Morning all on a brighter start to Back to School Tuesday here in L.A. We are promised a day of gentle breeze and highs of 17 degrees centigrade so I will probably only need two fleeces and 3 thermal vests until sundown when several more layers and blankets may be needed. I don't currently subscribe to the Testing Times so I know not of the fbg news in my immediate vicinity. @Annb good news on the blinds being fitted. @gennepher thank you for sharing the photo of the flowers. @Krystyna23040 enjoy the final day of your well deserved vacation. Have you ever tried relaxing with a coffee?, I've heard some people find it quite pleasurable - takes all sorts I suppose :D Take good care of yourself - the only form of 3 degrees I can tolerate happily is in song and as the man said .......

I really must try relaxing with a coffee :):) @ianpspurs.
Actually, I have probably done much too much relaxing with a coffee these last couple of weeks - but it has been lovely.

With regards to the weather - I have seem some people with short sleeve tops on. At the moment I have 2 thermal base layers on and a jumper, and when we nip out to get our Yeo Valley milk from Tesco I will add a fleece.

Blood test done. I think the people at the Health Centre had it in for the medical student allocated to take the blood from me. I am notorious, or rather my veins are, in the Highlands and Islands for being unco-operative. She found one in the back of my hand eventually and did manage to get right into it. Unfortunately, her PC wasn't working very well so she didn't know which tests she needed to take blood for. I told her it was for the diabetes nurse, so was probably just for HBa1c and that's what we went for - just one small tube of blood.

Eyes and legs are pretty bad today. Never mind - nothing else urgent to do so I can just put my legs up in the recliner chair and close my eyes....

fbs this morning was 9.6 but had already started my breakfast before I remembered! Just had a phone-call from the hospital making an appointment for a scan on Thursday followed by a consultation appointment the next day. Very quick response to the referral!

Kaleidoscope
A frustrating morning.
I’ve spent the rest of most of the day sleeping on and off—somewhere between sleep and stillness with watching my front garden. Just before the sun dropped away below the horizon, as I was feeding the stray cats and locking up, I caught the light on my kale tree and I opened Laboscope (Kaleidoscope app), and took this pic. The kale tree is taller than my garage. I have several of them now. Plenty of green vegetable for me! This image captures my day - too tangled and frustrating to explain now, but this is today’s picture....make of it as you will.

Night night

Sweet dreams

6.4 this morning.

Off to classes shortly at one of our local villages. So not too far to travel. Bonnie is coming with us and we will walk around the park behind the village hall before she does her meet and greet with the class.

Yesterday we sorted out a new doorbell camera. Took ages to do but it is now up and running.

8.5 at 04.45 today. That's because my BG was pretty low before bed so I remedied that situation because I'm depending on finger pricking at the moment so would get no warning of dropping too low. Perhaps over-remedied.

I've stopped using tea bags - something in them (not the tea) makes my BG go too high. Now I am using loose tea, which is a bit of a faff, but my BG stays where it is. Same with coffee (never tried coffee bags but coffee doesn't affect my BG). According to the nurse, I shouldn't be drinking anything with caffeine in it, so it should be decaf coffee and decaf tea. It isn't. I don't use decaf coffee and, at present, I can't get decaf loose tea. I looked online for it but it is very expensive buying it that way.

Someone on the "What have you eaten..." forum said that tea bags actually contain a tiny amount of sugar. Not sure if that is the case with the bags I've been buying but something in them seems to have an undeclared carb content. Maybe something in the manufacture of the paper.

Morning all on a damp start to COVID jab day here in L.A. Back to School Tuesday came and went but as it is nearly May exam season must be upon us. Thoughts and prayers with those feeling the pressure, especially those feeling left behind already, as well as parents and grandparents worried over their loved ones. @gennepher thank you for the mysterious kaleidoscope and a hug for the frustrating morning meaning you slept so much. Eek out as much joy as you can today.

Good morning everyone on a fabulously quiet start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north.
5.8 this a.m.
After a trip over to see my mother, Mrs Miggins and I seem to have been on the go non stop. She was over in Ireland with her sister, visiting relatives and mucking about on boats near Cork (best headline in the local paper: Cork man drowns). I was in Sherwood Forest with youngest son. Now, just back from a full on few days with three of our grandchildren - we need a rest. But not for long as The Girl In The Bubble will be round tomorrow afternoon.
Today - plants need watering and there was mention of a walk into town.
Art bit - I need to catch up with that.
Hope you are as well as you can be on this St George’s Day. I hear that Trumpty Dumpty is trying for that posh job in Rome so that he can bring back indulgences and MVGA - Make the Vatican Great Again.

My cleaner went off sick about 3 months ago (she injured her back while working as a home carer) and today she phoned to say that she won't be either going back to her caring job with the council or doing her private cleaning jobs. Her back isn't getting better and won't until she comes to the top of the list for surgery. She is in agony all the time she isn't almost unconscious due to the drugs she's taking. She has decided to move away from the Island to be close to her mother and father so that she can have help when needed with the children. Nothing really to keep her here anyway, now that she is divorced.

Can't say that I blame her. It does leave me with the issue of keeping my house clean - not many people willing to take the work on. However, Neil says that he can do it every so often and I will try to keep it going in between times. The house won't be as clean as she used to keep it for me, but we'll survive. I feel so sorry for her being in what sounds like awful pain, with no sign of it ending.

fbs this morning was 11.1! Not good! Several hours of pain during the night but paracetamols have helped. Antibiotics now finished. Feeling very lazy today. Blue skies this morning, birds flying to and from their nests in the trees behind the house and a blossoming garden are all here to lift one's spirits. Best wishes to you all. :)

Sad when back damage occurs - quite debilitating and hope she gets some good treatment.
I go with Quentin Crisp on the cleaning thing - you just have to hold your nerve.
Mrs Miggins however has a different opinion so I leave these things in her capable hands.
Now, wonder where she tidied up that loose change that I left on my dresser top.

I nearly gave you a hug but no. A winner for those uplifting observations.
