What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Likely isn't but worth checking

Any uptick in Mrs L's behaviour could be a water infection .

Edited to add link .

Very common.

Mum when suffering had a much more extreme version of her symptoms .

Easily sorted once medicated for to get her back down to her more average level.

One to bear in mind, my friend.

Hug for the hard day .

Hope the night & coming day is easier on you .
Mrs L has her urine checked at our last six momthly diabetes review.
whilst I had the p... taken out me by #8 this morning.
but I will keep that in mind. UTIs are very painful. I know, I've had a couple.
cheers @jjraak.
Hope you have a good night's sleep @Lamont D and a better day tomorrow.
thanks @Krystyna23040 . Much better today.

Thanks @jjraak

Sorry I didn't respond more quickly, I am trying to get back on track to normal everyday things...

You are right, the deafness information could have been on a secondary page. Which is just useless for me, and is useless for anyone with a disability that should be flagged up when someone opens the screen. In today's digital age it could easily be that something could come up on the screen for five seconds giving a medical information and going to a small button on the corner of the screen in case someone needs to touch it again.

Actually I still carry my old cards from 2004 I printed loads. But more recently, especially the nurses in my so called GP practice, one of them just tossed it aside without reading and the other one just waved her hand & didn't read it. And I tried to do a workaround for them the next time I visited it. The workaround worked with one nurse but not with the other.

I think some of my problems on Tuesday were with me getting my phone mid eye exam to get to the cochlear app (on my phone) to readjust my programming on my cochlear processor because of the (silly stupid) student nurse who actually took it off to put my glasses back on because I took them off to cleaning them because they had steamed up mid eye exam.

I had explained before I took my glasses off I said my eyes had steamed up I cannot see the eye chart, the main nurse kept saying put them back on, put them back on, taking no notice that I needed to clean the condensation off. And the student nurse came over to put my glasses back on and took them out of my hands while I am still cleaning the condensation off to put them back on my head, but the cochlear processor was in the way so she took it off and disconnected it from the magnet in my head. And I'm saying to the student nurse... don't don't... it is going to need reprogramming... It was total chaos.

I am trying to connect my cochlear processor at the same time as trying to take my glasses back off again because they've steamed up again. And all the while the main nurse was getting crosser and crosser with me.

But the magnet has been off my head too long and it needed reprogramming so I got my phone out of my bag, & the main nurse went ballistic saying I can't use my phone or whatever she was saying (because I could not hear a blooming thing because the processor was disconnected) and the student nurse was trying to take the phone off my hands to put back in my bag, and I am grabbing it back off her trying to explain that the cochlear processor remote is in my phone and I have no way of connecting the processor to the right levels to hear without the remote on my phone...no one understood a thing... they just saw a batty old lady who was determined to use her phone to make a call in the middle of an eye exam.

And I think that was what was reported to the specialist doctor who came in furious at the end literally expelling me from his clinic.

I cannot think of any other reason for his absolute horrendous behavior to me.

So I need a completely different kind of information card. I have never been in this situation with absolutely no understanding what so ever and blatant disregard for what I am trying to tell them, they just saw me reaching for my phone they did not listen to me at all and just saw what they wanted to see a batty old lady trying to make a phone call halfway through her eye exam, and told the specialist eye doctor that. He would have no reason to disbelieve them and expelled me from his clinic.

I have to make sure this situation never arises again. Also depending on the reply from PALS/PACT I might escalate this to a formal complaint. I didn't intend to, but writing in detail the above experience with the nurse and the student nurse, it is absolutely appalling. I was trying to forget it.

So while I am writing this I am thinking that the cover picture for the card includes 'my cochlear processor and magnet and an arrow to my mobile phone and an arrow back from my mobile phone to the cochlear processor' as a visual thing to explain that the mobile phone is integral to the cochlear processor.

I am also thinking just now, of writing to the head of the cochlear implant team, because I think there will be a black mark on my medical result records of this total misunderstanding of events which puts me in a very bad light.

This was only meant to be a short reply but I was thinking and working out stuff in my head as I'm replying to you.

You said "Though why caring for the patient seems so secondary is beyond my understanding". I completely agree.

I hope you have a good day.
a walking stick, or a club, and a tap on the calf muscle will usually get their attention.
I just can't think, why you haven't tried this approach?
And if that don't work, a Kirkby kiss, gets a response.
And if all that fails, Grannies answer from the Beverley Hillbillies, is so attention seeking.
Nobody ignores a shotgun!
Stop being nice, about it all !!!!!!!!!

