What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

7.0 this morning. Only did 11.5K steps yesterday Donna really pleased that doing less exercise didn't cause BS to raise. Off to Sheringham Park shortly for a lovely walk. Shame it isn't sunny, but at least it isn't raining - hopefully.
@ianpspurs Predictive text is at it again. Who on earth is Donna. What a strange word to insert - even for predictive text.

Mmmm - didn't think of that, but not sure mould would be good for the birds, or cats (they might eat it if the birds refused). Compost will happily eat it though.
Are dairy products good for composting?

Sensible clothing. In Sainsbury’s? Are you mad? Surely children go to bed in Disney cartoon outfits nowadays like their mums go shopping in onesies. Enjoy that super salmon salad."

At two separate service stations we were amazed ( horrified) to see people queuing for food in pyjamas, dressing gowns and trainers. Especially the second lot after 11am.

Wildlife camera...
Fox & Cats & me
I went out because there had been a loud noise in the night...

Creative is another digital sheep painting. But I need to get started on the day, so I didn't do much detail I normally do with the Thylacine brush stroke, so it's mostly left with the first broader flat brush stroke, and a little of the fine brush stroke of Syrup, to get that fine line round the eyes...

Have your best kind of day...I am stuck by the front window...Royal Mail are delivering a parcel between 09:19 and 13:19...it is blowing a hoolie out there.

And I have upset Midnight. I just tried singing to him. He sunk his teeth (no blood) into the fleshy part of my hand, and left the premises...

Time for a cuppa...

My mother tells me she is nearly back to normal and my brother confirms return of appetite, although she still tires easily. Great relief all round.
Today an unusually busy day. MrSlim is installing the last skylight in the attic. Cutting a hole in the roof to accommodate it.
I have been planting a few rather weedy looking cauliflower and cabbage plants in the new insect proof enclosure we made together yesterday. Of course Kiki thinks this is for her benefit and we had to have some stern words about the effect of claws on the netting before she decided to investigate other opportunities for entertainment. During the afternoon Kiki joined me in the cider press building where I was sorting, splitting and transporting to the woodshed logs that MrSlim had cut a few days ago. Kiki was excitable - climbing up the supports and then demanding a rescue when unable to get down. She went to new heights managing to get onto the roof and then needing a rescue. After much persuasion she learnt to use a ladder so I left her up there knowing that the nearest apple tree where a pair of blackbirds are nesting was a leap too far for her.
To my surprise another cat visited. A full Tom! Maybe Kiki wandered while we were away and they made friends. I havent seen any other cats except the two who live here for a couple of years. There are no visiting strays. Kiki is just over six months old and has an appointment at the vets in ten days. Just in time I think.
I watched her hasten down the ladder to meet him. He did the slow blink that @gennepher talks about and a little chirping noise, which Kiki returned. Very handsome cat, brown tabby and white with lovely pale green eyes and friendly. When I told MrSlim about him he suggested an exchange!
Maybe it was mean of me, but I did the strict cat mom thing and took her inside despite her protests " but Mum, there's a boy come to call" he hung around for a while, both of them checking out all the doors and windows. Kiki very excited charging round trying to get out, but I am firm. No kittens for you Girl.
A welcome side effect of her hormones is the sudden increase in affection for us. MrSlim actually asked "what is wrong with her - she is being friendly?"
So tonight I had Kiki cuddled up in my arms and purring for a long time. ( cant remember the last time she did this) Until she was distracted by cheetahs on Tv.
Now if she would just catch the mouse that arrived in the kitchen today we will all be happy.20230219_161259.jpg20230219_175448.jpg

Truly 'back to life' this morning

Covid express into work ...
(Too far, too dark, too cold to cycle.:( )

Fbg a glorious 6.1....
And the promise land must surely hove into view just over the horizon, some time soon, hallelujah.

Got a call late late night

Michael's cat, if you recall me saying, had been re-home but escaped

Reported to be back in street, skinny & bedraggled.

Half hour silly o'clock trying to find her, no joy

Maybe today someone will see & feed her ..<pray>

Kiki is definitely in 'I want kittens' posture on the roof in second photo, and Tom is saying he will oblige.
She needs to visit the cat doctor pronto, before you have a dozen little Kikis...
Unless of course you would like more Kikis @SlimLizzy

Someone will feed her @jjraak

Then you'll be able to catch her...

I have given in.

This new ginger stray, a very handsome vividly coloured ginger cat has decided that he is staying.
He has learnt that I am the boss human.
He tried boldly coming in my kitchen for cat food the other evening, while I was making a cuppa.
He looked at me confidently with a face saying 'I know you are the nice lady...'
I took a step towards him, 'Oh no you don't me lad..' I said to him. He fled, and has not been back in the kitchen.

His new strategy to get this gullible human on his side, is now to sit outside my full length glass bedroom door that leads into the garden, and looking at me straight in the eyes, doing the trusting slow eye blink...

So, I have named him...Marmalade - because of his vivid colouring.

Wildlife night time camera...
Cat Merlin, takes on Cat Marmalade...on a dark and stormy night...

Cat Midnight takes his place on the swing.
Cat Merlin enters the scene.
Cat Merlin takes on cat Marmalade (the latest stray cat who seems to have decided that he is staying).
Cat Merlin is a gentle cat, who I have never seen taking on another cat, nor in a yowling match.
The cats get very close in the yowling match.
Then that clip runs out (my wildlife camera is set for 2 minute clips).
But then, the camera on the other side of the swing starts recording.
And you can see this from a different angle, and how close the two cats heads are. And you can see the cat in the foreground (Marmalade) which (unbelievably to me, because Merlin is a more slightly built cat than Marmalade), submitting the back of his (Marmalade's) neck to Merlin, rubbing the top of his head and the back of his neck against Merlin's chin (looks very vulnerable for Marmalade), and Marmalade carefully slowly walks away. Merlin has won this match.

The fox makes an appearance.
Then Merlin sits down and has a word with Midnight sitting on the swing.
The badger comes along and sniffs the tail of one of the ginger cats who is feeding from the cat biscuits on the swing. The ginger cat (I think it is Marmalade, because Merlin would have snarled and smacked KissyKissy on the nose), objects, but has to run away. So the badger (whom I call KissyKissy for obvious reasons), goes to kiss cat Midnight who is sitting on the swing.
This earns KissyKissy snarls and hisses, and a few savage whacks on the nose by Midnight's left paw.
KissyKissy never bears any grudges, she'll be back another day to try for another kiss.

Then along come the two ginger cats walking, following each other around the garden. Midnight watches them.

Creative is a digital painting of a smiley sheep in Procreate. I added the brushstroke of Snowgum, which is like falling leaves, for the background.

Time for a cuppa tea.

Have your best day.

I am going to have to keep an eye on Marmalade to make sure he abides by my rules in this garden...he is free to take all the food he needs, wet food under the swing, and dry cat biscuits on the swing (that is always stocked up because I have the birds to protect)...but no venturing in my bungalow to eat Midnight's food in my bedroom (Midnight's bedroom feeding started when he was ill and I continued it)...
