What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning all, how you 'doin? A pleasant start here in L.A. weather wise and highs of 27 in store for two days so the standard kit - cargo shorts with a good back pocket and good zips are essential for a gent of a certain age - and absolutely no socks. Pool slides are for the young IMHO. @Annb I gave a winner as I'm so pleased that you feel better today - long may it continue. @Krystyna23040 good news on the lower fbgs lately, all the upgrades and a more leisurely day. Could you send the tech folk round to upgrade a few of us please? @dunelm have a wonderful time with TGIB. Amazing how something as mundane as toast and butter can bring joy. MIL never fails to say that was lovely for hers each morning. Thanks for sharing the art again and well done on retaining all your digits. @alf_Josiah I hope normal for Tilehurst service is resumed ASAP. @gennepher I hope you have enough energy to fully enjoy the precious time with your daughter. Thank you for sharing that wonderful kaleidoscope. My parents grew Hebes so I had an idea what they are. I see crab and beetle like insects but I'm mad as a box of frogs. Cricket and tennis to watch, mild weather, keto bagels and salmon salad day - what's not to give thanks to God for? Enjoy your own simple pleasures as much as lies within your power.
Thank you @ianpspurs

Good morning all and a change in weather in the windy west!
7.4 yesterday 6.8 this morning, so still a bit of a rollercoaster.
Yesterday, was a bit of a bad day.
She, who must be looked after wanted to go to town, this was very early, I had a look on many, many websites, for this little something that I eventually cornered, and ordered. But still wanted a trip out. So shopping trolley, we got the bus. Getting off the bus, and stopping at a retaler of foot things, she couldn't sort her purse, bus pass and had no cash to pay, so to save face and help, I paid. As we proceeded, the question was, have you left your bus pass/purse been left on the bus?
'I don't know!'
So at this other retail emporium, much similar to a pavilion we searched high and low for her things! I always thought that pavilion was Indian, and every changing room in cricket is referred as a pavilion. The Chinese never got cricket! It's amusing that the latest cricket country to play in the world cup qualifiers, is the USA!!!!
Anyway, we had to go back and find her losings! But I got distracted and in a moment, my dearest had disappeared, gone.
Just as I was heading into panic mode, she snuck back up on me, and frightened me something Friday night, fright night! Not there! But where?
We sat on a bench just as the big raindrops started falling, no coats, and I heard curses from alongside me. I insisted on moving at a leisurely pace, then a remembering of a sneaky pocket in the shopping trolley. They were there all along!
I must add that I was doing well, to hold my frustrations!
No I wasn't! I was blowing steam!
I calmed down a little, due to relief in discovery and a smell coming down the pavement.
Not what your dirty minds are going! It was a shop selling roasted pigs! Of course, I have always hungered after a good ham shank, so of couse, the trolley was lumbered with my dinner, and subsequent meals! My mouth is watering now!
A couple more errands and, apologies from both of us, for tolerance under pressure, from misrememberitis! (Great word, just made it up) It was time to venture home for my wife and to honour my appointment with the physiotherapy assessment. It was touch and go whether the bus could get me there on time. If there is something I despise it is being tardy. My anxiety is ruthless if I'm running a tad shoddy timewise! But no bother, the physio, was behind with his appointment times.
Twenty minutes later, I was in agony! After having my Interpretation of some stretching, balancing, getting on and off bed, pointing my toes, my walking gait was quite humorous and stilted. However, it was done for good purpose and a referral for more physicality, investigation and treatment was advised and head nodding with enthusiasm when he inspired my insistence on doing specialised body movements or yoga!
I got the first bus possible, but as soon to every outcome this day, it was late, and the subsequent linking this route to our house, which should arrive a couple of minutes later, had decided to be early! And it had started with the big raindrops again (No coat!) It was already dropping in temperature to nearly really quite cold!
No shelter from wind and rain! A couple of birthdays ago, I would have just walked! So frustrating!
Bus was late, and what should have been a twenty minute journey home, was close to an hour!
My beloved had decided to nap, I made tea, then fell into the couch! I couldn't move until the pain had eased.
I had hunger, anger, and I couldn't find anything from the shops. I didn't want to disturb the dreamer. So I took it upon myself to search high and low, for my food. I nearly had to settle for something else, but as I proceeded into the kitchen, the heat searing my palm gave me a clue to the whereabouts of my feast.
My granddaughter came round after tea and put a smile on my face! Went to bed early!

