What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.9 FBG this morning. Felt pretty toxic overnight with sore throat and the sweats, but hopefully the worst is over. Chinese banquet later so need to get smartened up. Negotiating the rice, noodles and sticky sauces is always a challenge

7.3 today. Why does my upstairs meter give a different reading to my downstairs one.(both are tee2)
Morning @flonvic.

Most of us on this FBG thread (and the parallel thread for type 2s) test as soon as we wake. BG readings rise once we start to move around, negotiating stairs up or down. That's normal and to be expected.

FBG numbers logged as we wake ensures the conditions pre test are as close to identical as possible and provide a helpful benchmark for day to day comparison.

My reading on waking was 9.3! Went downstairs and tested 7.3?

‘Foot on the Floor’ phenomenon? A burst of glucose released to get the body up and out of bed, which has disappeared by the time you get downstairs.

I get something like that, although I keep my meter downstairs in the kitchen and sometimes only get around to testing after I’ve put the kettle on, fed the feline and other important priorities.

This morning first FBG test was 6.8, which was a tad high bearing in mind I’d only had soup for dinner, so I did it again 10 mins later and it was 6.0. Which is probably about right.

Hi @flonvic. I'd pick the reading you like best!

Seriously, how do these numbers compare with your FBG records over the weekend? I'd be inclined to keep your two meters together tonight and see if your FBG numbers differ tomorrow on waking.

I think we all know what that will be! Will try your suggestion tomorrow.
