What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen.

Blood sugars this morning were a healthy 6.3 .

The indoor rain cabinet beckons along with koffy perhaps after the indoor rain cabinet, if I’m lucky I might get some plonky plinky in, then it’s busy busy busy in the company of two woke affictionardoes ( spelling is optional). The words to a song are running through my minds “ There may be trouble ahead “

Stay safe all

Well, this may be the character responsible for my bathroom present. The trail cam had caught him around 7am, when I had been wandering in and out the back and through the bungalow to the kitchen door at the front, where I feed the front garden cats.

Wildlife Camera
First time a fox has been caught on the trail camera in daytime! Is he the one that left the pointy hat turd on my bathroom floor???

What he is feeding off I have no idea, unless it is a few bits I threw down for the birds. He must be timing me and hiding in the garden until I have put out the bird food and the stray cat food.

And another one who is timing me, seems to listen out for the kitchen door key turning. I was putting out the cat biscuits outside the kitchen door for the front garden cats (Merlin and Amy usually come in from the front garden for food in the morning because Midnight is zealously guarding the the wet catfood in the back garden), and I came straight back out of the open kitchen door with the wet catfood and collided with Mr Magpie who was just coming in to land. He was flustered but took off again and said some naughty words to Mrs Magpie who sensibly was exercising a bit more caution before landing. Midnight came charging round to see what the commotion was about, and is now guarding the kitchen door wet cat food. No one is guarding the back garden cat food...

Hard work around here...

Creative is a kaleidoscope of roses. These are very pretty roses and make a delicate picture.

Cuppa now.
And one of those naps I often have this time of day.
I have a pile of stuff to do...
The alarm call went out among the sparrows. And all hid in the bushes apart from one 'baby' sparrow, who started to fly to the bushes, then stopped mid air and thought 'hey, I have all that bird food in the feeders to myself', and she turned back to the feeders and stuffed herself. Luckily, for her, it must have been a false alarm.

Bye now, another over hot day...

Have your best day.

Morning all from L.A. on the day some people celebrate the Nativity of John the Baptist. It is also the eve of a very Scorchio Sunday. @jjraak Mr K is irreplaceable: his PC not so much. @Krystyna23040 hug for a busy day and I hope there is air con in the Norwich venue. @dunelm superb final reveal of that art. Thank you so much for sharing. @gennepher busy, busy in the all you should eat wildlife cafeteria. With financial pressure all around I wonder if word may spread and underfed domestic critters begin to avail themselves of your largesse?. Thank you for sharing the wonderful rose kaleidoscope. The top left element looks (to me) like something from a masquerade.ball. Oh how I miss those :D Time to tidy the Yurt and head off. Foo fighters were goodish, Arctic Monkeys quickly gave my bum a headache. Not sure Guns N' Roses are quite my thing either but may surprise me. Enjoy your day

Top left corner...yes it does a bit...

7.40am FBG 6.1 reasonable after a meal out last night.
MrSlim is continuing with the rebuilding of the potting shed. Mixing concrete and carting heavy blocks about in this heat.
Meanwhile I am still attempting to get all the tomatoes settled into place. Only about fifty or so to sort out now. Am thinking I will end up with a tomato forest.
Don't read if squeamish.
Kiki has got herself infested with fleas. I comb as much as she will allow every night, while she has her bedtime milk and use a flea repellent. Usually one, two, often zero fleas. Kiki obviously notices them because she scratches. However last night she was scratching almost constantly from the moment she came inside for the night. Grab and comb. Eek! Ugh! Yuk!
Never seen so many fleas. She got extra milk to keep her occupied while I attempted removal. Then a dose of insecticide. This morning breakfast still in shower room. Quick comb while she ate. Found a few more. Then put her outside. No sleeping on our bed today. Sprayed the shower room where she sleeps as well as her blanket.
Last night the Tabby Tom came calling again. Am wondering if he donated the nasty little ceatures.

What beautiful roses. Take care in that garden, it’s a jungle out there.

Unlike fleas, you can’t have too many tomatoes. All the best with the battle of the pest control.

Nighttime wildlife video
The night of the badgers...the male appears to be scent marking his female.

Creative is a kaleidoscope of a flowering teasel which the bees love. And also the baby sparrows. They eat the little insects on them. And they drink the water held where the leaves join the stem. We are having rain nightly, so all is being watered.

This current group of baby sparrows are playing/flying/chasing each other immediately outside my open bedroom door, less than a metre away from me. Two baby sparrows have just flown straight up to my open doorframe and stopped dead, both hovering as if an invisible barrier, and both peered round my room, and still hovering they looked at me.I looked at them. They looked at each other and appeared to say, "So this is how the human, who fills the bird feeders lives". And they both turned round and flew away. I am still an object in a zoo, even though the door is open...

Too hot for me. My bedroom was 27° C in the night despite me having usual fans etc going. I needed that bedroom door wide open...
When I opened it from the outside this morning (it opens outwards into the garden) this overwhelming blast of a wall of hot air hit me!

Have your best day.
A cuppa and a nap needed now.

I do love the colours of flowering teasels and a good plant for wildlife. Very hot here last night - all the windows open. Might need to dig out a fan.

8.9 at 4 am. 2 cups of tea later (9.15) it is 12.7. Insulin and breakfast shortly.

Loads of choice for breakfast because the expected visitors didn't come yesterday. I had expanded on my main meal of the day so that guests could have some and I would be able to eat with them. Also made some oatcakes and shortbread which I, of course wouldn't be having. Then, nobody came. The person who had decided to bring others in her car, forgot all about it and hadn't even told anyone about the arrangement. Might not be able to get through all the salads before they go off. But I'll make my best effort!

This frequent "visitation" is for a group of us, every so often, to get together to read scriptures and say prayers for whatever we feel needs them most at the time. Can be Christian, Buddhist, Baha'i, Moslem - whatever. Recently, my house has been the venue because I can't get into houses with steps. This might be changing because another of the group is now bed-bound. There are 3 steps down into her entrance which I am going to have to try to manoeuvre. I'm going to give it a try anyway.

Good morning everyone on a still balmy start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. There is a breeze and an added bonus of a moderate storm warning - do storms come in sizes? I would like a child age 5-7 size please rather than the usual XL. National cycling championships hit our town today - 10 laps of 18.8km and over 4000m of climb, including Saltburn Bank - bad enough just coming up it once I think. With the roads closed, we may walk down the route, it passes by the end of our road. Art bit, another starter for 10. Hope you all have a cool day. My koffy mug needs a refil.

All the best with that salad and hope you manage to find some mouths to feed. Will the oatcakes and shortbread keep for a while?

Thank you @dunelm
I hope it doesn't get any higher for overnight tonight, or I will be leaving that door opening outwards in the garden tonight. I only have a very thin slit window in the bedroom which is useless for letting in colder nighttime air. I have fans and stuff going, but it is not enough. At its worst last year it was 33° C for a good few nights, nearly a week in my bedroom, and my kitchen was over 40° C. I had fans going permanently on the fridge and freezer...

I am trying to think how to block the fox and badger out?
A half idea is taping the plastic garden chairs together in such a way to create a barrier tonight...
