What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and a welcome to @Grandma Misti to this little area of this useful app.

Blood sugars this morning were straight 6 on the roll of the meter.

Here in Tilehurst Towers today will be known when instructions / orders are issued. I know my place and am put in frequently. Now it is time to get on with life, the universe and everything to quote Douglas Adams.

Maybe. Think I’ll wash the car this morning, that will surely encourage rain - it’s either that or more naked dancing whilst blowing whistles and banging on drums. The car washing is much more acceptable to the neighbours for some strange reason. People tend to get so offended by the least little things nowadays. Art bit, a few more strokes of the ink pen. Hope your day is a delicious one. I really do need to drink some koffy.

Our three from York went to Filey for the day yesterday. They would be playing pitch and put and eating in a local pub where they eat and watch the football. I am not sure whether or not I agree, my grandson has acquired a taste for best bitter like his dad!

I just noticed on Thursday that our fuchsia bushes are full of berries. Yet another indication that our birds are missing. Usually the berries are sparse because the blackbirds strip them off rapidly. Not so this year. I did see one blackbird earlier in the year, but it disappeared and I never saw a partner for it.

Felt a bit sorry for a returning starling this morning, trying to find its way back to the nest which has now been blocked off. It was clearly puzzled that it couldn't find the entrance to its old home.

I want to try to grow buddleia - should be OK here despite the climate. The idea is to encourage butterflies and other insects, but I wonder, with the absence this year of anything wanting to feed from the existing plants, if it is worth the bother. Not a bother for me because I can't do any gardening any more, so it would be down to Neil and I'm not sure he would be too keen on finding a home for yet another shrub.

Good morning all from the warm Exotic East. Garden thermometer went over 45 yesterday - south facing full sun. Promised hotter today then thunder Tuesday. Barbeque went well yesterday. I avoided the Pimms but did engineer rum punch - the wedding present punch bowl set needs an outing from time to time. @dunelm thanks for the latest few strokes and enjoy any cooling rain. @gennepher gorgeous photo - I would probably be ok with Buddliea like that. @Annb I hope the birthday girl enjoys herself and those operations work. @Krystyna23040 are walks off in the heat and humidity today? Mr K will have enjoyed the rugby result - even Borthers smiled. Make the best you can of today and for those in hot parts here's some advice

You do not need to buy a Buddleia bush @Annb
I have never bought one. I have just stuck cut off small branches and pushed into damp ground. And forgot about them. Every one grew. No care needed. Unless you wish to prune it.
I have white, purple, and pink Buddliea.
I can cut small branches off and post them to you.
It is no bother.

Nothing like a quaff or six of best bitter - depending upon prefered taste of course. Just cleaned the car - no sign of rain clouds yet so maybe plan B.

Well it sort of worked. Just me and the bloke next door but one. He is in a mobility scooter and it’s black and really should be blue. A bit of a drizzle but after we made offerings to Jupiter petitioning for rain and ceremonially poured water over a stone it does seem to be clouding over a bit more. I’m wondering if we have a dodgy stone?
 
Was recalling with a friend how in 1956 we went to Norfolk birding and I think stayed in C.T.C approved accommodation and were using our bikes.
I wanted to explore the coast fully and we went to Brancaster and I was not at all good at doing risk assessments. We left our bikes down from the harbour (bikes were safe then you could leave them unlocked) . it was my intention to cross the marsh and go across to Scolt Head the barrier Island in North Norfolk's unique geography.

Anyway the tide was out when we crossed the creek in our wellies. It seemed a rather large deep creek! At 17 I was up for it. No worries we got through the mud and across. There was a big Ternary which we had gone to see, full of Common and some Arctic terns. I can't remember seeing a wardens hut then! The tide eventually started to run and it was a big afternoon tide...there looked to be a lot of water, it filled that creek to the top and we were cut off. It wouldn't be fun crossing that creek in the dark. I had got my friend into a difficult situation.

What saved the day was Chesney the warden who came across in his boat to see who was disturbing his terns. He asked us the question as to when we thought we would get off? He showed us his terns and pointed out the Arctics from the Commons. He told us how his dad had protected them in the war from practice bombing, by running around the ternary waving his hands in the air to stop them bombing the birds.

He kindly took us back to the harbour, it was a relief.

I think there is a wardens hut on Scolt Head now with a cobbled compass nearby done by warden Chesney but you East Anglians have probably been there and seen it.

You sure the stone wasn't decorative - made of RAAC? You do love a bargain.
 
5.7 this morning.

A lot of footie reading to do! ODI on box! DVD sorted and watched, obviously trek stuff. First series of Star Trek, Strange New worlds. Off to a good start!
Weather has been very warm today, but no rain, it was still around thirty degrees just before dusk and a few high clouds to defer the stars from being observed. Garden looking great in the evening twilight! Full of blooms including rises for the third time. Gone cloudy and warnings of thunder and such, but not yet! Still warm!
And I have mentioned the birdlife around here, but I didn't think I would see three robins in pre nesting activity in my bushes! I pointed it out to Mrs L, but she did say that, at this time of year, what did I expect!!!!!

All the rest of her equipment arrived including bath chair and she now has an alarm pendant to wear and wired into the call system, which is very high tech (ish) Awaiting assessment tomorrow afternoon!

Once more, I have done too much yesterday! I slept overnight even in this warm overnight spell for ten hours! I couldn't believe it was nearly 9am, when I woke up! Don't remember the toilet visits.

Have decided to take the rest of the day easy. And leave any chores till in the morning!
Fresh gammon and eggs for evening meal.

Must go, afternoon tea is warrented! It is spitting now!
