe betide any felon whose trial he is part of the jury on.

Beware of courtesy car small print and takes lots of photos of said car.

Yes, there have been rather a lot of prangs in the icy weather. Hopefully later next week we will lose the icy weather.
 
Milk makes no difference at all to BG. That's was the result I really wanted. But something is happening to make my BGs drop really low as the day goes on.

It might be something to do with gradually moving my basal dose towards taking it overnight. I will have to reduce the amount of my bolus dose as well. Today I took it down by 10 units before each meal - obviously not enough of a reduction, although 60 units has not been enough in the past. Tomorrow will reduce it by another 5 units before each meal. The experiment continues.

FBG at 3.30 am was 7.0 - BG before bed was 5.0. Took my basal insulin at that point. (Trying to get it back to before bed time.) It rose to 10.9 by 4.30 when I took a smaller than usual correction dose. Down to 6.5 by 6.30 after 2 cups of tea with milk.We'll see what the day brings.

Good morning everyone on a day that promises to be a little warmer than yesterday here in the dark and dangerous north. Wonder how many layers that means? Another birthday appeared yesterday - great nephew became one year old so a good excuse for grown ups to meet at local Rugby club - bring a child or just claim one. Grandparents and Great Grandparents get a free pass for starting all this mess in the first place. Great occasion for a catch up but hope I don’t catch anything else with so many people wanting to hug despite the full PPE with matching hat and gloves. A barge pole would have been more useful. Still, the inclusion of a curry (no rice please) was very pleasant amid the usual high carb alternatives and just how quickly can you peel a pork pie? Nice video catch up with one of my brothers once we got home. He lives in a place called Valkenberg which is in Limburg, Netherlands but we get to see each other virtually. Art bit, started adding some detail but didn’t get much done. Have a smashing day if you can, I am under strict orders to wake Mrs Miggins at the precise time of 0918 - weirdo. Now, where is that cafetière.

My mother in law used to use a coal shovel full of cold ashes from the fire, by the kitchen door....