Hi @Lamont D
I used to have a 2CV in 1971, and it used to terrify me driving through the four lane tunnel, it still does. I am terrified of tunnels, goes back to the days when my parents drove through the old Blackwall Tunnel (London way) in the 1950s with water pouring down those white tiles, and the policeman with white gloves (which used to direct traffic because only one lane could go through on a bend) who wore wellies because the water more than covered his feet.
My parents got fed up with me screaming the entire way through the tunnel. Absolutely nothing could calm me. And they ended up using the rickety wooden ferry over the water to get to the other side.

I was not a very popular child.

I might be a grown girl now, but I still mentally scream the entire way through any tunnel. I prefer the two lane tunnel. Else it is driving the wrong way from home and going over the Runcorn bridge... Driving through Warrington....

It was the first thing I ever learnt about the tunnels, their actual names, in 1971, and not the actual town names. And that is the info that always sticks with me, whatever different you tell me later. I have to do a mental photo picture of the town on the other end of the tunnel for me to go through the right tunnel. I will go through Kingsway Wallasey tunnel rather than Queensway, Birkenhead Tunnel, and come back over the Four Bridges to get back to the A41...if needed...

Have a great day...
My eldest brother worked on building the Kingsway Wallasey tunnel. And of course, I have walked it, and tother one, oh yeah Queensway.
Back when we were discussing routes, the old tunnel, was different as both ends, there is still the dock exit by the Liver buildings, but you can't use it as an entrance. On the Birkenhead side, the other exit was closed down in the seventies, and is not used at all. That was close to the dock road, Birkenhead side, which the four bridges connected the the Dock Road Wallasey. Which had only one bridge serving the dock complex up to the Wallasey pool. And again as you say, police officers with white gloves were common, and if I remember correctly, there was traffic lights at those junctions within the tunnel, so vehicles could access the dock entrsnces. It would be weird now. Also I get the closeness of the four lanes, as the tunnel buses, which there is a lot, use the outside lane.
A lot of people know there is also the train tunnels, which have been running since Victorian times. And many other tunnels under the city. It is claimed to be the reason for the time slip occurrences in Bold Street. Which are very interesting.
I even remember the train station which was across the road from ours by the ferry terminal. It is now houses, but it is over the Wallasey tunnel, that goes underneath the Seacombe area. And the motorway feed from the tunnel to the flyover and three lanes, follows the old train system. There are still trains from Bidston to Wrexham every hour or so. That are close to the motorway.
Trains, ferries, motorways, but no planes in the Wirral.

6.4 on this day of recovery from yesterday's from dawn to twilight boxing day (or it's unboxing day) or just four sleeps to go. (ish, I think)
Any who Mrs L bust her pad.
And in a cantankerous mood.
And not only being stubborn but, full of mischief.
And to top it off, slid off the couch as tiredness overwhelmed Mrs L.
I couldn't get Mrs L back up, for a while. Just as I was thinking to use the emergency button, between us we just about managed.
Anyway, that was the past, gone, but I was totally angry. Not only with Mrs L but myself.
Having a much better day,
Hope you enjoyed Christmas yesterday?
My bestest wishes.
I think I missed the traditional togger tournament, or did i?

Morning all in my virtual caring, sharing community where we probably need some entertainment from the youngsters like @jjraak for our OAPs Christmas party. No carbs or UPFs in the food please. Fitbit told me my readiness score was high this morning which is testament to the crack in Science and technology, as was the need for metal arm bands when using the first sprout stalk strippers :arghh: Wreath laying and Aunt visiting went well which undoubtedly accounted for the good sleep score, vital signs and high readiness. Unlikely to have been a cheese salad which was entirely spiffing. Here is yesterday's sonnet - join the dots yourself.
Philip Larkin on post war England:

Something is pushing them

To the side of their own lives

And that was before the internet and social media - lines five and six of the sonnet are powerful imho. There is also a play on the two meanings of virtue and the irony of using virtual for the online world. @dunelm thank you for yet another in the series of wonder red pieces, including the red cabbage idea. @Krystyna23040 enjoy the rest and DMs Sister Fatima - lyrics. Two grandchildren here today, Suoer Mario paused for Cupcake making: when will the butter be soft Nanny, we've washed our hands. Enjoy Friday, Moonpig and Amazon will still keep you in the game - no 42000 candle torches here:D
Thank you @ianpspurs. Enough red cabbage made for both tonight and the big day. Grandchildren, baking - wonderful.

