I don't know what sort of example they set for those young marine commandos they showed in training last week. One had previously lost three limbs in Afghanistan but he was still full of guts.

Not only no oil - don't know why, it comes in on a tanker so it's not affected by shortage of ferry space. But everything else is going to be short as well, now that the Ullapool-Stornoway ferry has broken down. No idea how long it will be before it's fixed. They have only managed to get a specialist engineer on board this evening to even see what's wrong.

They probably have a reserve supply for critical infrastructure.

When I bought this bungalow, I had a choice between this one which was all mains connected, or a bungalow in the mountains right next to heathland and sheep, an amazing view over the Irish Sea, but it had an oil tank and a old septic tank. Boy, am I glad now I did not go for that one, although it was in an absolutely amazing location. Also there are periods where, I have since found out, that it got snowed in for days and days at a time with no access to the outside world.....

Even this bungalow can be inaccessible because of the steep hill for a few days at a time in extremely bad snowy icy weather...

I hope you are able to get some oil very soon @Annb

Cats, Foxes, and a Badger

Ginger cat Merlin, watches that Fox...

He doesn't appear to mind being in such close proximity to the Fox, but the Fox would be startled if he saw, he was only checking the swing for cats before he ate...

Creative is Lighthouse #25 digitally painted in Procreate. This is the first version, there were versions number two and three. Version two had rain across it, but it looks like stair rods (spellcheck changed this to 'steroids'???), The third version had a rainbow but, it was like a small child's version of a rainbow. So I gave up and went back to version one.

The stray/feeding cat population appears to have increased. I watched them feeding on the swing yesterday, one after the other. It was like constant possession of ginger cats. Marmalade is one enormous cat, compared to the others, he is the size of a small fox. There is a smaller version of Marmalade. Another one looks like Merlin, but he is far more substantial than Merlin. Where on earth did all these ginger cats come from?

Time to have a quick nap and a cuppa and then get on with my day...

You all have a good day today. Weatherwise, it is raining and windy but I'm still going to have a good day.

It expensive living in the country, I could easily spend a 100k on this property getting it up to date.We have been here since 1966 and extended it but now it's perhaps too much for us.
We would hate to move into a house on an estate with a postage stamp plot with tiny bedrooms.
Of the next four houses down the road three are very well heeled business people the others are our friends who are locals from farming stock.

Limitations that come with age can overtake one here but I don't really want to live anywhere else.

There are some very poor people in Cumbria as well hence need to support the food bank.

Shopping this am, Marjorie needs my help

I have been back to that bungalow I nearly got on the mountainside several times, because I half regretted , not moving there, but once reality set in, I realised I did not have the finances to keep it going, or replace the septic tank to current standards and all that kind of stuff.

Hence my eventual overgrown tall garden here. I can sit out in it, front or back and not see the adjoining bungalows. Turn my cochlear hearing processor off from cars and motorcycles revving - people preparing their old bangers for the stock car racing near here, next door machinery going and much more, and on a blue-skied sunny day I can imagine myself on holiday in a peaceful location anywhere in the U.K.

I can see that you wouldn't want to live anywhere. Somehow you'll manage to carry on living where you are.
 
Oh well, my plans have been scuppered for the day.

My friend has cancelled. She does not feel well.

So it looks like I'll be looking for another garden centre to visit in the next couple of days. Not today because I've just cooked myself a breakfast thinking I was just going to meet my friend for a coffee.

So planning to do...

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and wotever, face, bothered etc,etc, etc.

Another 5.5 on that despicable meter….

A goodly collection of posts so far today, politicians, the price of heating fuel and ageing seem to getting a bashing, here in Tilehurst Towers me, me’s and myself also am suffering, but on the positive side of things I woke up, drunk tea and now drinking my safety koffy.
I have also done 30 minutes plinky plonky, taken a covid test prior to my plinky plonky lesson later today, the test was thankfully -ve and reported, eaten my breakfast so I have lots to be thankful about.
Shortly I should wake up Mrs J, but her odds of being woken up by me, me’s and myself are slim I am rather enjoying the silence.

Have a great day all, stay safe, wave two fingers to the wind while kite surfing and a smile cost nothing, but might make a strangers day, unless they are a self serving, expense fiddling politician.
Hand and foot note, I don’t like or trust politicians of any creed.
 
Morning all from a sunny but breezy LA. UK has been downgraded to Starbucks takeaway status (flat white for whatsishame, little guy in the corner) due to bat pooh crazy politicos peddling false dreams of era travel. Uncle Joe doesn't need to inspect hardware here now some people have gotten the message. Going to take a while for the shouty and or stopped clock slice of the electorate to wake up and smell the coffee. @lindisfel I sympathise with you over leaving such an idyllic setting. My father couldn't mange to do that. The love for a home he designed and built on his parents' land was greater than common sense. £100k to upgrade somewhere sounds very optimistic to me from the two goes I've had over the past decade. @gennepher hug for the change of plans with meet up being cancelled. Thanks for the latest lighthouse which is full of mystery. Only one grandchild here this morning then two this afternoon when little sister comes back from a party. No Indian Railway curry yesterday as 4 different meals is crazy - children and MIL wouldn't eat that and JKP's IBS needs ideal conditions for curry. Enjoy your day as much as possible as some of you won't have such good weather.

A rather annoying 8.0 this morning. Only did 8K steps yesterday which probably accounts for the higher reading.

Good news is that I managed to put my socks on this morning. Yesterday it was too painful and Mr K had to help.

Today have been able to do gentle piriformis stretches plus massage with my massage ball which is really helping. Also was able to do a pain free dog walk. I think that the magnesium spray is helping to relax the spasaming muscles.

You can joke Alf but next door to my youngest at York is a fit old guy who is c.87 who goes sail boarding on the sea at Filey in his wet suit.
He was a steel erector by profession but come summer, on goes his roof rack and off he goes with one of his sail boards.

We all know you would advise your clients to slow down, rest and allow the healing process to work. We also know what will actually happen hence the rating, Double hugs for the injury and being made that way. Some people just accept things - very rare on here which is obvious given a moment's thought.:banghead:
