What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Busy but fun day. Lots of bike riding just to get jobs done and played pickleball twice today, a couple of hours each time.
Breakfast was more of the zucchini bread, no jam left though.
Lunch was 1/2 of a lovely ribeye steak, with creamy brandy sauce. Well I need to finish a bottle of brandy before we leave! broccoli salad and lettuce with blue cheese dressing.
Dinner so far has been a bottle of light beer and judging by how much energy I have left to get up and do anything that could be it for today. Just remembered I didn’t make the bed after washing the linens so I do have to get up and do one more job.

Ok, felt too guilty so had half a tin of mackerel, some broccoli and blue cheese.

Just had an e-mail from a friend to tell me that there is a gathering requiring food this afternoon. The dish I thought I had in the freezer was nowhere to be found so it is an opportunity to use up the frozen broccoli and cauliflower that I can't eat any more. Making up a vegetable dish as I go along. I think it'll turn out fine. Can't use wheat or dairy, due to dietary requirements of some of the folk to be there but I c an use veggie stock and herbs and spices and other vegetables and pulses.

Neil found Manchego cheese for me in the Co-op today. We both had a taste of it, even though Neil is lactose intolerant. Lovely cheese.

Food for today is the same as yesterday - without the foolish additions that I was too tempted by in the afternoon. Odd that it didn't seem to have any effect on BG for the 4 hours I was testing, to check. It did however have an effect on BG at bedtime and during the night. Still high this morning (compared to yesterday but not extremely so compared to what it has been sometimes).

So - chicken and mushrooms in a cream sauce with a side of cabbage and chorizo.

Thanks for that @Antje77. I had no idea you could do that. I copied the URL for the post, pasted it into the CMT browser, and, as you rightly said, it recognised it as a recipe. I use my mobile to access the forum. @DJC3- it's now in my CMT.

Thanks. Your recipes are my usual go to when I need inspiration so I’ll just remember to look when I’m in a baking mood! Thanks also to @shelley262 for the original recipe.

Whoops! Thank you ( again) the DCUK app hasn’t sent me notifications since Aug 2023 which is very frustrating. I look at this thread most days so I’ll usually see if I’ve been tagged, but never know if it’s somewhere else. It’s a pain.
Pretty sure you've already tried this, but are there settings available in the app? On the web version of the forum you can choose what notifications you want to receive.
I have no experience with the app, tried it once and gave up after an hour, I couldn't find anything.
Would be interesting to know if others using the app have the same issues.

Yes there are, I haven’t changed notification settings. They’ve just stopped coming. It’s happened a few times before but usually starts again with a flurry after a few months. I contacted Tapatalk who said it’s because DCUk haven’t updated the app for a few years.

Good evening all! Not much change in numbers but slightly better after the 23 hour fast.

Today I decided on 2 meals, so had avocado, full fat soft cheese, onion and tomato with leafy salad for "breakfast" at 2pm.

Edit: started with some fine green beans before "breakfast"

Dinner was some of yesterday's beef and vegetable mash up with extra cauliflower and some cheese. That's a lot of cauliflower, and while I haven't had any problems of the farty variety yet I might be pushing it today!

Glass of Kefir with dinner, sparkling water, black coffee, matcha green tea and a diet coke. I want chocolate but trying to stay off it!

Hi all
Mixed day today we were booked to go to Wales to see family for a few days but had a call to rearrange because of health of brothers partners elderly mum. To be honest though poor forecast with more rain so probably for the best. That meant though I had to go shopping as had run down my supplies and spotted reduced sticker rhubarb so bought two packs and got cooking. I cook rhubarb in slow cooker with lemons and root ginger. I keep all the cooking fluid ginger and cooked lemons to use as a cordial. I also experimented a couple of weeks ago with liquidizing a couple of the leftover cooked lemons and using in my low carb baking - will do this again in a few days as some cakes left in freezer. Photo below of my cooked rhubarb and the cordial - all now in fridge

@PenguinMum what a wonderful lunchtime with your grandson. What did you read to him?
I laughed at your ‘BAD for you’ sign to yourself, I think I might copy that idea.
2 meals for me today, late-ish breakfast of h/m yoghurt raspberries and seeds.
Late lunch/early dinner of salad which was nice enough but as I’d been cold all day it didn’t help. Followed by a couple of squares Montezuma’s Absolute black.
Out to the cinema to see the Bob Marley film, took a diet cola and pack of Cheesies. View attachment 66373
Yum Yum

woke to find the dreaded vertigo had come back so had to cancel all my plans today.
B- one scrambled egg to take new vertigo tabs.
l- L/C pizza topped with mozzarella, mushrooms, red pepper, olives and jalapenos
D- Rump steak, blue cheese sauce, mushrooms and airfried veg with some spinach stirred through.

Poor you your vertigo coming back it really is one of the most difficult things to deal with as you have to take things really slowly hope tablets help and crossing fingers it goes away soon.

Looking forward to the updates! I think I was giving mine too much milk which may have been getting sour rather than fermented by the grains.... I've kept a few healthy looking grains and now that the Tom Parker's is here I'm starting them off with some of that.

My wife recently had vertigo for first time ever, after two days of dizzy spells and walking like a drunk, phoned doctor who recommended the "Epley Maneuver" to be found on You tube (Bob and Brad), amazingly it worked immediately. Returned at a lesser level next morning, so we completed the exercise again and hey presto!! It worked !! Apparently it works for about 85% of people with vertigo, we can certainly recommend it.

Sorry your plans were cancelled but the cooking looks good. Can I ask do you sweeten the rhubarb at all? I love it but not sure I could do without a sweetener.

Hiya usually I have without sweetener - ginger and lemon gives it a sweeter taste to me - but if you like sweeter things no reason not to add sweetener to taste. I have used eyrithritol when serving to family who have sweeter teeth. Start low and see how you get on.

Sorry missed posting yesterday as was dealing with a family crisis, so dinner was very late, scrambled eggs microwaved and eaten straight from the jug! I’m sure you can all picture this as no photo taken!
Today:
Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a phd bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and a carb killa bar.
Dinner: gammon steak with roasted Mediterranean veggies.
