What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Fbg 6.5

At last the weather is getting a bit cooler. I am absolutely no good in this humid hot weather.....

Another painting found while tidying up...
I very much enjoyed doing these encaustic paintings...

Midnight is still sleeping on the swing... he won't sleep in doors this hot weather in fact won't even come indoors...Merlin doesn't like being indoors much either and sleeps on top of the cover I made for on top of the Rose arch. It doesn't have roses on it, but it's where I hang the recycle bags away from the badgers, and to stop them getting wet. I put a cover on.... and Merlin thinks it's his sleeping place...

Time to go to sleep now...

Night night...

6.5 this morning. Not sure why it was higher because I only had 14 carbs and 1K calories. Fbs is often quite puzzling as I thought it should have been in the 5s

Was happy though that I lost a little more weight. Am now down to 9st 9lbs. Just 2 more lbs to go and I am back to normal weight.

US liver scan this afternoon. Neil says the car will be alright to make that journey - only 7 miles each way, so it's all systems go!

BG 4.7 at 03.40 today. Up to 8.9 after coffees and breakfast, but I daresay it will go down fairly soon.

What do we think about supplements (pills)? My brother and SIL are recommending Vit D3 to try to help with inflammation, which does seem to be a major issue with me. I've never been a great one for taking supplements, thinking that good food should be enough. Not so sure now though what with diabetes, arthritis, liver and kidney problems, very delicate digestive system, inflamed gums, etc. All associated with inflammation. But if I start with Vit D, would I be then needing some other vits/minerals? How many pills would I end up with to add to the pharmacy drawer in my kitchen?

Hopefully once again Neil is right and the car makes the round trip and the ultra sound scan is helpful. Interesting question about supplements and a real minefield over what counts as good food in this brave new world of (very) alternative facts. I hope the day goes well and you can settle your own mind over supplements.

7.5 have had stressful few hours babysitting #7 & #8 for dad had his driving lessons.
We played school as #8 is looking forward to starting in September.
#7 was the teacher. Cooked bacon butties (#8 favourite at the moment) no bread for me. It was Brown batch actually.
Mrs L stayed in bed. But still got plenty of attention. Having a nap now.
Intermittent raining, cloudy and too cool for this time of year, sorry @gennepher, need to spend time in the gardens and I prefer warmer weather. Our central heating came on overnight!

Supplements @Annb, I tend to argue against taking them as I have been told repeatedly when I asked about them.
Unless you have a deficiency in your blood such as vitamin D, as I have in previous winters. You should not need them. Indeed, if you take a supplement that is not necessary, you are having too much in your blood, don't you? And too much, is just the same as too little.
Your body is usually good at regulating a balance of vitamins and supplements.
Your blood tests you have every year, should show if you need them.
It is very similar to over medicating.

Have a lovely Tuesday afternoon and evening.
Best wishes.

@Annb I take VitD3. It's the only "medication" I use, vitD3 helps to support the immune system, so may well help with inflammation.
I have also found it very helpful for emotional stability as it is known to help prevent depression. Something I have struggled with all my life.
VitaminD3 is also helpful with calcium uptake into the bones. As so many are I am st risk of oesteo arthritis and brittle bones, so another reason for my daily pill.
The doctor prescribed a massive dose dissolved in oil once a month, but since benefits seemed to fade away towards the end of the month, have switched to a daily pill.

Oops I seem to have neglected to send my post earlier. :banghead:
Anyway I am back home now waiting for the effect of 9 injections to wear off! Soft food for tea I reckon! LOL I hope you all had a decent day and continue to enjoy your evening. Best wishes :)

Fbg 6.4 for Tues 22 July

For my Creative...A web... one of my encaustic paintings, I just found, while tidying up... I was trying to see if I could do a spiderweb and it wasn't easy so I only ever did that one....
Stay too hot for me... the temperature is still around 24 C here in the day... so I am not getting as much done as I need to...

Night night
Sweet dreams

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny start here in SW France where internet connections work a frequently as builders when the week is full of Saint days and Pont days.
No blood letting this week - the Gom Jabbar was left at home.
Last full day here before returning to the UK.
Great time with mum. New game - list a few musicians, singers, bands that you would like to see at a concert and then find videos of them on YouTube and enjoy the show!
Found a Tangram game with black tiles cleaning out a cupboard so we set about trying to make the shapes - what fun!
Art bit - we have been playing with inks, water and bleach. Mum has recently bought a glass dip pen so might have a go with that today.
hope you are all as well as well can be. I best make some koffee.

