What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Due to solidarity with those who won't be shut up this post will have no commentary, punditry or interviews. If you shared your art thank you and if you dog whistle the great replacement theory at full volume hang your head in shame. If you listen to Motown you are an absolute ledge - crombie (with pocket hanky), brogues, tonics and red socks de rigueur.

I see Israel is having problems with an ultra right wing government.
But good men are not keeping silent.

It is sad when truth tellers are silenced and those who distort facts by power hold sway.

Fbg this morning was 7.3 but I refuse to remain in the doldrums any longer depression is not my thing so am shaking it off and am no longer going to sit around moping.

Isn't it amazing that yesterday morning workmen turned up in the snow to repair/replace our garden fence yet Sainsburys refused to deliver our order that had been paid for.

And that when down right lies go unchallenged you can get the sack for telling the truth.

Afternoon all from a cold but snow free London

BG after an hour or two moving around 6.9..mmhh.

Back at work part time

Might just have to sit down & have an honest talk with myself and the bosses.

Back doing only 3 days a week, by arrangement.

Plan was to be a few weeks in getting up to speed, and getting my stamina back, then back to full time

The getting up to speed going well

The stamina ..less so.

I was asked to do two days work, back to back last week, happy to help out, so said yes

End of that 2nd days work, I had rehab at the gym

Felt very ok, if a little tired after.
However next day i felt hammered

Was the gym after work, too much ?

I have been doing that weekly since going back .

I am beginning to think it's the two days together, and that the idea of my stamina returning quickly was vastly off target.

Otherwise, all good .

Colds impacted leg & hand now I'm actually out & about in it over a longer time then previous.

it's annoying but bearable

Day off today, time to recuperate some more.

A nice hot cuppa & maybe a little fried breakfast. Yum

Take care all.

Try to stay warm.

While life has a way of making things hard.

Even with the best of help,
It's only us who can truly begin digging ourselves out of any holes life puts us in.

Respect for the attitude
Not easy but bravo for deciding enoughs enough .

Best wishes climbing above it all.

Presume the delivery more about repeated stops on icy roads, then actually arriving at one location ..

But yeah, annoying .

A good question.

Actor Reece Dinsdale tweeted: "He [Lineker] can comment on human rights in Qatar whilst presenting the BBC’s coverage of the World Cup but he can’t comment on the state of his OWN country’s government for himself. How does that balance up, then?"

See the PFA are backing any player refusing BBC requests for interviews. Some clubs too .

How fitting, if it's an Own Goal that ends the BBC being this governments spokesperson & cheer leader

Here's to an independent national British broadcasting company, that holds the powers in charge to account, on a nations behalf.

(With apologies to Genn for my first post rudeness )

Thanks @jjraak

Re read this post a few times.

Maybe the gym after work was too much, or and I don't know your workout there, you needed to take the gym at a gentler/slower pace (especially with it being after work). By all means do the gym after work but bear in mind you are still building up your stamina for that too. And you may need to do these things at a slower pace than you realise. And that could be frustrating for you.

You are training your neural pathways again, or retraining them rather, to get back to what you had before. And the way I see this, is that possibly you may need to go slower to give yourself time to reinforce those pathways.

You are doing brilliantly x

Thanks @jjraak

And thank you @gennepher .

Yes, I do agree.

I think that's where being honest with myself , comes in .

You are so right.
Less is more, in some ways.

Seems I'm just an impatient patient.

Thanks for the kind words :)

Your choice of words "Less is more, in some ways" is exactly what I was thinking of.

No, you are not an impatient patient, you are just like many of us would feel in your situation...

Take care.

