What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen and those that played hopscotch in their youth, rode bicycles with no hands and climbed trees, oh and went scrumping.

Blood sugars this morning were 5.7

We are spending precious time with Mrs J’s family, Mrs J is very happy, she has seen some new additions the newest is 10 months old, one couple are celebrating 60 years of marriage this year. The rest of the family fit somewhere in between.

My function at the these meetings is to smile sweetly, speak when spoken to, say the absolute minimum and break wind discreetly.

This afternoon could be quiet or incredibly rowdy I have no idea, all will be revealed in the fullness of time, but first an afternoon nap is required.

Stay safe all
Enjoy family time. Yes, my bike had no hands either. What a coincidence.

The first bicycle, I encountered had a fixed wheel and no brakes.
my first bike was a Raleigh and my first ride, I pressed the wrong brake and ended on my backside, I went over the hand lebars! So someone had a hand in my first accident!

BG has been in the 6's all day today. That's because I've had nothing to eat and little to drink since about 2 pm yesterday. That's definitely an effective way to bring BG down.

I've been confined to my bed and the big kitchen chair much of yesterday and all today. Desperate pain in my feet and ankles has kept me off my feet - wimp that I am I can't bear putting my weight on them. Bad enough just being in the chair or the bed and trying to find a comfortable position. A few times I've absolutely had to get up and get myself to the toilet - that takes me about 10 minutes to gently slide my feet, without bending them and transferring my weight, oh so carefully, across the kitchen floor, then the hall and to the bathroom - about 25 feet in all. Then it's the same journey back.

I was going to ask Neil to bring my wheelchair in from the car so that I could use that around the house, but when he came through he was also feeling awful, so I didn't. He even offered, but I told him no, I would manage. His feeling awful is because the GP has given him the wrong size of BP pills which means his BP plummets to the point where he is collapsing. He has only been taking them every 2nd day but still, on the first day, he feels terrible. Luckily he received a new prescription for a smaller size tablet today. `

Usually, when I go to bed, or fall into the big chair, I have that wonderful, ecstatic moment when the pain is at its worst but I sink into the bed and my muscles and bones realign themselves and I know that in about half a minute, the pain will ease and I'll be comfortable for a while. It's a Hallelujah moment. Really. It's a moment to thank the Lord for the respite. Do others feel that same ecstatic moment?

Edited to correct time of meal yesterday. Drugs playing games with my memory.

If I remember the law at the time Lamont a fixed wheel had no rear brake because by pushing back on the pedals braked the back driving wheel but a front brake was still necessary.

My Carlton which was made by a small team at a workshop near Newark was very light weight and had a double chain wheel and a four block giving me eight gears. I used to ride it up Steep Hill in Lincoln to the Tech College annex in the old Blue Coat School, on the path at the side of the Roman road going south.

A friend and I thought nothing to riding our bikes to the sea and back home again, which was c.100 miles.
I should have kept my bike riding up and I wouldn't now be a knackered old man!:)

Sorry to hear about you horrible day! Hope you feel better tomorrow!
I am usually ready for my pit around this time of the evening. Mainly because I can't sit still with my conditions of restless legs, essential tremor, starts to become more pronounced with tiredness. My energy levels are still high so, only getting to bed can relieve and relax me enough to fall asleep! I sit and roll into bed to prevent jarring my neck which is a nuisance, but once I lay flat with three pillows (not soft!) Under my head, I shake my legs and nestle into the matress, which is as close to feeling young again, the discomfort fades, my body totally relaxes, I think of nothing, Then, other than a trip to the toilet during the night, I find it's morning!
I agree, it is so nice to feel that after a long day!

Last night, for the first time ever, I think, I prayed for an ease to my pain or strength to withstand it. It has never been so disabling before. Guess what. This morning, although the pain is still there, the pain in my ankle has gone so I am much more able to cope with the rest. Not walking well, but I can get across the kitchen floor in about 2 minutes - a vast improvement on yesterday. Was this an answer to my prayer? Who knows, but I'm not for looking a gift horse in the mouth. Just be grateful for what I have been given. That doesn't mean I am going to dance around the house. There was that saying about the gods taking care of those who take care of themselves, after all. No, easy does it.

BG still around 6 but maybe I'll have some food in a while and see what happens.

Rudge. My dad bought it for me. Second hand and in bits - we put it together and I got a paper round. Who was it lending a hand in your first accident? Bit early in life to make enemies  ;)

Good morning everyone from a wonderfully quiet start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.4 this morning after dinner out. Clog dancing, a menagerie of musical instruments, sing arounds and a bodhran workshop yesterday morning in town. Other things that we missed. Grandchildren being picked up today and staying with us for the week. What fun. Buckets and spades will need checking this morning. Lots of dolphins spotted along the cliffs last night. Estimates of 50 or so along the NE coast. Will this push up house prices? Art bit, another start. Hope everyone has a pleasant day. @Annb - I hope you have a better day. Just been told it’s our wedding anniversary, oops! Best make lofty.

Oh I don’t know! - no animals intended in this one but our visual system can throw us lots of curved balls.
It reminds me of the birder on the Scilly Islands who claimed an American Nighthawk in a field which turned out to be a cowpat. I think he silently disappeared back home.

We simultaneously thought someone walking towards us on the Military road to Newcastle was a Roman soldier but he turned out to be a woman in a rain coat and Wellington boots.
I told the Duchess what I thought and she said she had exactly the same thought.
The location near Housteads must have prepped our brains.

Thanks for the good wishes. Haven't tried to move much yet, but so far, so good.

Have a happy day and congratulations on your anniversary. Which one is it?

5.8 this morning a real improvement.

I had a doppler test at the GP's the other day which unfortunately did not turn out to well took the nurse a longish time to find a pulse in my right foot which she could use ended up with a result of 0.9 left foot lower end of normal and 0.4 in right foot about mid point of sod all.

So am expecting a referral to vascular department .

@Annb I know exactly what you mean some times bed is the only place to be in order to get some relief from the pain.

Good morning all from L.A. where Fitch seem to have downgraded their AAA summer rating to a C which I know for some is more tolerable. A collection of pains for forumites today so hugs to: @Annb, @JohnEGreen, @Lamont D and I know from previous posts @gennepher @dunelm @lindisfel and @jjraak are also afflicted. Thoughts and prayers with you all. @dunelm thank you for sharing the art and enjoy the time with those grandchildren: precious moments indeed. Congratulations on the anniversary and nonchalantly pretending you were unaware - as if. @Krystyna23040 have the holidays started now and will you have "that conversation" with your agent, you have been promising for some time, this year? Football and rugby results went England's way yesterday despite "Faz" being somewhat of a serial liability. Aspirational steak was divine daaahling, simply divine - so thanks be to God for the steak and the cause for celebration. Butcher told me Wednesday is 25% off Waygu day :woot: Enjoy your day but perhaps not as much as you ideally could if you support, manage or play for Brentford.

Happy Anniversary@dunelm. :)

Fbg 6.6

My little robin redbreast's new tail feathers are literally shooting out of his backside....he can already fly much better...

Tired today. Changeable weather yesterday....big temperature changes... 25C then 16C then up again...got bit of a chill. I need some more sleep...

Wildlife Nighttime Trail Cameras
Two foxes & a badger & cat Midnight lazily watches them...

Creative - still working on ideas...
So, in meantime here is a pastel I did on an app...on my iPad.
I used an old photo from Cannock Chase to work with...

Time for breakfast and a nap.
Have a good day...
