What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good late afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen and those who remember we all have our own opinions

Blood sugars this morning were 6.4

Busy old day here, plinky plonky lesson in the centre of Reading, necessitating parking in one of the massive multi-storey car parks. Have you ever forgotten where you parked. I did today walking up and down the floors from levels 2, 3, 4 and 5 twice. The car was on level 4 where I’d left it. Disaster darling’s disaster.

Edit
This afternoon was recovering from the massive pace count from walking the car park and then in the garden getting ready for national bin day tomorrow the recycling variant. Still to be completed is the written plinky plonky homework. Arpeggios etc.

Hopefully attached should Mrs J finally finished painting, due to her wrist problems this painting has taken some time to completed and has been claimed by one of her fiends.

Stay safe all.

Do thank Mrs A J for the splendid painting and pass on my best wishes for a full recovery. My bullous wrist noticed your gentle slap. We all have opinions but there are truths which are unfortunately undeniable. It was for a while my opinion that object near me was not really a wall. Turns out my opinion didn't match reality and now my knuckles hurt :playful: Rest up this evening fella.

Hug for the strip issue tempered with winner for time spent in the garden and especially on the lawn. We agree on lawns. Your list missed traditional cricket teas, with trifle obviously and we need pubs like a fish needs a bicycle :D I come in peace with the next part as stimulus material for a potential discussion among reasonable people as opposed to shooting each other as they do "across the pond"
The nonsense of dressing up day In Westminster today is part of the reason I have to quibble (ok, slightly rage) with a certain mythologizing of English culture/Englishness which has given us the immoral fight against Irish Home Rule, inexorably led to the Troubles and the Brexit deal fudge/cluster whatist, adores Churchill - (Viscount Alanbrooke made him look better than he ever was imho; how can anyone revere a man who had miners shot for striking?) and Thatcher, then austerity as homage to a housewife balancing the books - she didn't - (not needed anyhow with a Fiat currency) and Brexit amongst other apostasies, imho obviously. If I had to pick a cultural happy place/wheelhouse encapsulated in popular culture and music the attached is it. Minus the drugs - I'm very anti those. Nothing English, certainly not the Beatles nor anything since - Jess Glynne gets an honourable mention :D - comes close for me. Discuss.:playful:
Ahh! Cricket teas!
you forget that I have an un English dietary issue.
tea was usually something I brought myself.
butties with butter on i!t
tea with milk in.
Cake.

but I did enjoy the cricket itself, even the gentlemanly conduct, which back then was very different to today's sports edicts of winning no matter what.

The basis of your history of last century stems from the empire.
The pomp from the same outmoded royalist ideas that we are above you.
A divine right to rule.
And we will show you that.
No matter the cost of kids going hungry

Privilege is a huge burden on our economy.
We just cannot afford it, with the gulf between the rich and the rest getting wider.
And poverty growing.

How can a member of the pomp, on horseback, cost the taxpayer, a month's pay, for just one day?
It doesn't make sense.
Not logical!

The argument for the defence money is that it should be increased, I do agree, but do we need the number of pomp regiments, guards divisions?
I know they do serve abroard. And we have territories that depend on our armed forces. The finance of doing all this is not spent wisely. Every area of the forces has been hit by austerity and natural technologies. But the pomp regiments never seem to be effected.

I am not a royalist but I do believe we could follow other countries in how royalty finance themselves.
If you have never heard the debate in parliament about the royal purse.
The amounts for one and it's extended family is mind boggling.
I won't go on.
Lancs are on YouTube, T20.
And the arrows.
And .........

A very cheery beech brolly kaleidoscope - is it summer yet? Our council refuse disposal centre has required pre-booked slots for a few years now but at least we can go online and book a slot.
Thanks @dunelm

One lot of stuff can be booked online, I checked this morning. But two different things I need to use weekly there is only a telephone contact number for them.

I have emailed the council and asked them how I can do this. And mentioned the disability discrimination act...

Fbg 6.6

The video software still has me tearing my hair out....
I have lost so many decent clips trying to trim, split, cut, splice and all that palaver...I give this app one week of trying and if I get nowhere, I have another app lined up...

This video is a mess, but it's my best effort while I am learning...
Noisy Badgers this night
57 secs

There was a Small Tortoiseshell in my kitchen. It had just hatched out. So, I let it out this morning.

This might be the second butterfly I have seen this year. The first one was awhile ago, and I think that hatched out in my garden. It was a Holly Blue. I 'll check the garage and the potting shed later and see if any have hatched out and I will guide them out.
It is usually Peacock butterflies that hatch out here, I have loads of nettles. And Cabbage Whites - usually all their caterpillars devour all my tree kale and tree cabbage, but this year there was not one Cabbage White caterpillar. So, this year, for the first time, I am able to harvest my kale and cabbage in the summer. In fact there has been no pests or caterpillars devouring anything this year...

The kaleidoscope is of the tortoiseshell butterfly...

The sun is out at the minute but we are promised thunderstorms in a wee bit...

Have your best day...

