What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Neil's bread making machine just packed up - just as he was making bread to take with him to the mainland (for eating after his procedure is done). Just ordered a new one from Amazon but he'll have to wait until the end of next week for it to arrive. It's a long time since either of us made bread by hand so we'll have to see if we can remember how until it arrives.

Thinking about it, indigenous people from the arctic are somehow sun tanned for the reflection of the sun on ice and snow. Go figure!
If it comes to that, I'm pretty weather beaten too - just this far north. Lack of pollution in the air leads to more potential sun damage, so people here tend to be either very ruddy complexioned or fairly dark complexioned. In our case though, it's generally wind damage rather than sun damage.

Yeah I get that, but for some reason, even though I have lived no more than a mile or so at the most from the coast, I'm not like that, weather beaten I mean.
I tend to draw comments, that might be uncomplimentary, about how tanned I am after a couple of days in the sun. And the most common question, is, have I been abroard?
And when I have been, and I love Greece, (3 times) I don't have to sunbathe, to go more tanned.
I always feel better in the warmth, not until lately have I felt the cold.
I have mentioned this to my old doctors, quoting 'seasonal adjustment disorder', to get a freebie holiday on the NHS!!! Ha!

New Badger on a stormy night
He was foraging around for a good few hours
But he did not turn up the next two nights...

I was going to do one of my paintings again, but I had already got into bed for the night, so what to do? I shone a light through my pink water bottle and came up with this flower!

Night night from me
Sweet dreams

Nice!

It's 05.15 and Neil has just left for the ferry. It doesn't sail until 07.00 but he has to be in the queue by 05.45. Between us we managed to get my old mobile phone working, so he can call CalMac or the hospital, or home, if he needs to. So that's me on my own for the first time in 60 years. Quite a new experience. It will (should) only last just short of 2 days, but even so... The last time I was completely alone was ... come to think of it, I have never been without somebody in the house with me, all of my life. First my mother was always there, then Tom, then his mother, then Neil and Alistair, then Tom again and after he died, Neil has always been here, unless he was shopping for me for an hour. My goodness! It will be odd.

BG 11.9 at 03.00 - I rather fell off the wagon yesterday evening so I can't blame anyone but me. Must behave today to get it back under control.

I need a cup of tea. Been avoiding making any so far because Neil couldn't have anything - fasting since 09.00 yesterday.

A win for the phone, being so organised & Neil getting the best start to his trip @Annb

I almost gave a hug for the new experience of being in the house alone , mind

It could be 'odd' after so long with company
Or
It could be a 'growing' experience.

I guess it depends if it's a
'mournful' ticking of the clock while reading some books type of day.
Or
A stripping off and doing zoomies around the house listening to MOTORHEAD the ace of spades, type of day . ;)

Either way, try to enjoy the moment, it sounds rare.

What an opportunity to carefully move everything in each room of the house 180 degrees.

Good morning everyone on a perfectly silent start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. Rage-baiting, a new way of making money - grrrh! I must click and complain about everything! Lots of paths down through the woods blocked by itinerant trees so that will keep some folk busy for a while. Fallen trees are usually just moved out of the way of paths and then left for the woods to consume over time. Smashing Veterans Christmas Lunch yesterday in Durham. Mrs Miggins swapped her turkey for my parsnips and carrots, which was nice, but then made an underhand dive for my pigs in blankets - cheek! Health checks for Mrs Miggins and I today - arm fulls of blood to be sacrificed on the alter of the centrifuge - or is it just subterfuge? Art bit, I am the little red roofter, to lazy to crow for day. May your day be berry and might. I simply must make koffy.

6.0 this morning.
Mr K has gone to Jaguar in Norwich to get his windscreen recalibrated as it didn't recalibrate after he had a new windscreen fitted.

He thinks it managed to recalibrate itself as it started to warm him of speed cameras again but he thought it better to check that it has recalibrate properly.

As he went so early I took Poppy out for the first walk on my own after spraining ankle. All went well - although Poppy decided that she would do a forensic search of every inch of the walk - so it took absolutely ages.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen. Also those DNA records which like mine were perplexing with a high percentage of Neanderthal and other early proto humans. Believe that and you will have proven you believe politicians election promises also.

It has been shown that blood sugar readings are a good indicator of body stress levels. So it was no surprise my blood sugars this morning 9.0

Please forgive me signing out. I want to sleep off the side effects of the Morphine I taking at the moment.

Good morning all from a damp but not even drizzling, dull L.A. - why, it is almost like the second week in December. @Annb hug for you and Neil since neither of your days are experiences for which most would wish/pray. Important though it is for Neil it is added stress for you both. Be kind to yourself, that wagon can rumble on for a day without you and stress also raises bg. @gennepher thank you for sharing the video and imaginative Kaleidoscope which really shows your creative mind is fully functional even when tired. @dunelm good news on the Veterans Christmas lunch swaps even with #porcineblanketfelonygate*. Add rage-baiting to doom scrolling and brain rot - not sure what that is a recipe for but someone on Diet Doctor will add cabbage, cream cheese and claim it is the elixir of life. Thank you for today's red.red art which struck me as very calming. Please be mindful (another overused word which rage-baits me) I'm as mad as a warehouse full of boxes of frogs. Liking the Stones reference, always much preferred them to the "Fab Four" somehow more orfentic. Hope the bloods are taken professionally and the results contain no nasty surprises. @Krystyna23040 well done on that first lone walk and Mr K has a successful and safe journey. Our dinky Christmas tree is now fully decorated with the essential aid of two professionals aged 5 and 3: they'd already done three. Have a poem: there's a crack in everything, four centuries before Leonard . Are there 3 or 7 basic plots? I'll leave it with you. Have a great or at wurst* (Stet) decent Tuesday y'all.

Alf you are forgiven everything just now. I hope the Morphine induced sleep does the job and you will soon be driven home for Christmas. Take care, though those nurses will certainly do what they do best even though the regular checks can disturb one's slumbers. Oh, and tick the large portion box as they do so like to see one eating well.

Love the red roof painting.... @dunelm

Hope the coffee was good...