7.9 at 05.00 today. Since painkillers haven't been much help recently anyway, I decided to take just paracemol this morning - my brother tells me he just takes half of one tablet and that's enough for him. I took the full dose though. However, it didn't work either so later I added in some codeine. It hasn't done much either but I have to remember that this is Friday. Friday being the day after my Thursday foray into town for my leggy session. I don't suppose walking into the butcher's shop and standing at the counter for a few minutes helped either. Never mind, at least I got a decent piece of beef (and then some) plus some of the butcher's own make of sausages and a couple of really nice pork chops.

The beef I'd ordered was a fore rib and I made a bit of a mistake when I ordered it. I wanted there to be quite a lot of meat to have lots of left-overs so ordered a 4 rib piece (4 fore-ribs) It's huge! Weighs in at about 41/2 kg. I daresay the bones are a large part of that but there's a lot of meat there. Never mind, I will use it with the aid of the freezer.
Pain control to bandaged legs - it’s a space oddity, hard to ignore. Fore rib, only a little bit of a mistake. My purchased morsel will be seared and then very slow roasted.

As you say, the past is gone. Just another rehearsal. Take care.

Still wasting my life on doing this family history stuff and have spent the afternoon listing the generations from Mark Antony's grandfather to my ancestor Henry Smythe in mid 16th century. 85 generations! Not sure how many more to reach me but I'm leaving that for another day. Took the last 6 hours to get this far.
Its never a waste if u are enjoying it :)

Two Badgers - Thor & Willow
These are two new badgers, since the first regular badger family and the two foxes that came with them had totally disappeared since the snowfall.

Thor and Willow came independently to start with, and this is the first time they have appeared together. I think they are possibly a couple and were carefully scouting out the area, independently at first before they both went to the same place together. I am assuming they now think my garden is a safe space and I am glad if they think that.

Creative - a little cushion kaleidoscope in Laboscope.

I am tired now, I spent the rest of the day composing a letter to the cochlear implant team about Tuesday, explaining what happened, and asking for their advice and help for future situations like this which has never happened before like this extreme incident. And explained about the prospective cataract operation, if there was going to be problems with the cochlear sound processor and the connection and the mobile phone.

I just want to sleep now.

Sweet dreams xx

Interesting information @Lamont D

I have experienced a few time slips in Bold St and on the central station platform to West Kirby. A bit scary.

Also at Walton (Junction) railway station, I often ended up walking to the station over the footbridge (I lived one minute away) and at that point the Edwardian people appeared. And I was walking amongst people dressed in Edwardian clothes, and down the steps onto the platform, at the point the train came in they melted away and I stepped on a modern train.
In those days, the waiting room was as it was in Edwardian times. For some reason I was always waiting alone in there, and the station master would come in, in winter, and ask me if I would like the fire lit. I always said yes, and I wondered what was happening with time. Because before the next train came in, I was sitting next to a roaring fire and the station master bought me a cup of tea in a china cup and saucer. No one ever came and sat in with me. I never saw any other passengers outside either while I was in that waiting room nor any trains going by....

I did mention to one of my neighbours about the waiting room, the fire, the station master bringing me a cup of tea and they said don't be silly, that waiting room has been locked for years. It was never locked for me.

Wow! Freaky Friday!
Yes, I've heard about these time slips, through word of mouth or gossip as you will. These time slips are one of a number of strange occurrences within the area. Lots on YouTube etc. There are the usual ghost stories, so many of them. But, there is some strange stories around the whole area, such as the wreckers off New Brighton. Mother redcaps, the actual smugglers tunnels around the rednoses, on the coast.
A strange one at Vauxhall in Eastham.
We would be very wary of the old huts, that used to be RAF huts that were built during the war. The factory was built on the runway. There was always stories about sightings of figures in around these huts.
One night I had to fetch a car from the compound and a driver rushed past us, into the nearby building as white as a sheet. The guy said, that whoever it was passed close to him and asked where the maintenance shed was?
Sorry?
Maintenance shed?
No idea.
The person walked a few steps and into light faded away.
The poor guy, never worked nights again. And the union wouldn't allow the lads to work out there on their own.
It could have been me. I do have the vivid dreams, and it is a common theme around the lads who have worked out there. That dreams of the place are never far away.
Sweet dreams.