This bleach painting is great.... @dunelm
That glass pen sounds fantastic. I have two of them and I carefully put them in the box with Cotton wool when I have finished with them to protect that tip.

I'd be interested to see the result, if possible. DIL bought one for me some time ago but I've never really been sure how to use it.

Less than a month before we have visitors. The situation is getting worse rather than better. Or at least it feels that way. Last week MrSlim and HH excavated around the cellar air vent. Which is actually a blocked up window. Dug down about a metre and used breeze blocks, render and bitumen to make a waterproof wall. It worked as far as it went. However, the lower, unmodified part of the blocked up window continues to let in the water through the degraded cement. Which was already starting to wash out during the last downpour. So to me it all needs to come out AGAIN and be redone to the full extent of the ex-wndow. You can imagine how popular that opinion is. I suspect it will be a job for the autumn, if it ever gets done.
Then there is the beautiful shiny kitchen floor. The top layer of varnish has started to peel off. Wrong product used. So need to get it all off before it can be redone. It's very slow work. With a stiff bristle hand brush. Unfortunately have discovered it's at least two layers that need to come off. More work and time.
While waiting for the worktops to arrive MrSlim has been working on the shower room upstairs. It's having a new toilet and washbasin as well as a different configuration to allow a small sitting area adjacent to the balcony. We were not happy with balcony access only from the shower room. This involves blocking up the two doors to the landing, making it an ensuite, and rerouting the piping and soil stack. Oh and a new floor to replace the badly wormeaten one that was existing under the mouldy carpet. ( long since gone to the tip)
So currently shower is upstairs, toilet and washbasin are downstairs in the utility room.
We still have no useable kitchen. That has sctually got further away with the floor needing refinishing. Living room is upstairs in what will be the master bedroom with ensuite. Where our guests are to sleep. The downstairs salon, id full of stuff: furniture, flatpacked kitchen, Other boxes, and even if we emptied it is unusable without considerable work to make it safe to occupy. Because of the poor condition asbestos panelling with flaking paint and on top of that the wiring was so unsafe that it had to be disconnected and there isn't even a light. Am trying to remain positive, but the amount t that needs doing feels impossible in the available time.

In one house I lived in, @SlimLizzy the cellar which I stored stuff in, filled up completely with water at spring tides or very high tides etc.
So that was one useless cellar.
Builders tried to offer solutions which were costly, and I said just order a lorry load of cement and pour it in and completely seal it off.... Problem solved...

A good solution for you, but our boiler and hot water cylinder are down there, so not practical here.

Hug for all the frustration and hard work needing to be done. You are right that the work around the cellar air vent needs to be done properly, but can't that be put out of mind for now, being less urgent than the rest of the house? Does the kitchen floor need to be done with a hand brush? I have a rechargeable battery operated scrubbing brush with a long handle - very stiff and effective. It's not meant for commercial or heavy building use, of course, but something like it might make the job easier. The rest, is still a daunting task, but surely your guests know the situation and will be understanding of the hardships you are suffering.

Good morning all. fbs today was 8.3. Not too bad considering I had a small portion of buttered mashed potato with my flaked fresh salmon and soft broccoli for tea last evening due to the after effects of my dental visit. I had a lie -in this morning but will be off soon for the second group walk of the week. Cooler and cloudy today but no rain is forecast. At the week-end we will be going to visit the Severn Valley Railway in Kidderminster for a ride on a train pulled the Flying Scotsman. We had arranged a similar visit in the past but it was cancelled due to the Covid outbreak. Best wishes for today. :)

7.7 on a very busy frustrating day.
And Mrs L is not helping at all.
Daughter and grandkids been and gone, dropped off new garden furniture, which you could sleep outside on (or indoors, I suppose!)
Lots of chores done and garden shed reorganised.
It is a nice day, quite warm, but quite windy.
At least the kids can get out.
Lots of bulbs pulled as per order from DiL.
Cricket is interesting, I have watched about ten minutes........
Gonna sit in my new relaxation sun chair with the shade up in a few minutes.
Gonna have to get rid of lots of cardboard........
Local salvation army has done well from my wardrobe.... Shocking what you horde!
My best wishes.
Keep safe you lot.
