I had 2 shortbread biscuits last night...
I was up early because I wasn't sure when the recycle was this week. They never collected the recycle or waste last Saturday, so I needed to get your they're going to collect. I checked on their site last night and it said Thursday, but I was pretty sure I had seen someone on the neighbourhood watch site saying don't forget it's Friday this week. I checked on two calendars within the council site and they both said today for recycle. Then I found a downloadable PDF. Open that up, and it said Friday. But there was nothing on the site even when I looked before Christmas to say Christmas/New Year collections or anything.
So I put on my purple beanie with the headlight, and went out. The ground is like a skating rink, my car is frozen solid, and I can see the main road has not been gritted. I won't be going to the shops for fresh food this morning. Looked up and down the road no recycle out so I now assume it's Friday for recycle.
That took an hour of my time!!!!
I am safely back in now.
Although when you slip on ice, you generally go backwards, onto your bottom or flat on your back... and I have never done an Akido backward roll. I just had a quick look on YouTube and most people who are teaching the Aikido forward roll (or it's the ones I have just looked at) advocate putting your hands on the ground on the beginning of the road. I was never taught like that. That is definitely a sure way to damage your wrists and hands. So that is my job for today to find someone on YouTube who teaches Aikido the way I learned it all those years ago.... there are a couple of other moves that I would like to be refreshed on because they would help me if I was in difficulty..... although I have never had the need to use them yet, it is just the forward roll....

Smashing effects on that watercolour. You might look at a parachute landing Fall (PLF) which goes sideways and then back. Paragliders do the same. This clip has Subtitles. Of course, on ice, control will be very minimal.Fbg 7.5

WOW!
Art bit is beautiful @dunelmGood morning everyone on a wonderfully quiet start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. There will be a bin collection today. First of the year so I hope they do well. Went over to our daughters yesterday for a leftover lunch. We wanted to then go for a walk but rain stopped play. A weak excuse perhaps but we are still getting used to this years spin round the nuclear reactor. Our little Smart car needs a run out today. It has a Brabus conversion and can’t sit for too long without getting mardy and if it’s going to snow later this week it needs cheering up. Art bit, sailing home. May your day be shrouded in warmth. Mine will move along a lot better after some koffy.
Thanks for posting this. It is one of my old favourites along with to many other old songsAn interesting song 'In the Year 2525' - came up on my Facebook. I haven't heard it in years. Hope the link works. It has lyrics. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N03Uoj6p9QA&ved=2ahUKEwi3g4D3ytaKAxUhVUEAHdWhHvgQwqsBegQIDRAE&usg=AOvVaw2xbtM8ggDL3hJA14M0nzCq
Yes, I had completely forgotten that it was one of my old favourites. Thanks for posting this. It is one of my old favourites along with to many other old songs
I'm still digging back into my family past and have discovered one new ancestor that I didn't know about and information on one that I did know about. The new one was Jethro Tull - not the modern one but the one who invented the seed drill. the one I knew a bit about already (Capt Tomos Prys) turns out to have been on one of Drake's expeditions, then became a privateer even after the war with Spain ended. He was also a poet and his works are in the British Library. Must see if I can access anything he wrote. This morning’s Fbg was six point zero.
A couple of days ago I finally worked up the courage to contact one of my DNA matches on ancestry she was given as a 1st cousin or half niece she messaged me back the next day saying she was glad I had messaged her saying she had some family photos she was willing to share with me.
Judith contacted a cousin shown in her dna matches they have exchanged addresses and phone numbers and Judith through her new found cousin has found out that a cousin of hers who passed mothers who it was assumed had passed away is to the contrary still alive and kicking at the age of 93 and that he would like to have regular contact also.
Ancestry keeps adding new matches every day and notifies me of them on the home page.
I believe ancestry DNA Severn the area s connected with your origins by comparing your dna with a data base they have of people with known long term association with certain geographical areas when they find more refined or new areas they update everybody’s dna origins automatically.
I thought I was doing well with over 17 thousand matches but Judith has 24 thousand most of mine are in the USA but a lot more of Judith’s are in the UK.