A rather stressful evening / early morning .

Next door neighbour took a grudge to a leak from the neighbours below ours, flat

They've gone away for the Christmas .

She was Banging on our downstairs door around 9pm

Left a note they're not happy with leak

Contacted neighbours not long after who are arranging to get the letting agency around to check what leak is and effect repairs

Neighbour from hell came back around 2am with baseball bat, smashed all the windows in downstairs front door.

Reaching in, let herself in then proceeded to knock on doors until she got to ours

Lauren didn't want me going out to her, but I needed to get her away from Lauren, so I went out to talk to her .

All passive aggressive, something with my job I've been very used to over the years, so not too bothered, however fully aware I'm not best placed to defend myself like I once could.

So while I engaged and tried to deescalate the situation, I made sure to be just out of range or too close to be hit ....ready but not wanting to take the kind of action to damage or put her down

Thankfully police arrived and took over the situation

End result they took her away, may charge her with criminal damage, & possible breaking & entering ..will find out more tomorrow

I SO don't need a neighbour dispute

We spent early hours of this morning dealing with her, talking to the police, cleaning up all the broken glass & boarding up the door.

Wendy all fingers & thumbs come diy & me with a gammy hand, a dodgy shoulder & one good leg.
Exhausted, tired & aching to high heaven, but I just couldn't leave anything to chance given she's such an unpredictable quantity

Daylights arrived, so I feel safer leaving Lauren alone chatting to everyone she knows it seems, while I drag myself off to bed

Ladies clearly not right

Suggestion is police neighbourhood teams get involved and we sit down and have some mediation meeting.

I'm hoping that clears the air, but not holding my breathe as yet.

It all came out of the blue.
Note on door at 9pm

Banging on door early morning,
Smashing windows not long after

And in-between she popped a Xmas card through tte door with
"Merry xmas, I smashed your windows" written in it ..I kid you not :hilarious:

Which I discover when police are inspecting the door damage and all the broken glass

So it's mediation and we're all be like little fonzies .
Or
Await the next moment and escalate to pressing charges.

Piddle poor choices, so I pick A

Wish me luck

Lovely kaleidoscope and hope that your letters bear some fruit. My mother carries stamped postcards in her bag - notes of any complaint sent in plain sight and very quickly after such events as you had.

The woman doesn't sound as though she's quite sane. In which case mediation won't help and she needs to be taken in hand by the authorities. On the other hand, maybe she's been having a bad time and just snapped, taking it out on your neighbours and you. Mediation might help in that case, but she sounds like a dangerous person to have around. Well done you to have handled it the way you did, but I'm glad the police came as soon as they did. Hugs and sympathy for yourself and Lauren.

BG was yo-yoing again last evening. First dropping too far, then after correction (should have been fast, but took a while to work) shot up to 12.9. I obviously overdid the correction. Anyway, bed at 11.45 pm with the high BG. Didn't try to correct it again in case it dropped too low while I slept. As a result of the early night, I was up again by 03.15 with BG at 8.9. However, it has dropped again to 6.5 now, so we'll see how it goes today.

Mediation sound like a first call. She may need some help.

Good morning everyone on a whistle down the wind start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.2, eyes of blue this a.m. Granddaughters video chat early evening - last day at school excitedly reported and check out my new dance school hoodie from not so Little Miss Pamplemouse who, at 10 years old is as tall as her mum. Non-uniform day, treats, disco, what is falafel made of - it’s dead cosmopolitan in Birmingham. Veterans Christmas lunch today and apart from the distressing palate feel from the offspring of Bernard Matthews it should be a grand occasion. Mrs Miggins seems to have more Christmas jumpers than Karl Lagerfeld‘s offerings at a Paris fashion show. I have but one and only wear it on leap weeks. Art bit - I saw three ships. Hope your today is a Saturday and you do enough to satisfy the day. I best make koffy.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen.

Blood sugars this morning were 7.9, ahh the benefits of feeling under the weather. Yep it plays havoc with blood sugars and lets slip the corpuscles of war.

I am under strict instructions to rest up, now into day 3 of resting and wondering about buying a guide to the use of idiot box remote controls.
If I were to buy such a tome, Mrs J would probably hide it.
Talking of Mrs J, Mrs J has gone foraging at the local supermarket, fortunately my presence is being actively discouraged.

Have the best day you possibly can.
