What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Back up to 7.
Oh well!
Some good news, Mrs L 's hba1c has dropped to below 50, which is brilliant.
And a home visit in early February.

A really busy day, on and off the forum. Babysitting duties for most of the day, will catch up again later.
Best wishes.
Congratulations to both of you on Mrs L's A1c

This is a thread for those chatterboxes who not only enjoy letting us know their daily fasting level but also like to engage in friendly banter above and beyond the simple 'hello'. I am not known for my banter but I do enjoy hearing from the regulars about how their day is going, feeds my soul.

So to you, my DCUK friends, here is a new page where you can be as verbose as you wish and still comply with the moderators stick.

Going to link names of regulars, kind of advert for this post and if I've missed your name I apologise.

Hi Everyone,
You may find the following information useful when contributing to this thread:

- Threads in the General Chat section of the forum do not appear in the Recent Posts list, so you may want to put the thread on Watch. You can do this by scrolling to the top of the page and looking at the line where the pages are listed. To the right, you will see a Watch Thread option. Click on it, and choose your preferred option when a new post is made (email and/or forum Alerts). That way you can keep up to date when new posts are made.
also
- Every thread, including threads in General Chat, are subject to the forum Ethos and Rules. This means that clique type behaviours, language and ‘us and them’ polarisation will be moderated the same as on any other thread. In the past we have had chat threads that have degenerated into small In Crowd groups being unwelcoming to newcomers, or snarking about events and people elsewhere on the forum. Hopefully this new thread will experience none of that. One way to keep this thread a friendly and welcoming place for everyone is to remember that anyone can see anything you say, whether they are logged into the forum or not, and that all rules on language and friendly support apply here as much as anywhere else on the forum.

Personally I cannot see the point in mixing up comments from people who have Insulin Dependent Type 1 Diabetes and those with Type 2 Diabetes. A case in point is reading on this forum a Type 2'er saying that they had had a bad Hypo and that they were sweating a bit and felt tingling in the fingers. I've had Type 1 for 65 years and in that time I've had more than my share of proper Hypoglycaemic attacks. Hypos that make you collapse and fall and go unconscious for 2-3 hours at a time and you are very lucky to wake up at all - particularly if you are on your own. Only other Type 1 ers will understand that scenario. Doing Clinitest wee tests; Glass syringes, boiling same; 9/10 blood tests a day; constant battles to keep your bloods not too high or too low and the worry that goes with that; counting carbs all the time; adjusting your insulin dose to match carbs; the worry of going hypo all the time- the list goes on and on.... That's why T1, should be seperate from Type 2,

How do you explain the conditions that are non diabetic and still have Hypoglycaemia?
And they are metabolic conditions.
Then there is the insulinoma and pancreatic conditions, that also have episodes of hypoglycaemia.
In a type 2, hypos occur when on meds such as glcizide, and some get hypos when they are on insulin and overdose.
Type 1 do get bad hypos.
And so did I.
For a period before diagnosis, I would continuously go hypo throughout the day and into the night. One of my texts recorded a very low, low. And I have been known to just go to sleep. This period I call my hypo hell.

And to finish, hypoglycaemia is common in children and also the symptoms are known to pregnancy and gestational diabetes.

Best wishes.

That would be the carbs the last few days....
No more carbs in the form of crusty sourdough bread (for a bit!)
Resting/sleeping/a bit of light technological work setting up Pixel 8.
Time to feed the beasties, then batten down the hatches...
Bought some nice food yesterday...
I found, that Pixel 8 had saved photographs when I had asked it not to during the set up. And, not only that, it had altered photo settings from do not back up photos, to back up all photos.
This caused a big problem.
An email from Google saying you won't be able to use gmail to send or receive because your storage is nearly full. But if you pay some money every month will let you have 100 GB of storage. I do not need more storage for things I'd probably would never find again that is why I don't save certain things...
So in between sleeping and waking, I have been deleting a load of stuff from Google Drive. I'm not giving them money so they can take a long walk on a short pier before they get that.

I now save any key photographs to a cloud app, that I've got.

I found that the pixel 8 settings have been altered for YouTube and YouTube music. I do not want these smart videos or smart downloads of YouTube music that I can watch it off-line or hear it off-line... it's useless to me. If I save anything, it's because I can hear it all I want to learn to listen to it not a whole pile of 100 random things, that I have no idea what they are. And they are filling my storage of my new pixel 8. So I have no storage space for any of my stuff...

So the frustrating thing is, I'm having now to delete all that stuff and reset the settings NOT to save. A load of unnecessary time that this has now wasted for me.. and it has reset my settings for my earlier pixel phones. So I have a lot of stuff to go through.

This pixel 8 phone is only 128 GB storage. I really wanted 256 for the way I use the phone... but I could not find a bargain 256 GB storage phone for the price I needed to pay... and so the last thing I needed was Google filling my phone and storage with rubbish. ...

Anyway, creative is some paintings I found in the so-called Google backup of photos. It was during Covid lockdowns I did these. And I think I used a YouTube painting video on how to paint with acrylics. There are a few of them so I will be using them for the next few days at least. ..

