What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

hug for the detour - is the whole of the Exotic East road network finally being repaired? .
@ianpspurs the major part of the chaos is a repair of about half a mile of pavement that actually looks as though there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. If only they would have spent the money on repairing potholes in our surrounding villages.
One lane is closed and the diversions are choc a block.

Good morning everyone on what looks to be a bright and sunny start here in the dark and dangerous north. Spent most of yesterday morning wandering around shops and stores but little on my list was available. Pleasant lunch with Mrs Miggins and her twin (not identical so no name badges required - unlike the ninky nonks, Chaos and Mayhem). Sister in law is having to take iron tablets so suggested more spinach, liver, dried apricots and perhaps seaweed although I have seen research to suggest that only Nori and Sea Lettuce have sufficient quantities of iron and vitamin C makes for better absorption. Retinal eye torture this afternoon, what a treat! Art bit, detail added, some colour to be added today. Have a smashing day if you can. Take some time just for yourself. I shall make koffy and then do some exercises.

More Giants Causeway?

Have fun at the eye retinal torture this afternoon...

It is my turn tomorrow...

Up at 1.30 am, BG then was 5.4. Much better than yesterday. Up to 7.5 by 7 am, but not too worrying. Been busy doing chores since 4 am - mostly clearing up after the effort of making food for the "event". Wasted effort though because I received an e-mail this morning asking if Alistair had delivered it, because it was nowhere to be found. Alistair delivered it all at 5.15 pm - that's 15 minutes after it was supposed to have started, but nobody was there, so he unloaded it all onto a table and left - he couldn't hang around, Em was in a school play and had to be there on time. So, somewhere, there are 4 foil containers of food. I hope they are found before the cauliflower dish goes off.
Absolutely not fair after all that effort you put in x

Aw, poor ol midnight's ear in the early shots.

Hope whoever did that gets the life they deserved.

And blimey, that badger was on a mission ..:wideyed:

Cool pic .

& Bravo getting the better of YouTube .

Have a good un, Genn.
Yup, poor old Midnight's ear. It does aggravate him, and I massage it nightly, very very gently...

I am not sure why it is Midnight's fur fabric blanket that he wanted, or was that just a coincidence?

I am sitting on the warm side of a sunny window at the mo...

You have a good day!

It is a wet morning in Little America so no party here today, no siree. 5.1 via Swipey seems sub-optimal after 19.7 gms carb. BG not exactly going for a frolic on the Newmarket Gallops but doesn't match the hype IMHO - YMMV. @lindisfel as @jjraak says I'm with your daughter on the phoning up front but hugs for you and Marjorie. You are right that Austerity Mk1 ruined the UK so Mkii and the madness of the B word :arghh: :bigtears: @gennepher thanks for the lighthouse - storm(z)y there. @dunelm thanks for sharing the art and also this insight: That sky really enhances the wetness in the foreground. Totally lost on me without that point. Best wishes for #scangate - no need for Pannick. @Annb fbg seems to be coming down so good news that your efforts are working. Sorry to hear the love shown in the cooking and transportation may have been for nought. @Krystyna23040 hug for the detour - is the whole of the Exotic East road network finally being repaired? . @alf_Josiah perhaps today will see a -ve for Mrs A J or yourself - ideally both. Have some poetry for the down time.
Thanks Ian...

I see the alarmist are predicting a big ejection from the Sun, which unlike the Sea, has a big hole in it.

In which case I should be retiring to my NHS funded Faraday Cage to keep my new pacemaker keep running. :)
Oh good, I like a good dollop of sunspot activity. Hope it causes merry hell with some aspects of social media - can it be directed? Should we go back to landlines and pre-Strowger telephone exchanges, “what number please”. Will smart meters become stupid meters?

Absolutely not fair after all that effort you put in x
Ah well. That's life. I enjoy doing the cooking/baking - it's my way of expressing myself - as your art is yours, but I'm not so talented as you. Not my loss, as long as someone finds it and uses it, it won't be wasted.

Do not underestimate your artistic and expressive talents when cooking and baking as well as the benefits and joy it brings to you and those you feed.

You are talented to cook and bake.
I can't cook or bake. Well I can, but it is not my joy in life.
When J was alive he preferred to do the cooking. If I cooked, it was... it needs a little sugar, it needs some salt....

