What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

An interesting question, but I’m with the Buddhists on this one.
Now I'm trying to imagine you sat under a Pipal tree for a year with only a grain of rice for sustenance. Gonna be a long day trying to shift that image. Liked the 7 up quip so no problemo (some "language" so be warned) - I'll save y'all googling for THE t-shirt (££££s, obs) :) Whole other league to don't eat avos or subscribe to Netflix then you too can buy a house. Attached is very sad IMHO - whatever happened to wanting to be a train driver? Nostalgia ain't wot it used to be.

Near 20:20 if it's far enough away, Ian. Really close up - not so good. But then that's the way life is. We can see where others are going wrong - not so easy in ourselves. I like the C of E answer to the question. It's very clearly so, but isn't an asnswer that comes to mind first. Not sure (understatement) what OT is. Actually - no idea. Puzzling doesn't lead me anywhere.

Old Testament in that context. Morning readings for a while have been going through Hosea, Job and Jeremiah. Very much like the teacher saying this is going to hurt me more than it will hurt you at times. Spot on for Lent.

Of course it is! Silly me. I was searching the wrong filing cabinet in my brain, or the wrong area of the conveyor belt. Yes - a bit daunting those Old Timers.

Once again it is morning in Little America, how you doin' ? A grey start to what promises to be a chilly week even though we have shrubs a shrubbing and buds on the bijou fruit trees. One way or another - no royalties for Debs - there is lots of data being mined from wearables around here which just wasn't available before 2007. Whoop seems to be the trending device of those ITK. I'm now debating whether to start wearing a Libre and/or using Stabbington Minimus. @RFSMarch bravo for the exercise and good that the Thai takeaway didn't upset Swipey. @dunelm and @gennepher thanks in advance for the sharing your art. Here are some poems you may or may not like to read - ignore the theme if it helps. Attached is a question the C of E feels we should casually drop into conversation - would be quite a zinger for interviews with politicos. I sincerely hope this doesn't find you as it leaves me since, with one obvious exception, y'all aren't as mad as a box of frogs. Have a nice day and y'all come back real soon now, ya hear?
I am about to share the art work etc in a few minutes!
My kitchen was a disaster zone this morning...
So I am late in starting the day..
You have your best kind of day Ian, and I hope everyone is well (including you!)

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and poor maligned woke aficionados.

A straight 6.0 on that tell it how it is blood sugar meter this morning.

It’s a big day here in Tilehurst Towers. Mrs J is celebrating another year on this third rock from the local fusion reactor in its orbit around said reactor. Being of a kindly nature I have taken Mrs J out for breakfast and also brought her back, well she Mrs J does know how to use the idiot box remote control and washing machine.

One of the delights Mrs J received today is a tea towel with the periodic table of swearing printed on it.

Now it is time to get on with life, stay safe all.

Good morning everyone and welcome to the curtain twitching anticipation to the as yet not delivered freezing spell here in the dark and dangerous north. Word on the street is that supplies of 7Up have dried out in Liverpool and cans of the substance are now worth more that three tomatoes. Some shops are even restricting the number of cucumbers you can purchase at one time. This means that Mrs Miggins will have to visit several suppliers of such things in order to make my beauty masks. In other news, Boris is now staring in a re-make of the film Chicken Run where we will all chortle at his efforts to find a more receptive seat conducive to his gargantuan fibs. It’s life Jim, but not as we know it. Todays job is repairing the Velcro fasteners to one of Mrs Miggins’ jackets - I have to use a needle threader these days, should have gone to Specsavers. Art bit, on with some detailing. Have a smashing day if you can, wrap up warm, winter is/isn’t/could be/ maybe coming. Time for koffy.

I have one of those in my garden @dunelm
And it lights up at night. It's in a plant pot, from the days when I used to make scenes and landscapes in plant pots...

Have fun with that Velcro....

Midnight slept on me nearly all night.
But he did sit by the window from time to time watching the nighttime goings on outside.

I go into my kitchen when I wake up to make a cuppa.

A total disaster zone.

When I gathered the evidence I concluded it was two ginger cats fighting. They had really gone for each other, and in the process had knocked over a bucket of water, and blended that in with dry cat biscuits (now a soggy mess) and wet cat food...

One fur was Merlin's peachy coloured ginger fur.
The other fur was Marmalade's brightly coloured orange banding.
Enough to stuff a miniature toy cat....

I have seen neither cat this morning ...yet...

Nighttime outside wildlife cameras...
Cat Merlin's long night...

Cat Jade is on the swing first.
Then cat Merlin in the middle of the swing.
And then the fox and badger...
And Merlin leaves the swing just before dawn, because he goes in my kitchen through the cat flap to get some wet cat food after his hard night's work guarding the swing...

Have your best kind of day.

Mine will be another hot cuppa tea to start with...

Liking your 'lemons-lemonade " outlook on life.... ;)

All the best to you both .

Thanks for sharing the creative. No wonder those cats look sheepish today. Also, many happy returns Mrs @alf_Josiah Have a song - hope it's not too woke. She sounds perfect for you. Patience of several saints with a sharp tongue when needed (often is my guess)

Must have got my bolus dose wrong this morning. I had a slice of buttered wholemeal toast for breakfast - around 55 g carbs so should have needed a full 60 units of insulin. Obviously not. BG kept slipping downwards while my cleaner was doing the floors and I was perched out of the way. I had about a third of a jelly baby - didn't manage to cut it precisely at a quarter. That should, on past performance, have shoved BG up to at least 5. But it didn't. It kept on dropping . Now I am dealing with a hypo. Another slice of the bread, spread with cream cheese and then a handful of cheese and onion crisps which Neil had just brought in with the shopping (for Em, who wants to try a recipe she heard of using these crisps). Still pretty shaky. Trying not to fall asleep. Bad idea right now!

While I know bread can vary & it's easy to say a slice when it's maybe two ....

But that seems a lot of carbs for one slice & butter..?

Could it possibly be you might occassionally over estimate the carbs & insulin needed.?

100g = 40 carbs
1 slice = 16 carbs

Not for a minute saying you are wrong, just adding to the possible reasons & solutions for the hardship of maintaining the seemingly impossible balance of carbs v BG v insulin.

Well, I certainly got something wrong. Normally - as if anything that I do is ever normal - the slice from a home-made wholemeal loaf would require that amount of insulin. Being fresh, it is difficult to cut a thin slice and, if anything, I under-estimated the amount of carbs. In fact, something similar happened a few weeks ago, but the drop wasn't so fast and I could take action in good time. The day after that I had a slice from that same loaf, as a test, with a reduced dose of insulin and my BG sky-rocketed. I made another loaf last week and tried again. Same result. Today - different result. There is some other factor at work here. Decision - don't make or eat any more bread. Reinforces the decision to get back into really low-carb mode.

BG now up to 6.5 but, unusually, I am still very shaky. Just going to sit and watch mind-numbing TV with a cup of tea. Or I would, but I seem to have put the TV remote somewhere out of the way when my cleaner arrived this morning and I can't see where I put it.

Ahh, the dreaded bread syndrome.
Here’s what we do and have for some time, we freeze the bread then when we need ( kneed ) it defrost and use as required, I have my bread toasted, Mrs J is ambidextrous and eats bread either toasted or as normal sliced bread. The freezing process we think alters how the carbs are digested lowering the carb loading. We have no scientific proof, but it certainly works for me. I do limit myself to a maximum of two slices a day on the days I eat bread.
Experiment and testing to find out what works for you.
Good luck.