Good morning everyone and welcome to a dull and still chilly start here in the dark and dangerous north. Our garage has now been split and the walls insulated. Ceiling now needs working on and some of the electrics moved and then it can all be boarded out, painted and a floor laid. Mrs Miggins is off on a reconnaissance walk with her brother this morning to check out this years walk for our family weekend which will take place a bit later in the calendar than usual this time. Friends coming round later to pick up an old half barrel table that we no longer have space for. Casserole to make later with some rusk free Yorkshire sausages purchased at the Farmers Market yesterday. Scotch egg with salad, pickles and kimchi for lunch - flavours of the universe! Art bit - finishing off the detailing, some colour to add later today. Have a smashing day if you can, hugs for those who hurt or feel alone. I shall slurp koffy and meditate on my good fortunes until Mrs Miggins gets up in about 20 minutes..

7.2 this morning. Course was brilliant yesterday. The teacher had a real depth of knowledge and was able to convey it in a way that I completely understood.

Really weird that the hours of total concentration made me so hungry and before bed I just had to have some salted peanuts. So was expecting a fbs in the 8s so was pleased that it was in the low 7s.

MrSlim has spent several weeks working on the attic or loft. First insulating, then plasterboarding and decorating. The beams have been treated for woodworm, hardened repaired, stained and polished.carpet is down and furniture carried up the steep and narrow paddle stairs. It's now to be known as his Den. I suspect he will still be spending a lot of time up there and is hoping the two flights of stairs are sufficiently daunting to prevent frivolous interruptions.
My greenhouse was delivered yesterday. But not all of it. MrSlim saw the van arrive but failed in the race from attic to gate and the driver sped off before he got there. No doubt thinking part 1 of 2 and part 1 of 1 were the 2 parts for delivery. Am assuming there will be another delivery soon, but the carbon footprint will definitely not be neutral. I completely fail to see how a product made in China for a British company and delivered via Germany can possibly be carbon neutral.
Really needed that greenhouse before I leave so very disappointed that it's probably not happening now. Worse still this means I will have little input into positioning. Remember the fruit trees? I thought we had agreed they were to go on the boundary, but somehow they ended up in a different place making more obstacles for the mower. Exactly what I didn't want.
Kiki has recovered well from her sterilisation, but being the cat she is managed to pull off the dressing and then set to work on the stitches. This meant that there was some inflammation and the stitches were very tight and difficult to remove. The vet had to call for an assistant to help. I had warned them that she is " une caractère" and will bite so they were very careful to hold her firmly, but on this occasion she was good and made no protest.
Have been planning a trip to UK next week and have just realised it's in two days and my return ticket needs altering.
There isn't enough cat food to last until I get back either... need to go shopping soon then. Perhaps packing is more urgent than finishing off digging the new vegetable bed behind the potting shed. Intentionally in a more shady spot.
Yesterday I made grain free granola to take with me and I have decided to take a loaf of my usual bread. (28g carbs per 100g) Don't think I could survive a week on warburtons seeded. I find it really sweet and unpleasantly doughy and of course it's high carb. Mum will no doubt have stocked up on cheesecake, tiramisu and cakes. She has decided that at 92 she is going to enjoy her food. As she is T2 I worry about her choices, but she eats no rice or pasta and very few potatoes. Just lots of fruit, some sugary desserts and sandwiches with very thin slices of bread every day for lunch. It seems to work for her. At least her HbA1c is ok, even if she does battle with her weight.
Right! Packing it is.

A hug was for everything you have to do @SlimLizzy and for the half a greenhouse.

Kiki was good for the vets sorting out the stitches...

Glad your mum is well.

Enjoy your visit to the UK.

Good Luck x

Interesting lighthouse @dunelm

The food sounds tasty...

#standwithgary. Here are the headlines. Thanks for the lighthouse @dunelm. @Krystyna23040 perhaps "they" - (the blob :)) were right and the brain needs some carbs? Some poems for this week. Today's is wonderful , written by a man who lived in Nazi occupied and Communist Poland.and could still see From where we come there is no division into Yes and No. - hammer, nail and head. @jjraak we all need to be aware that even God only bids one to deal with what is assigned to my brush - not the social media perfect do it all 24/7 nonsense. (Guite's essay in the book is awesome) Lamb today - it is Sunday in Lent and toddler grandson is here :woot: - easiest Only Connect ever. Go well everyone.
