What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Sorry missed posting yesterday as was dealing with a family crisis, so dinner was very late, scrambled eggs microwaved and eaten straight from the jug! I’m sure you can all picture this as no photo taken!
Today:
Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a phd bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and a carb killa bar.
Dinner: gammon steak with roasted Mediterranean veggies.

Big hug for family crisis and superb that you still stuck to low carb scrambled egg

My wife recently had vertigo for first time ever, after two days of dizzy spells and walking like a drunk, phoned doctor who recommended the "Epley Maneuver" to be found on You tube (Bob and Brad), amazingly it worked immediately. Returned at a lesser level next morning, so we completed the exercise again and hey presto!! It worked !! Apparently it works for about 85% of people with vertigo, we can certainly recommend it.
Thank you. I am familiar with this manoeuvre, but sadly I seem to be one of the 15% - it actually makes me feel 10 times worse for several days. I have betahistine tablets now which seem to be helping a lot, at least I’m not feeling sick now, just drunk and falling over!

Scrambled eggs in a jug are a very good comfort food in a crisis. I hope things improve.

B: chocolate coconut chia pudding mixed with greek yoghurt
Double dance class
L: 2 slices cheese on livlife toast with ham. Chocolate coconut chia pudding with extra greek yoghurt
D: meat balls with tomato sauce on buttered leeks and cabbage. Chocolate coconut chia pudding with greek yoghurt

20:30 kefir I'd forgotten about hiding in fridge

(I know the chocolate coconut chia pudding is appearing often but I just used 1 can coconut milk and it made lots and I'm not sure how long they will keep. Plus they are quite strong so I'm only having small portions with added yoghurt!)

ETA: Sorry @LivingLightly, I replied to AnnB & only just caught up & seen your post. It's a shame that Berkswell isn't made any more, not heard of it, but would have tried it. Here's to them passing over their product notes & it or something very similar is made.
Evening @jessj. My fault, I was late posting. Afraid I fell behind this week and have only just caught up with the many interesting posts on this busy thread.

Yes, I was dismayed to see that Berkswell's inventors had not sold the operation as a going concern. Their cheese had won awards. Let's hope the milk from their herd is put to good use!

Diabetes, what are you up to?

I had the same amount of low carb bread (different but similar no carb topping) in the afternoon, the same coffee with skimmed milk in the morning, and the same 2 Belgian beers in the afternoon I had in the past two days, with less insulin on a hunch. BG kept hovering between 4.3 and 3.8 from 4-8 PM, at which point I'd had it and I ate one of the miniature stroopwafels someone sent me to treat hypos. :hungry:
I figured it would be too much to slightly nudge it up, especially as my last insulin was over 4 hours ago, so I took a very small dose of insulin to go with it.
Wrong!

I made a quick and very unappetising looking but tasty meal from the last of the thick backon, yesterday's leftover cauliflower and onion, a duck egg, and grated cheese, all in the same pan, no insulin, and still went hypo, after shortly going up to 5.5!
Insulin doesn't even work this fast with me, no idea what this is about.

Anyway, my dessert was one of those colourfull sour mats, no messing about with stroopwafels at 3.3, that needs quick acting glucose.

Sounds very frustrating. I hope you’re feeling ok now.

Yes there are, I haven’t changed notification settings. They’ve just stopped coming. It’s happened a few times before but usually starts again with a flurry after a few months. I contacted Tapatalk who said it’s because DCUk haven’t updated the app for a few years.

Very windy day, so windy I walked instead of biked to the gym. It was quite the effort to walk against it.
Breakfast, I made a veg heavy corned beef hash with fried egg, nice treat
Lunch, planned over steak with red cabbage salad, lime ginger soy dressing
Dinner, tinned mackerel, avocado and feta on L/c toast.

Morning all. And I can say morning because it is 2.35am. I can't sleep. My eyes are really playing up. I was at the hospital for nearly 4 hours today and I have been diagnosed with cellulitis in the skin round my eyes. I thought you could only get it in your legs and arms. Atm they are gradually swellng up and by morning my right eye will be shut. It's quite painful, hot, itchy and sore. Back to the food. Monday lunch and it was 2 sausages with cabbage, carrot and 1 scoop potato after a small dish of chicken soup. I took my own dessert which is a lemon and lime mousse. Yesterday, because I was at the hospital so long, low carb was impossible. So today it's steak with a poached egg, I've gone off fried eggs. I know my fbg will be high so maybe I won't bother. Have a wicked Wednesday ;)

I'm so sorry, this sounds really nasty.
I hope things will improve soon!

It can be very confusing, can't it? Obviously dealing with diabetes is not an exact science, an art perhaps? It seems to depend a lot more on whatever else is going on, either physically or emotionally so it's a very hit and miss kind of affair. Glad to hear you got over it quickly. Those sourmats look interesting. Do they have fruit flavours or just sugar flavour? Must be good for a quick fix. Stroopwafels are tempting. I only found them a short time before I was diagnosed with T2 so enjoyed them for a short time and I don't dare buy them in for guests - I know I would binge on them.

That sounds horrible. I didn't know you could get cellulitis in your face either. Bad enough in your legs, which is where mine was/is? Who knows? Hope they manage to sort it out for you quickly.

Went out yesterday afternoon. Took a huge dish of the vegetable bake. Felt I had to have just a little of it - didn't want to , but it would have looked odd if I didn't. Problem was, it contained cauliflower and broccoli, both of which are bad for me. So I just had a spoonful. It had the usual effect, but not too bad. BG was OK though, despite accepting a fruit drink, which I was told was mostly water. It was, but the base must have been elderflower cordial. Boy, was it sweet! It was made and served by a 7 year old (he'd cut up some berries and served 2 or 3 pieces in each cup), so I felt I really had to take it. It did put BG up a bit, but not too much and it went down again, so all was well. Living dangerously!

Today my one meal will be the last of the chicken and mushroom and the cabbage and chorizo. Too early yet so I'll leave it another hour or so.

Hi All
Back to Monday usual brekkie slice LC toast good butter and copious tea.
Lunch two slices corned beef, tomato. Lettuce, pickled onions.
Supper was chilli & tomato mini meatballs with 2 0z spaghetti, sometimes not a problem and I’ e never found a lc replacement I like other than just green veg, dont like courgetti.
Yesterday same brekkie.
Lunch was pack of Serrano & Manchego rollitos, tea.
Supper was lightly spiced and baked chicken breast with cauli cheese.
Out to lunch today with friends at a nearby pub which fills me with dread over the food choices. Bad FBG today so only choice might be bowl of soup minus the bread and even that might have thickener.
@RosemaryJackson so very sorry about the eye problem, sounds really painful and horrible, you could have done without the 4 hours in A&E. big hugs for getting over it soon. @DJC3 sorry the vertigo is back, good you have medication that helps but must be so difficult to leave the house and avoid falls. Get better soon. @maglil55 we’ve just booked weekend in Bath for late April and will be trying Raphael and Antica you enjoyed on your trip. Also trying the Portofino seafood and wine bar, will report back!
