What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning all from a damp but not even drizzling, dull L.A. - why, it is almost like the second week in December. @Annb hug for you and Neil since neither of your days are experiences for which most would wish/pray. Important though it is for Neil it is added stress for you both. Be kind to yourself, that wagon can rumble on for a day without you and stress also raises bg. @gennepher thank you for sharing the video and imaginative Kaleidoscope which really shows your creative mind is fully functional even when tired. @dunelm good news on the Veterans Christmas lunch swaps even with #porcineblanketfelonygate*. Add rage-baiting to doom scrolling and brain rot - not sure what that is a recipe for but someone on Diet Doctor will add cabbage, cream cheese and claim it is the elixir of life. Thank you for today's red.red art which struck me as very calming. Please be mindful (another overused word which rage-baits me) I'm as mad as a warehouse full of boxes of frogs. Liking the Stones reference, always much preferred them to the "Fab Four" somehow more orfentic. Hope the bloods are taken professionally and the results contain no nasty surprises. @Krystyna23040 well done on that first lone walk and Mr K has a successful and safe journey. Our dinky Christmas tree is now fully decorated with the essential aid of two professionals aged 5 and 3: they'd already done three. Have a poem: there's a crack in everything, four centuries before Leonard . Are there 3 or 7 basic plots? I'll leave it with you. Have a great or at wurst* (Stet) decent Tuesday y'all.
Thank you very much @ianpspurs for the compliments

Been out since early, in darkness. Already had a couple of little adventures. The coffee shop had a roaring coal fire...I hogged it for 2 hours nursing my coffee...warming my old bones...then where I went, they were not doing lunch today (they had a function on), sigh...but I got given a bag of delicious home made cakes for free.

I have absolutely no willpower over delicious home made cakes...and so I am now ready for an afternoon nap...

7.3 cos I'm drinking tea again, cold a bit better and have done an hour in the garden.
Further to my phone calls with the surgery.
Phoned first thing. Waited in the queue.
I would like a phone appointment for my wife please?
Reasons, name, etc.
Sorry, have not got one till end of December.
What?
So who can I get to speak to about home visit?
Sorry, not on Mrs L records.
Yes, but Mrs L has been disabled since 2011.
I can give you a face to face appointment tent with Dr ........ On Friday morning at 9.00am.
I'm afraid, that is far too early, as getting Mrs L ready takes a couple of hours and of myself and......
I have an appointment late afternoon.
That will have to do.
You must make this appointment, and it is at .........! Can you get there?
Yes, it is my surgery.

It is absolutely ridiculous. That I keep hitting this barrier to home visits.
Mrs L is on the at risk list from the government.
Mrs L won her case of disability in the courts against the DWP.
We have had the council improvements through the housing.
Why is this so difficult to get the doctors to approve what should be a service for her disability?

I am considering contacting my MP.

Had a delivery from the pharmacy, for the first time in months, most missing!!!!!!

Garden now ex foliage.

@alf_Josiah stay cool under fire mate.
The punishment is not as harsh as it always seems.
Be well.

I wish everyone a splendid tele togger Tuesday.

Hug for the understandable frustration but also admiration for the tenacity in fighting your corner. Gardening? A landlord opposite has been cutting grass. Judging by his vehicle, kit and some conversations he is a, or employs some, horny handed son(s) of the soil so my flabber is a tad gasted. Chill out later with the tele togger.

My lawn does need a trim but it would be foolhardy as it is still too wet from the weekend, and with the frost threat in the next couple of days, highly inadvisible. As under 5 degrees most types of grass, is dormant.
And that leads to root problems.
My good friend who was head groundsman was very fond of frosty mornings.
As cutting it, meant he couldn't do something else, like nothing!

I tried several ideas but none of them worked. Then I saw some red buckets in a large Plantpot. It looks like a flower again!

Night night

Hi @Lamont D

About 15 years ago when there were GPs at my surgery, I had an issue with one of them. I contacted the practice manager got nowhere, and so I then contacted the head of the Flintshire health board. I was not supposed to do this, I was supposed to go through other channels. But by contacting this guy, he gave me a lot of useful advice and went through various booklets and showed me how to navigate the system. This great guy has long gone.

But I was googling how to do it from your area or what to do.

Google threw up this set of suggestions...
"If you have concerns about your GP, you can:

  • Talk to the GP or practice manager: You can raise your concerns verbally with them.

  • Make a formal complaint to the practice: If the issue isn't resolved within one day, you can make a formal complaint.

  • Contact NHS England: You can contact NHS England to make a complaint about your GP.

  • Contact your local integrated care board (ICB): You can contact your local ICB to make a complaint about your GP.

  • Contact your local council or local Healthwatch: You can contact your local council or local Healthwatch to find out about complaints advocacy services in your area.

  • Contact the General Medical Council (GMC): The GMC is an independent body that regulates doctors in the UK.

  • Contact the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman: If you're not satisfied with the response from the practice or NHS England, you can ask the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman to look into your complaint. "
If your MP is as useful as mine, then he's no more use than a chocolate fireguard as regards surgeries and GPs.

I hope you don't mind me googling on your behalf....

It does say above that if you make a formal complaint to your practice, it appears it has to be resolved in one day.
If it is not, then you can take your formal complaint further.

Thank you @ianpspurs and yes, Rolling Stones - “Fab Four”, not so much.

Very festive

Good morning everyone on a late start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.3 this am when I dragged my alleged shrinking body out of bed. Health check yesterday went well and all things measured are at the lower margins of NHS acceptable min to max guidelines. What do they know, although it seems like year on year that I am slowly becoming a shrinking violet as someone is skimming off my height which originally topping out at 5’ 10” does not give much of a margin before built up shoes are searched for. Why can’t they take from our youngest son who at 6’ 4” has loads of height that could be scraped away with little or no change in appearance. I on the other hand may just be able to fit into a Santa’s Little Helper or and Elf on the Shelf outfit by next Christmas or change my name to Wayne Sleep. No wonder my Zoot Suit looks even dafter than it did when first purchased. Art bit - so good they did it twice. Hope your day is a snappy dresser, I do need some koffy.

Looks like a road now in front of the house now, a bit safer than the river that was converging in front of the house, with the high probability of flooding @dunelm
Enjoy that expertly made coffee...

7.0 this morning. Some rather naughty food late last night, so actually I think I got off lightly with that reading.

Yesterday did two lesson plans for class members over the Christmas vacation. I focussed on keeping their bodies supple with rotations and gentle stretches which will also help the synovial lymphatic system to work well.

Have got lots of lovely emails thanking me for them.
