They arrived very late. Midnight on English time so 1.00am here. After a drink and some catching up bed around 2h.
Glorious sunshine for the ferry trip and yesterday as well. Forecast to continue, but didn't live up to the promise. Cloudy and wet this morning, with occaisional bursts of sunshine.
Yesterday took Mum to a local garden. One I had visited before. Found it a bit disappointing. The roses had not been deadheaded and looked very bedraggled. They have obviously have problems with slugs and many plants were badly chewed. Still it was an outing.
We had planned to go to a market this morning, but sadly Mum is feeling unwell, so all plans are on hold.

5.9 at 03.30.

Went to the prize giving at Em's school yesterday. Em wasn't getting a prize - her kind of personality and intelligence is not appreciated in schools but her class had a presentation to make about their time at the primary school they are leaving next week and she felt the need for some family support. Like her Dad when he was young, she hates being on a stage with people looking at her. One of the speakers made remarks about each one of the 21 kids in the class, mostly about how good they were at some specific part of the curriculum. When he came to Em, his comment was "she is the personification of creativity". Damning with faint praise, I felt. Just like when, years ago, I spoke to a teacher about Neil and his comment was "Ah yes, Neil. He's quite a character."

Later, she called in on her way home and initiated a long conversation with Neil which started with information about sleep paralysis and went through other sleep/dream questions into competitiveness (absence of which is a family trait) and attributes passed from parent to child. I think that was the best part of the day for her.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen.

Blood sugars this morning were 4.6

Here in Tilehurst Towers Mrs J is making arrangements for total world domination or so it seems. Now I must go and pander to her next order.

Yes dear……..I’m on my way…………round the bend having lost the directions and plot.

Morning all on a decidedly cooler than yesterday start here in L.A. Thank you for the birthday wishes @lindisfel and @alf_Josiah. @gennepher and @dunelm thank you for sharing your art these last two days. @gennepher I always like your kaleidoscopes and @dunelm the range of your work is impressive. @Lamont D congratulations on those roses. @JohnEGreen I can offer heartfelt sympathy for the dressings issue. I have had an outbreak of bullous pemphigoid for a while now: seems to be a reaction to the immunotherpy which has been suspended for now. Two district nurses come in every 2 days to aspirate the tented bullae, clean and dress them. Takes well over an hour but JKP usually redoes them anyhow and spends at least as long every day. We are having to buy many item such as dressings (££s) stockinette and a whole trunk wrap (yesterday both arms, both legs and trunk were wrapped in stockinette to hold the dressings in place) - which the nurses are consuming apace. Yesterday I had a skin biopsy - not clear why as the same consultant identified the condition instantly 2 weeks ago - and now have steroids to go along with the cream we had. Why the two week wait? Thanks be to God for the care and kindness of the staff at West Suffolk Hospital. (£14 parking fee without a blue badge). Without access to the internet and being able to source and buy a variety of dressings this would be intolerable which is the link to John's point. Our GP doesn’t have many of the specialised dressings. What one doesn't pay in taxes one pays in the shortfall of basic services. Anyhow, I'm above ground, there is a summer of sport plus I have tea, JKP, my family and my faith. Have a great weekend if at all possible if not, smile and wave, smile and wave.

Much sympathy goes your way Ian.

A rough run at the moment for you @ianpspurs .

A matey hug & respect for the way you're handling all this & more.

A blessing to have JKP on the bench ready at a moments notice to be there with the cold sponge etc.

I think we all have days we're grateful to our god for the simplest of things.

Rather humbling when we're at a low ebb but inspiring to believe that someone, somewhere, is looking over us.

A little music, we were enjoying over the hols that might seem appropriate.

Lyrics for you @gennepher

Best wishes it all eases soon.

I haven't offered you a hug, @ianpspurs, you deserve a big winner for going through all that.

Maybe a teeny tiny gentlest of hugs.

Thankyou for the kaleidoscope compliments....

@alf_Josiah and @gennepher thank you for the sympathy and hugs. They belong to JKP who is bearing the full weight of this but I'm amazingly honoured to think anyone sees this as other than just living. It's made clear in the manual of being human chapter 3. It's not as if I'm being boiled in oil per St John or being crucified as was our Lord. I'm not humble bragging. Those who served in the military saw and suffer worse. My point in sharing was to back up @JohnEGreen in his point about dressings and community care and John again and @gennepher over hospital parking. @jjraak thank you so much for the Stormzy song and lyrics.

A bit windy here.
Freezing, then boiling hot, then freezing again.....
Butter is melting in my kitchen because it is too hot.

If I ever move again I will move back into a house with an upstairs and just live downstairs and seal off upstairs, because living next to the attic space space in a bungalow in these current very changeable weather conditions is intolerable...

Nighttime wildlife video.
For about 3 weeks this cat was the sole visitor in my back garden. It seems to me, like all the other animals, he wishes to make the garden and swing, his home.

This footage is sped up about 6 to 8 times. Cat Midnight was the only cat that met up with him.

None of the badgers or foxes attempted to visit while he was here. He appears to be ginger and white. He doesn't seem to be aggressive. Midnight and he are playing some kind of follow me dance, is the only way I can describe it.

I had many many hours of footage on this over the 3 weeks...and all that time no other cat nor badger nor fox came into the garden.

This is a fraction of the activity of one night. I was falling asleep all the time watching because it was in such slow motion....I have deleted the rest, nothing I can do with it, but it was very interesting. This ginger cat has not been back yet.

Creative...a kaleidoscope, from the Tiger Rose of yesterday.

Time for a cuppa.

Have your best day.

my best wishes to you lot as always.

My red roses have been deadheaded.
And slugs are continuing to decimate my others.
It is frustrating.
Any ideas anyone?

sport not going as well as we hoped but still in there.
The night at Headingly for Rob Burrow, was something else.
unreal and unbelievable!

Never been a fan of foxes.
They beat us at Wembley in 2001.
The foxes (animal) dug up my footie pitch.
My dog had a habit of finding fox faeces and rolling in it.

But I think foxhunting is despicable.

The tory party want to kill badgers so I want to hate them for it.

A week and a half to go.

A winner for both you and JPK for the very positive way you are dealing with this.

Ian thank you for having my back.
You are such a stoic having concern for us when you are going through so much I must admit I did not at first recognise the condition but Judith explained it to me and you have my sympathy not a pleasant thing at all.
And I know you would say we all have our cross to carry but we all would lighten your load if we could.
God bless you and keep you my friend.

John

So went for my appointment with the nurse first thing she asks is did I bring one of the dressings I had been prescribed for use at home with me no one had asked me to so I hadn’t she says well that’s a lot of use I said this is a doctors surgery don’t you have one no she doesn’t I despair at times I really do.
A GP's surgery would not necessarily keep these specialised dressings @JohnEGreen, but that might have been mentioned before your appointment!

Saturday's FBG, 4.3 mmol on waking at 6.00 am.

This is true but the first dressing was applied by the other nurse in the surgery a few days earlier from supplies in the surgery which mystifies me.
Still not to worry hopefully it will heal soon.
I think I maybe turning nocturnal as it’s 0430 daylight is shining through the window and I have not slept a wink.
Fbg is 8.1 not had a very good night.

Thank you @ianpspurs. Not a good situation to be in both for you and for @JohnEGreen. Lack of supplies demonstrates the dire state that the NHS is currently in.
