Hard to have to be patient for that long. I hope the results are good, but it is worth saying that Tom lived with Parkinsons for about 20 years from diagnosis (after about 2 years with undiagnosed symptoms) and was as active as arthritis would allow for most of those years.

The verdict is in. Suggested selling price has MrSlims eyes gleaming. He has many sensible reasons for selling, not least of which is things will soon start to need refurbishing. He is talking kitchen units and taps everywhere, possibility of needing to reroof the back half of the house. It will need doing, but not just yet. Cost of heating in the winter, which is long, wet and cold.
For me, the house is finally "finished" I had hoped to have another year to actually enjoy living here. Time for day trips and relaxing with friends. Maybe short trips away. But this is typical MrSlim. As soon as nearly every house we have lived in is finished, he wants to move. I think he is worried that without a project he will be bored.
This time he is suggesting we could buy a smaller place in France. A different house with possibly better access to services. Shops and rubbish collection spring to mind.
He wants to get a motorhome and spend some time exploring France and Europe. When this argument didnt appeal, he changed tack. With a smaller place in France and a motorhome we would be able to visit the UK more often than we do at present. See more of my family, ( MrSlim has almost no family left, while mine seems to be ever increasing) Longer stays without swingeing hotel costs would be possible.
Meanwhile after a couple of years with very few visitors this year my mother is coming on the 20th for the first time. I really don't want to tell her we are selling, just as she has got up the courage to visit. My daughter is also proposing a trip over here, with all four of her children in August. It's over three years since she last came. MrSlim has a friend booked for a visit in September... why move now? Just as life here is becoming more interesting.
I am astonished by the depth of my reluctance to move.
Feeling very stressed and conflicted.

The local weather recording device just up the road, not Biddy hill, has a report saying It is the first time that this area has not got above 20degrees in the first half of the year.
6.8 this soggy Saturday. Woke up to a really heavy downpour, very windy and very cold, it was 7 degree first thing and just about scraping double figures at midday.
Everyone in the local shops had winter wear on.
And my garden flowers seems to have gone into hibernation. Grass isn't growing, good job, too wet to mow!

Had cramp in my right calf that woke me up about 3am it stirred Mrs L as well.
It took a good five minutes and a lot of leg and foot movement to relax the calf muscle. I did think I had pulled the muscle at first, but not. Mrs L wanted a cuppa, I told her in no certain terms, No!
it didn't matter, the snoring timbre started shortly after.
Still a little niggardly this morning.

Nice bit of cod or some chicken later, Mrs L has not confirmed the menu.

So frustrated with the weather and the consistent barage of garbage from those who have been instrumental in wrecking the country

Em, her mum and her 3 year-old niece have all gone down with something which is like covid. Alistair is trying to get hold of some tests today for them. Apparently there is a lot of it going around at the moment at the Nicolson Institute - our secondary school on the Island. None of them have been there though, so it must be around somewhere else as well. We are assuming that they will test positive - if not, it is another virus something like it. This time, they're not throwing it off so easily.

my DiL is a nurse, at the main hospital here.
she says there are so many different ailments going around.
similar to colds, flu, covid etc.
could be many reasons the long after effects from covid itself as we become more social again, the emerging of different virus due to or similar to colds etc. And the cold weather, chills, not enough sunshine and warmth.
one of the biggest surges in admittance to A & E is the number of children coming in with food issues.
hope they are much better soon.

Whatever it is, hope that they will be OK. Might be an idea for people to dig out some masks.
 
Good morning everyone on quite a chilly start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.4 this a.m. and arn’t we so dead lucky that our fuel bills are still lower than they were higher but not lower than they were - or something - ask the Prime Miniature, he is fluent in FlimFlam and thinks that an efficient form of public transport is a helicopter. Disappearing fillings - how do these time sensitive modern tooth splints know when it’s time to depart so that you then have contribute to the dentist’s wallet again? - NHS Dentists - not free at the point of delivery after all. Appointment made for Wednesday so better start saving and living on gruel. Those old fashioned mercury based dental amalgams may, just may, poison you or worst still act as radio receivers for Radio Luxembourg and the adventure of Dan Dare but they would see you out - literally! Art bit - a tree! Hooray! Hope your day is full of good stuff. I have finished my koffy - best make some more.

I am beginning to wonder if Rishi is deliberately making sure that they lose the election so he can escape back to California.

Surely no-one would make blunder after blunder if they really wanted to win.
 
6.0 this morning.

No internet. Contacted BT - they gave us job number and said that it will be fixed by next Thursday. Half an hour later broadband back on.

My dreams of a week without admin were dashed as now I can access all my documents on One Drive. Never mind - probably better not to let admin pile up.

We are off shortly to Gooderstone Water Gardens for a relaxing stroll and then coffee in the cafe.

Luckily my summer wardrobe consists of a large amount of clothes that most people would wear in the winter so I will be well wrapped up as it is still quite chilly.

My winter clothes that I packed away are so warm that most normal people would only wear then if they were exploring the arctic.
