What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Yes, I agree that it is not such a nice day today. It is actually really horrible here - the rain is torrential.

You are right that one has to travel in one's mind eye to places full of good memories. The walk to the pine belt at Holkham in the sunshine is such a good memory.
 
Good morning everyone from a dull and lackluster start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. Curry last night. No rice and a smart palindromic 5.5 on the monitor of surprises. Gardening. Some of that happened yesterday afternoon. True, I saw it as it happened and there is some more to be observed today. Hope it doesn’t rain or Mrs Miggins is going to get wet. Art bit - the age of the squiggly lines. Hope you have a very good Easter Monday. I shall proceed with some koffy and then I will be in a fit state to take a deep breath and a gander at any list of chores that may subsequently be ignored.

A queue of black and black&white cats, waiting for breakfast, greeted me as I opened my eyes this morning and looked outside my full length glass bedroom door into the garden.

Fed said cats, filled the bird feeders, refilled the dry cat biscuits on the swing. Male blackbird was hopping from foot to foot because no spilled cat biscuits on the ground this morning (usually there are loads from the badger). Finally he jumps on the swing, stares at cat Midnight who is less than a couple of hand widths away from him in the middle of the swing (even though I know Midnight will just watch, I hold my breath...Mr Blackbird has done this many times). Midnight stares back, then rests his head on his paws and goes back to sleep. Mr Blackbird grabs a cat biscuit and flies off. Mr Robin is hovering nearby, and flies in and grabs a cat biscuit. I can breathe again. I am half waiting for the day I will find a bird sitting happily on Midnight's head...
I put cat biscuits and peanuts up on the bird table this morning!!! But no, the birds want them from the same stash as the cats feed from.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and those who will take issue with me, me’s and myself today.

A 5. 8 on that meter of profanities this morning.

In my simple world if I wake in the morning then it’s a good morning, the weather might leave a lot to be desired as it is at the moment here in Tilehurst Towers, the list of chores and tasks might be unwelcome like it is today, but I woke up from my slumber and have firstly tea and then safety koffy to drink. Relish in the silence apart from the ticking of a clock. Such simple pleasures.

Yesterday we had a Sunday roast at our eldest son’s spending time with the family and observing the growing up of the grandchildren then thankfully returning home to the sanctuary of a late afternoon nap, another of life’s gifts to those of an unmentionable age. To those fixated with blood sugar readings, my evening blood sugar were well into double figures eating large roasts at late lunchtime is not good, but one or all 6 of me, me’s and myself must live a life.

Extract as must enjoyment today as you possibly can whilst staying safe.

Oh dear, I hear movement from Mrs J’s pit / lair. Time to make her morning tea and possibly my safety koffy.
 
Morning all from a very wet L.A. @lindisfel wonderful description of how you remember Holkham and the obvious joy that brings. Interesting point about the kind of imagination which allows one to be transported to another time and place. Mine was obviously left out, presumably/hopefully for another part. I'm not sure what that is but it is what it is. @alf_Josiah enjoy your day with those not at all simple pleasures. Ticking clocks - wow. I get it, I really do and intellectually agree. Spiritually it never quite meets my needs, especially in this location. Family meal today will be wonderful and simply being part of Team P is my mission for others and for my maker. When I reflect later my rational mind will be content but my emotions and spirit will go elsewhere. Sin always finds a way in hence Good Friday. @dunelm and @gennepher thanks for sharing the gift of creating what you imagine which means if I don't have those gifts I can enjoy yours, @Krystyna23040 sterling work on steps and carbs now chillax today. Have a great day, don't overthink it but don't pretend either - never works.

You could get quite burnt if the sun was out in summer, some of the beaches in the Hebrides are crushed white coral from when that part of the world was down nearer to the Equator and it has moved due to plate tectonics over tens of millions of years.

I should imagine the beaches act somewhat like a reflector. They are very bright at Balranald on North Uist

Sandy beaches on the West side of Lewis (eg Reef) are brilliant white. Impossible to see anything in the sun because of the glare. Last time we were there, we had to give up on our picnic on the beach and find a spot on the machair so we could see what we were eating.

A busy night for cats, fox, & badger

Midnight appears first. And takes his place on the swing. Then along comes the fox and a ginger cat together. The following clip from the camera onother side shows this scene a little better, and it shows Merlin sniffing the fox's tail which he objects to.

Amy appears and hisses at Midnight.

And then Merlin returns for some cat biscuits on the swing.

The fox comes back and is mooching around, but he is very nervous and is constantly looking around.

Jade and Merlin appear separately for some cat biscuits on the swing... Merlin looks a little anxious.

Finally the badger appeared at the end of the video, but there was more footage of the badger but my editing app crashed and made a complete mess of my editing and I lost some good badger footage. I could have started from scratch again, but I had already invested a lot of time in it...so this is what you get!

Good morning everyone on quite a bright and sunny start here in the dark and dangerous north. Packing day - we are off to Manchester this evening and then an early flight tomorrow to Bordeaux. I say early but it’s really the time it takes to get through security - hours of fun and that’s just the priority boarding bit. It’s then a bus and a train, like having a bit part in the film Trains, Planes and Automobiles. All the modes of transport but not necessarily in the right order. Be back next Wednesday as long as the French strikes don’t cause changes. Art bit, colour day! Have the best day that you can, don’t forget to use your favourite pronouns. Must be time for lofty.

Morning all from a bright start here. Yesterday's family gathering went splendidly and the turkey was a triumph darling, a triumph. For taste and moistness high welfare, game hung turkeys are better and less fuss to cook than all but top end red meat for me. @lindisfel hope you acquire a microwave and the travel goes smoothly. @gennepher enjoy the early fine weather and thanks for the mysterious lighthouse. @dunelm splendid art again thank you. I hope the travel goes well and you enjoy Bordeaux - from memory a breathtaking entry by major road. Four grandchildren here today all wearing Easter Bunny ears- visitors called off for fear of giving MIL their bugs. She will be disappointed but they will all be coming to Wales in late May. . Indian railway curry - turkey not chicken and no train - on the menu here today or/and tomorrow.