My beloved is resting this morning and I'm enjoying the sun in my garden. Listening to the frailty of our
batting at Headingly. Daughter is much better and applying for jobs. So that is a big relief!
I should go the local grocer for fresh stuff, but my hamstrings are tight and I'm still not walking well! Done a few exercising, but not too strenuous, or very much at all,

Have a lovely day while the sun is out!
Stay safe!
A hug for all the pain and frustration. but it was a toss-up between that and a winner for coming through it all in good humour.

Ok lemon tea it is.
Outside until MrSlim arrived with coffee
Opened the brassica cage and pulled everything up. Snails and flea beetles are munching away, so it's best to harvest what is available now, otherwise it may well be inedible in a couple of weeks. Cauliflower cheese tonight. Now I have space to plant something else.
My brother is back home now, although somehow the recovery period has extended. Now five to eight weeks. Obviously I was wrong about it being only three.
Glad your brother is home, even if the recovery period will be longer than you thought. Enjoy your harvest - better for you to have it than the pests.

Alan from church has just come and cut all my grass. He is a fit man at 75 and uses his strength to help others. I couldn't walk round the garden at that speed let alone cut the grass.
That is my task tomorrow, lawn has gone into overdrive, about an inch plus per day! Don't want it to go to seed. Flower beds, with the heat and humidity is in bloom, quite pleased with this year's attempt! Especially my Orange (and lots of other beautiful colours ) Lilys.
The ridiculousness of the weather, from about 12 degrees at six pm yesterday, to a Mediterranean gasping 35 in my sun trap of a garden, this afternoon, I was tempted to try a couple of eggs on the paving stones! Couldn't walk in bare feet!I
More rain tomorrow predictive from local channel. It was good to get some relaxation under the sunshade today!
Just chilling now, watching Lancs on the box. After a lovely ham salad, and of course the tomatoes!

Sleep tight peeps and enjoy the weekend!

Took a third lot of painkillers after all, last night at midnight. Straight to bed then and I did get to sleep despite the aching limbs and hips. But I woke again at about 1 am, very sore but managed to turn over and dozed off again in a more comfortable position. That lasted until about 2.30. Got up then and had a cup of tea, but it was, of course, too early to take more painkillers. BG was 13.9 and Libre was telling me to do something about it so I took some insulin and it came back under control.

Just took those pills and had my 2nd cup of tea. No more sleep yet, but I'm hoping.

Good morning everyone from a deliciously warm and quiet start here in the dark and dangerous north. A 5.2 this am and celebrated by getting the washing out on the line by 7am. Successful walk into town and back yesterday. Farmers market today so another walk into town in the sunshine. We can always catch a bus back if needed but hopefully not. Shed getting a new coat of paint this afternoon - just the front, you can’t see the other sides as the shed sits in the corner behind the garage and the boundary fences. Some shade of green I have been informed. Art bit - colour added. Hope your day is kind to you and you find time to smile and perhaps laugh out loud (we shall be doing that whilst pointing at some of the price tags at the market). Koffy is ready.

Love this with the added yellow @dunelm

Fbg 6.8

Creative is Herb Robert, the wild flower, in a kaleidoscope...

Badgers have been wrecking my garden last few days. I've been badger proofing some stuff I care about.

Mr Magpie popped his head through the cat flap yesterday. He is getting too portly.