This particular painting was done in the early Covid lockdowns, and would have been on my pixel 3a, from the date, but the weird thing is it is not because I hardly have any photos on my pixel 3a and I have never backed them up to Google. It was not a phone I used for photographs.

Nor are these photos on my pixel 4a, which I used to transfer stuff to the pixel 8.

There is no lens information on many of them to say which of my devices took them. There are hundreds of these. I have deleted huge swathes of these photos without even looking at them, because it would simply me forever to look at each one. It broke my heart a bit, because Popeye was on a lot of them. I started looking through them but there was so many and I have saved a selection of Popeye's photographs from my iPad. It was as if I had never seen these photos before. And many of them were in the potting shed. So I simply picked a random couple of photos out of each batch of the photos of Popeye. And did a huge swathe deletion of 100 or more photographs in that batch...and so on. It would have been so easy to pay that money. Google wanted me to pay each month to keep all these, but I will never look at them again. There's too many.

So I am wondering now if Google saves all your deleted photos? Because something does not make sense here. I take so many photos that I do delete them as I go along because I cannot save them all. And I don't have time to go through all my photographs I have taken.

Mystery to me.

So, here is a blue tree for my creative!

I hope you had a good day.

Take care.

A winner for the lovely picture @gennepher. There isn't an emoji which adequately expresses the total nightmare that tech has caused you.

Hug and sympathy for tech Bros giving a "helping" hand. Thank you for sharing the creative which has all sorts in it for me including a fairy and Gandalf/Ganesha. I know, I know that is why you shouldn't do drugs kids.
I was going to just say fantastic picture @gennepher ...well done.

But now you guys have got me 'looking' IN the picture.

And my overriding vision is it's the moment before Kirk & the away team transport down to planet blue .

So thanks , now I'm wondering who dies, what alien type hottie Kirk makes love to & what wiseness Spock imparts to us all over it

So that's my night ruined .....:hilarious:

Good morning on a whistle down the wind start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.4 this am. Currently, and in this location at least, the wind is not particularly strong and hopefully those of you on this thread in the NW, NI, Wales and in Scotland are ready for what may come your way. We did plan on hunting the Cranachan today in readiness for tomorrow when strangely slurred words will be spoken during the sacrificing of a freshly caught haggis to the sound of gargling cats and all present will swear that they are chieftains of the pudding race, downing a dram of whisky whether they like it or not. Strange practices learned from Mrs Miggins whose family hail from north of the wall where the Wildings live. Art bit - some where to place a fence. Hope that your day is in the now, I shall make koffy.

We're not in the red zone but even so the wind has built up into quite a hooley. Blue sky with pink and grey clouds all fairly still in the sky at the moment.

Everything is closed here today - schools, council offices, gym, Tescos. However, I just had a message from Royal Mail promising to deliver a package today. I have my doubts about that. I hope not because it's Alistair who will be doing the delivering and it's getting a bit dangerous out there.

10.9 at 04.00 today. Down to 7.6 after a cup of tea and just before I changed my sensor.

Hope that Royal Mail takes the same sensible precautions. Nothing like a good cup of tea.

Hope everyone stays safe on this rather windy day. Not too bad here as it has only gone as high as 52mph and is now 48mph according to the MET office.

Picked up my new glasses from Specsavers. Really pleased with them. Especially as I got a second pair free.
,
A class member yesterday gave me some toys for Bonnie. She loves them - especially one of the teething bones.

She suddenly started being naughty yesterday - grabbing my trousers and jumper like a tug toy. She didn't do this to Mr K. It was an easy fix - bitter Apple spray. It immediately stopped her. No sure l particularly like the smell of Eau de Cologne Bitter Apple though.

Boiler has broken down at my venue for tonight. The timing couldn't be more perfect as daughter and family are arriving tonight so I will be here when they arrive. Also I won't be tired.

Morning all from a now calm and bright neither Sweet home Alabama nor Cambs .Actually, goodness knows quite how one could boosterise this town. Welcome @asanteza. @dunelm thank you for reminding me about Burns Night (hurried delivery booking for the morrow, no thanks M and S pork has no place in THAT dish) and sharing today's art. Not sure there were fences on the blasted heath in the Scottish play but I'll work with that as the scene. Was scene one Gordon's - expletives deleted - recipe for the big chief of the sausage clan? Alexa, turn on the instant pot. I couldn't initially make any sense of the string vest link, possibly because I could never make sense of that item. @Annb hug for the concern over how the storm may affect Alistair. Not sure if I just enjoy being a contrarian or if Traitors is just nonsense on stilts but I'd really rather not even be in the room when that is on, headphones or not'; your mileage may vary. The money for the hotel booking is still pending so can't yet be cancelled - that should please Elon - but we have booked another hotel whose IT system seems to be fit for purpose, facilities are more upmarket and include breakfast. JKP is a happier gel. I have so far managed not to say well, what do you expect if you use anything by Apple? Salmon salad day here which is apparently/allegedly good for Vitamins D and B12 but obviously if it ain't part of the (Tech) Brosphere it ain't real. Not sure when and how this Babylonian captivity ends but there's a nasty awakening coming for some and long overdue reckoning for others. Stay safe, look after Toto and enjoy Friday but be honest about things.
