What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Got to bed at 1 am last night but had to get up again at 2.30. Pain killers let me sleep again in the big chair for a while, but I woke again at 5 am. Pretty shattered after being out yesterday and not looking forward to having to go out again today to get the bandages on my legs changed.

BG at 2.30 was 12.3. Currently 11.4. Should go down a bit when I have insulin and breakfast.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and those who wave two fingers to the media while going their own way.

Blood sugars this morning were 4.6, not good but better than yesterday’s.

Here in Tilehurst Towers it will be plinky plonky lesson, while I’m at my lesson Mrs J will be enjoying the peace and quiet until I return then marital world war will resume, I acknowledge I will lose, but it’s nice to win the odd skirmish. We’ve been at this war since 1978 or so I think.

Now it’s time for koffy, stay safe all.

Morning all from somewhere closer to the equator today. Something called rain may, allegedly, hove into view on the morrow - how very quaint. I must apologise for allowing the dogs to play with this device first thing yesterday. Ben in particular is quite a combative soul with strong political views, Bill is far more placid and enjoys macrame. Ben did point me to a splendid 2020 Michael Holding and Ebony Rainsford-Brent video and the Guardian editorial covers the topic well (£1k for a cricket bat is fairly elitist) so he is now sleeping peacefully. This is now an earworm, thanks Ben. I believe 'ave it is the phrase. Meanwhile @dunelm has managed to find a skip for hire - quite the find hereabouts - will you be lifting the turf and filling said skip yourself sir, or is that for staff? Thanks for sharing the latest - final? - draft of that wine cellar which could also serve to age one's cheese. A variant on BOGOF - build one get one free. @Annb may I add my hope that #clutchgate isn't too expensive. Man like Ian needs hydrating. Think I'll give tea a try as I've heard good things about it. Go well people. Bazball rides again today so disgusted of Tunbridge Wells may wish to look away now.

Thanks @ianpspurs and it will definitely be staff lifting that turf. Well, Mrs Miggins I expect. Whine and also cheese, what a thought.

Today had to "rescue" Kiki from the leanto roof. Am assuming she went up the nearby Apple tree after the redstarts who harass her, then jumped. It's been a while since the last rescue and she has apparently forgotten the no biting part of the arrangement, or else she felt unsafe on a corrugated iron surface. Either way she cooperated by coming to where I could reach her. So presumably wanted to get down. Carried her away to the copse, hopefully she will be occupied there for a while.
New fledgling alert. This time a collared dove. Apparently uninjured, but has blood on its beak. Sibling rivalry perhaps? It was sitting at the base of the apple tree Kiki climbed a short while ago Not a safe location. It seems to have no sense of self preservation and didn't attempt to get away from me until I had it in my hands. Then it showed it's very limited flying skills. It's parents came to see it at its new location in our gazebo, I think it was supposed to follow them. They have just returned, hope they all feed it as it seems unable to feed itself. Scattered a few sunflower hearts for it and hoping for the best.

I have just seen a picture of Johnnie Irwin with his three young sons who look to be a credit to him and their Mum.

What they have is a very sick Dad, life is not fair and the enemy strikes at random.
D.
So sad. I initially read that some time ago but this is outrageous. As you say, he has young children so despite him probably being towards the comfortable end of the spectrum I make no apology for linking to this charity. Also, Bazball (season 2, episode 2) starts today not tomorrow.

Good morning everyone on an overcast start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. A skip will be arriving this morning. Only a small one but it’s the excitement of it all. Back garden is still undergoing a makeover. Quite a lot of old bricks and rocks dug up and what’s left of the neglected old lawn to be lifted. The ground can then be prepared for some new turf to be laid. Wrong time of year really but it’s doable. Art bit - colour added. Hope your day is good to you and all the best with that clutch @Annb. Koffy is now ready.

Much better with the colour @dunelm
That intense feeling of claustrophobia has gone...

The Scenic is home, but the fix is only temporary and could go again at any time. Problem is around where the gear cable meets the transmission - something has given way. A new (expensive, of course) part has to be ordered and may take weeks to come from France. It is a Renault, after all. But I may get away with another 3 or 4 hundred.

I'm late because I had a medical procedure this morning. It did not go to plan, and has left me with pain and a few other problems. I could have done without this, as my daughter from Australia is coming in a few days.

I have been in bed since I got back home. My friend I contacted was shocked, says it is negligence on the part of the NHS. Wants me to take this further. I have no energy for this. I don't think I am telling daughter exactly what happened, she does know I was going for it. I just hope I am good enough to do what we planned to do together, but I will be toning some stuff down...

Not a happy bunny.

My friend wants me to go to PALS on this, and that is a strong possibility, but not until my daughter from Australia has been and gone, I need all my energy for her.

Going back to sleep.

Catch you tomorrow...

So sorry to hear things went badly with the medical procedure. I hope you rest and recover enough to enjoy the time with your daughter then follow up on the poor treatment. Thank you for sharing the kaleidoscope.

Beggars belief. Can’t get insurance? Sounds dodgy. When my sister was diagnosed and also given six months to live, she did trips all over the place including that place called “abroad”. Six months ended up as two years. We had such a good time together before it got too difficult.

So sorry to read that your medical procedure didn’t go well and I hope that you can still manage to have a wonderful time with your daughter. Lovely green kaleidoscope

95 mg/dL. I've finally found graham crackers diabetes because I can't imagine my life without crackers. Such a person I am. Do you guys have favorite diabetes snacks? Just curious.
95 - so about 5.3 in old money. Had to convert as I have special needs where it comes to mg/dL. I don’t have a favorite diabetes snack but find a bit of cheese useful.

Good morning everyone on what might just be a rain free double dip bin day here in the dark and dangerous north. A car needs collecting this morning so we are off to the City of Ripon to pick it up - about 50 miles. It’s a replacement Smart ForTwo run around for the one we disposed of last week. This will be number 5 I think (previously one ForFour and three ForTwo’s). Great little run arounds although we did tour Europe in a cabriolet version several years ago. What fun. This one is also a soft top and has the word Brabus written on the front so almost a motorbike - but not. You can drift in them mind if you select manual instead of automatic. Think the opening sequence to the TV series The Banana Splits. Mrs Miggins is also preparing her 2L AWD gas guzzling tank for change. It’s all going on, the house staff under stairs are bewildered. Art bit - another starter for 10 - another part of the castle we visited in Wales. Have an excellent day if you can. I need to take some fancy blue and yellow pain relief this morning but first I must savour my koffy.