Three baby sparrows seem to have been dumped in 'gennepher's baby bird daycare' by their parents who haven't been back at all the last few days for these baby sparrows. These baby sparrows are pretty clueless, but they can eat the fatballs, and can hang on to the feeder. One of them can hang upside down like a bat, from underneath the feeder. But they sit together in a row on an exposed branch, even when the bird alarm sounds and everyone scatters. They are very skinny.

Time for a nap...

Have your best day.

6.1 this morning. New computer installed. Windows 11 and new anti virus installed on both computers. Love the new widescreen monitors.

Took the engineer several hours to sort it. Because we have so much stuff on the computers it took ages to do the back ups and updates.

Everything worked perfectly yesterday but today Mailwasher on Mr Ks computer wouldn't log in. I wasted half an hour trying to sort it. Now must dash to Norwich classes.

Good morning all, how you 'doin? Pleasantly summery here in the L.A. dustbowl but some thunderbolt and (maybe even) lightning very, very, frightening rumoured for later. @dunelm thank you for sharing the art. As always the final touches transform the piece majestically. Enjoy the farmers market, prices and all. If the goods are genuinely artisanal or high welfare I expect prices to reflect that knowing the costs and skill involved. If we Brits don't ween ourselves off the spray it mercilessly or pop pills in it then pile it high and sell it cheap mentality we'll continue eating horse meat, dodgy chicken and a cocktail of chemicals in our food. Although I do think a £25+ chicken may be over charging and the rule for labelling grass fed is a sham.. @gennepher shame about those badgers and Monty becoming podgy. Thanks for the stunning creative which had me remembering these . @Annb hug for the pain and early rising. This week has been a tough old gig for you. I hope at some stage you will be able to doze off. My day will be influenced by events dear boy, events at Headingley where England CC may hopefully have never had it so good. In hindsight Supermac looks like a Titan. Do have great days everyone - make your own kind of music Lyrics

I have a 32" monitor on my pc , which was given to me from my son who upgraded!
The reasoning was, so I could do jigsaws, without taking up the whole of the back room with a proper one!
I do the shopping and sorting bills, then I have my pad for my games and of course, doing long posts on this thread!

6.9mmols this morning. (Not bad, stability!)

Hopefully the rain predictions are wrong, and can have a play with the grandkids, even though the legs and feet are heavy this morning, just not do anything silly today! Like stretching, digging, mowing, edging, or lifting, not that I can avoid it much, grass is so high after three days! Test match delayed. So I might get some chores done as my better half has a well deserved lie in. More like a slumberstaycation! (Just made that up!)

Better get on in case, I find that I'm in deep trouble again!

A once clever supervisor of mine, once told me words of wisdom.......

Always in the ****! Depth varies!

So true!

Have a wonderful Saturday, Gammon and eggs for my late afternoon meal. A few mushrooms and tomatoes may accompany them.

Can't stop eating toms!!!

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen, rain stopped my gardener gardening, I must explain he is my eldest grandson who is earning a small amount of pocket money doing some gardening here. It has also curtailed my woodworking grrrr.

Blood sugars this morning were 5.1 .

With this forecasted and also not forecasted weather other tasks have managed to get onto the nearly written task list. One of which is to update the calendars, lots of medical appointments are being made, then cancelled, then remade all by the various hospital departments that all want a little piece of me, me’s, myself and bodily fluids. As one Dr said to me many years ago if I were to die I would save the NHS a fortune. I just laughed. Fortunately he has long retired. I do miss him, we had some great battles.

I haven’t had my 10:30 constant tea yet, the tea is the constant the time the variable, yes time is the variable, time can be shaped to suit. 29” inside leg, whoops not that type of suit. Let’s not move onto dark matter, save that for another day. Question how do you want your dark matter? Hot or cold? Answer in a cup no milk or sugar and luke warm thanks.

Time to go as the television program said.
Stay safe and stay away from my pills.