Further investigation leads to the conclusion that somebody purloined the boxes of food (3 boxes of cupcakes and one of cauliflower rice). The organiser was there - upstairs - but a man who appeared to be locking the outer door when Alistair arrived told him nobody was there. Since there were people there already and more still expected, nobody should have been locking the door anyway. Alistair left and that was the last that was seen of the food. No idea what anyone else would want with all those cakes, or the cauliflower but, whoever did take them, I wish them joy of them (and possibly indigestion might be a just reward). :inpain::):inpain::):inpain:

Good morning everyone on a very blustery start to International Bin Day here in the dark and dangerous north. Today the garden bin can make an appearance for the first time this year and Mrs Miggins has nicked next doors bin as well as she has been enthusiastically messing about in the garden and yesterday, mowed the lawns. I did helpfully offer to lay string lines but she declined the offer. No idea what she said as it was in a foreign language - probably Doric. Art bit - another one bites the dust Freddy. Have the best Thursday that you can, they only come round once a week. Time for some lofty.

In the last couple of days, I've been wondering how the jumble of lines was going to turn out, but there you are - your added colour makes sense of it all and it turns into a fine set of basalt steps for Irish giants. Brilliant.

Edit: or are they Fingal's walls?

On the wildlife camera - Badger & Fox & Cats

A busy night.

All the regular strays had their food early evening, and around dawn. I didn't include every video clip of them because this video would have been very long!

The fox, Foxy Loxy, is often first on the scene when the cats are still feeding. Foxy Loxy jumped on the swing a few times to eat the cat biscuits I put there solely for the stray cats. I do put some on the ground for the foxes and badgers, but Foxy Loxy wants/must have those cat biscuits on the swing.

The same for the badger, KissyKissy (named because he often tries nose to nose contact with the cats, earning him a smack on the face). KissyKissy is absolutely determined to get those cat biscuits from the swing. He tries again and again and again in this video. He knocks over the bucket of drinking water in the process of doing his best efforts in trying to get on the swing. He falls down time after time. He deserves top marks for his determination. At one point, his mate comes along to find out what her hubby is doing. She does not have the same fascination as KissyKissy has with my garden, and cannot see what the attraction is. It seems to me she is looking for a bit of nookie, or at least some attention from her mate, But he doesn't take the hint, and continues hell-bent on getting those cat biscuits on the swing, and she leaves.

Creative is #5 Lighthouse digital painting in Procreate. I tried out a new brushstroke tool - Gesinki Ink, which I used mostly for the waves.
And for the fine scatter of stars, I made a duplicate copy of the Driven Snow brushstroke tool, and altered the different settings within it to create this fine scatter of stars you can see when there is very little light pollution.

Time for a cuppa, and a nap to rest my eyes. I palm my eyes, but first I warm them on my small electric heating pad (because my hands are often cold) and I lie down and palm my eyes. Some info here if you are interested.

The Benefits of Palming — Bristol Yoga Centre

"The warmth of your hands relaxes the six muscles around each eye and attracts more energy and blood flow. The darkness relaxes the ciliary muscles, retina and optic nerves.’

Nathan recommends doing palming from 3 to 10 times a day for 30 seconds to over 30 minutes."

I should do it more than I do!

Have your best day.

Informative but also winner. I'd never heard of palming, but must give it a go although my hands are pretty well always icy cold. The winner is for the lighthouse. Being a sailor, Tom was always interested in lighthouses and some were fascinating shapes. Some are very plain (the one in Stornoway is squat and plain white but there are plenty of others shaped more exotically. After dark, we can see the light from Cape Wrath away in the distance, on the other side of the Minch. Can't help watching and counting as the light swings around.

Edit: the starlings are nesting again - trip after trip to the eaves of the house with bits of grass in their beaks. They are often quite indignant if they notice us standing inside the window looking at them and wait impatiently, perched on the handrail on the ramp outside, for us to move away, so they can fly up to the nest hole with their offering. Do they think we don't know they are living there, I wonder. When I say perched, I mean they fidget around, almost jumping with their impatience as they wait for us to go away.

One of the herons from Stornoway visited the field across the road from us yesterday. That's a fairly rare event and sent Neil running for his camera.

Got to bed at 11.30 last night - BG 5.1. Woke up at 12.10 am with Libre shrieking its warning. BG 3.1. Had the head of a jelly baby to push BG up again. Quick trip to the loo. Went back to sleep. Woke again at 2.30 am and got up. BG 7.9. And a bad taste in my mouth - that's the sugar in the jelly baby. BG now is 6.5 and I am experimenting to see how low I can go with the insulin so have had a tin of sardines in olive oil without insulin to see what happens - shouldn't be any carbs in the sardines so maybe can get away without insulin for that. Life is just one, long experiment. Makes it interesting.

Neil won't be going shopping today - still feeling under the weather. Just as well I have enough in, if I'm careful, to last out until Monday.em's had all the crumpets so she'll have to make do with pancakes when she comes in from school.