The Holly Blue is well known for undergoing between year fluctuations in numbers @gennepher. Sorry to hear your Small Tortoishells have also declined this year. They produce up to three broods a year though and your patch of nettles will help them recover.

Meanwhile, your sole specimen has resulted in a beautiful kaleidoscope, Thank you for sharing.

Out of adversity came a splendid pace count! A real smasher from Mrs J despite the wrist still being on the mend. Wonderful.

Intersting take. One thing. Those pomp regiments are frontline infantry soldiers. They make up a big chunk of Army infantry and they have a number of rolls:
Specialists in reconnaissance including armoured reconnaissance.
Operate mortars, machine guns and anti-tank missile system
Serve with the Guards Parachute Platoon as part of 16 Air Assault Brigade
Serve with G Squadron 22 Regiment SAS
And they also take part in state ceremonial events

Yes, they do have a duty to make communications simple for everyone.

Good morning everyone from a most splendidly quiet and sunny start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. A flat white beige coloured 6.0 this a.m., culprit organs probably all in a flutter when my innards presumed that the trip to the loo at 0445 was a signal to get going - but no. Fooled the lot of them by sleeping for another hour and a half. Bin day cavalcade will be a sunny affair today with the orange clad outriders offering far more diligence than the oxymoronic US Secret Service and not a pair of Oakley sunglasses in sight. Health and Safety - my a**se. Art bit - were it ever so - well, at least once, and on this occasion at least. Be happy. Don’t abandon others but also don’t abandon yourself! Must make koffy.

6.3 this morning. Lovely walk around the park while we chatted to fellow dog walkers.

Just one more coffee before I start the admin. Received a huge pack of course notes for my course on Saturday. Will read them later with another coffee on my recliner chair in the conservatory.

There is always time to enjoy a koffy.

6.9 at 05.10 today. Up to 8.5 on the strength of 2 cups of tea before breakfast. Just had breakfast and insulin and hoping it will go down.

To town today to get my bandages replaced. No time to hang around but my arthritis has flared up since last night so having to sit even more than usual. Using the time out by posting on this forum.

Raining at the moment - has been since I got up. I think it's going to be an all day thing.

Good morning everyone on a glorious summer's day here in L.A. @dunelm thank you for sharing the splendid art and providing informed information about the "pomp regiments" main duties. @Krystyna23040 I hope that admin isn't too onerous and you can enjoy some coffee and some much needed summer. Here the gardeners are in today redoing two more not professional jobs. Between the local skip hire company and a well known national building/diy supplier, both working to West Suffolk time and standards, the jobs will stretch into the hottest part of the day when the lads were here by 7.15 - shame the skip wasn't. JKP is currently en route to Thetford to buy what the other people promised could be collected "first thing" but failed to deliver on time. The gardener is a young man making his way in the world having moved here from London. He and I seem to agree on the singularity of this area as regards customer service and ideas of the value of labour in C21st UK and just what grows - grass doesn't really. Let's hope I manage to be a better cricket watcher and tea drinker than I have been project manager although in my defence I offer the fact that this area seems to work on an extraordinarily flexible idea of professionalism and timeliness. Y'all have a great day if possible.
Update: Skip just came, gardeners are on lunch break so I'll bung the lads extra for the inconvenience and give thanks to God I can do so: 1 Timothy 5:18.

Thank you @ianpspurs. One can only hope about the truth behind promised timeliness. No cruelty to the Ox mind, they deserve their keep.

My nephew, is in one of those regiments.
He has done two tours in Afghanistan.
He has royal duties.
And he is a specialist in his regiment.
Which I don't have a big issue, it is the very fact that the number of regiments that do this pomp should not be necessary or the fancy dress parade opening parliament just because the monarch attends the seat of government. The cost of security etc. The man hours, the cost is unbelievable.
The services are struggling for many things, the money allocated could and should be diverted to necessary requirements.

No FBG again, awaiting phone call from docs.

Gasmen filling holes and being very noisy, it is really loud and messy.
#8 arrived just as the big wagons with the fill, pulled up outside I had to stand and watch men work with #8
Then the tarmac arrived. #8 was fascinated.
Then under orders from Mrs L, I had to go shops.

I have to say that, if I knew how his decision in picking items of the shelves was so productive, I would let him do the shopping. But as you can guess, other than the sweets, his choices were mostly returned to the shelf.
Indeed, we nearly got away with a packet of cookies, without paying.
I can now safely say my temper held much better than say a year ago.
I was very patient with the little ratbag.
It was a great test of my anxiety issues with going to shops, my anger issues and my resilience to scream and shout and use indifferent language in front of my grandson.
I think I passed. And I did have a chuckle when a packet of cakes ended up in the open cooler.

By the time I returned, the noise was very noisy, and Mrs L was dozing through it all.

Cricket on. And a very nice day there.
High cloud here, but temps in mid teens.
No rain yet.

While all this was happening, and I've been trying to write this, the plasterer turned up to finish the bathroom extractor fan positioning. Another job sorted.

Mrs L reckoned I did too much yesterday as I nearly had a lie in.

Gotta go, lunch is being taken.
My best wishes to you lot as always.
