What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Never have tried to make Soul Cakes, but I must. I do have a recipe for them, but it isn't low carb. Must see if I can find a low carb version. Found a YouTube recording of the song by Sting. Quite gentille and a pleasant listen, but I suspect the original would have been a little rougher. Also think he may have combined more than one traditional song, but maybe this is the original and the "Christmas is a'coming" version is the copy.
Thanks for that. Are his Soul cakes Tantric? I have a biscuit version possibly using this as a starting point. Allspice could add the spice - they are very bland as per the recipe perhaps with some very finely chopped Medjool dates for a touch of the Orient - other lower league soccer (well, I'm in Little America) teams are available.

Your biscuit version is pretty similar to my one. I like the blueberry biscuit recipe but would have to take out the inulin and use some other source of sweetness. With enough fruit in, perhaps it wouldn't need anything else.

[Chorus]
A soul cake, a soul cake
Please, good missus, a soul cake
An apple, a pear, a plum or a cherry
Any good thing to make us all merry
A soul cake, a soul cake
Please, good missus, a soul cake
One for Peter, two for Paul
And three for Him that made us all
A soul cake, a soul cake
Please, good missus, a soul cake
An apple, a pear, a plum or a cherry
Any good thing to make us all merry

[Verse 1]
God bless the master of this house
And the mistress also
And all the little children
That round your table grow
The cattle in your stable
The dogs at your front door
And all that dwell within your gates
We'll wish you ten times more

[Chorus]

[Verse 2]
Go down into the cellar
And see what you can find
If the barrels are not empty
We'll hope that you'll be kind
We'll hope that you'll be kind
With your apple and your pear
And we'll come no more a-souling
'Til Christmas time next year

[Chorus]

[Verse 3]
The streets are very dirty
Me shoes are very thin
I have a little pocket
To put a penny in
If you haven't got a penny
A half penny will do
If you haven't got a half penny
God bless you

[Chorus]

Creative is an owl painted in Procreate.

My car is the wrong time. An hour out. Yesterday I tried to alter it. Sat in the car ages trying. These things are usually reasonably easy. Not in this car. Tried going through all settings I could find, but it said the clock was automatic and set to the GPS. Then I tried touching the clock on the touchscreen. But nothing happened. So, tried googling. Google tells me that I touch the clock on the touchscreen, and that will give me an option to sort British Summertime. So, tried again. Zilch. Nothing happened.

I cannot even make the clock 10 mins fast. I always have the clock 10 mins fast to make sure I am on time. And I am not allowed to do that now because it is connected to GPS and is automatic....

Time for a cuppa...

Have your best kind of day.

7.1 this morning.

I got a text from the NHS this morning to say that I am being urgently referred to the skin team to assess the lump. I think the nurse I saw was worried it might be cancer as she hadn't seen one quite like it before.

2 days ago - after reading @lindisfel's post re: cysts - I decided to operate on it. I sterilised a needle and the cyst is no more. It definitely was a sebaceous cyst. It has completely healed but I will continue with the antibiotics until the end of the course.

Morning all from an obviously autumnal L.A. @gennepher thank you for sharing the video and owl, hug for the irritation with the "state of the art" timepiece in your car. @Krystyna23040 good news on the demise of the cyst. Was Mr K impressed with how said cyst became an ex-cyst? @lindisfel I hope Marjorie's journeys go smoothly. As for Palm oil avoidance, good luck with that - more pervasive than one knows. I've said before grass fed in the UK means 51% and who knows what goes on the grass, in the soil and into the livestock to avoid disease and "finish" them? These certainly aren't the cattle, sheep, pigs etc God first created. Due diligence only takes one so far. Anyhow, KBO and follow this wise advice

We only ever use olive oil, butter or coconut oil, @lindisfel. Partly for environmental reasons and partly because there are quite a few oils that cause problems for Neil. The butter is for me - Neil can't use animal products because of allergies. This does prove a bit difficult here on the islands - the only margarine type of spreads he can use just aren't stocked here and are becoming increasingly difficult to find online. (He's just arrived back from town and says that much of what I wanted he couldn't get because the Co-op fridges are out of order. He didn't feel up to traipsing around to Tesco to see if they had what I wanted. Luckily, none of it was urgent. I'll use my store cupboard/fridge and hope to replace things later.)

@gennepher, I know how you feel about your car's timepiece. I wouldn't even try. In our old Kangoo I couldn't make the clock work properly so I ended up with an old analogue watch stuck with bluetak to the dashboard. Technology is being a bit of an issue here just now. Our broadband is a bit dodgy at the best of times but we have been very lucky with it in the last few weeks, giving us much better speed but now it has dropped and is providing about 1/10th of the speed we are paying for. Something to do with the exchange. Our telephone is a bit problematic too, making terrible crackling noises, especially when it is windy. I think that is because our connection is an overhead line. Tech and I have never been the best of friends but I'm a bit fed up with it at the moment - it even kicked me out of a Zoom meeting on Saturday and then wouldn't let me back in.

Well done on getting rid of that cyst, @Krystyna23040. Let's hope the antibiotics will see it off completely.

I am glad that worked out...I would have done the same @Krystyna23040

Thanks @ianpspurs
"State-of-the-art the art" just means inconvenience...

I went out this morning to find an analogue watch/timepiece/something. To do exactly the same as you did. I couldn't find anything...

Going to look online now @Annb

My remote to operate my controls for my cochlear hearing processor is an app on my phone. It drives me bananas. It tells me I am not wearing it when I do have it on etc etc etc, and it will not connect the remote to the hearing processor. An hour later I can still be fighting with it. I need to set the sensitivity levels and a couple of other settings each time I wear it to make it tolerable to listen to, because they don't stay at the level I set it to once I take it off at night. I preferred it when it was a separate remote in its own right, and not dependant on the vagaries of a phone which crashes, has hissy fits etc and these make the remote app crash and reset my hearing control levels...

1698758463194.pngAn even bigger hug than the emojis allow. for all the problems you are having with your clock and your cochlear hearing processor. Hope you manage to find an analogue clock/watch.

I have been looking on Amazon @Annb and I found ring watches. Cheap, but some ok designs. Some were 2 for 1.
Then I realised, it would fit on my handbag/shoulderbag strap. I always have a compass clipped on to my handbag strap, so a watch face on the other side of the strap would work, wouldn't it?

I am often wanting to know the time when I'm out, and it ends up me unzipping my bag, taking my phone out, turning the phone on, looking at the phone just to see what the time is, so this would be a much better solution anyway. I have not worn a watch for years.

So, the offer of the 2 for 1 ring watches - one for the car dashboard, one for my shoulder strap...

Brilliant!

I have only recently lost enough girth on my wrists to be able to use one or other of Tom's wrist watches but I don't always remember to put it on because I am so unused to it.

Thank you so much @Annb for the generous hug.

I am better with a clock face that has hands, and these ring watches I mentioned in my previous post have the clock hands!
