What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning all from a sunny - for now - L.A. My fbg yesterday was 4.8 as measured by the labs at CUH. I was not an inpatient it is just one of the three part pre-consultation process. @Annb hugs for all your pain and the watch issue. @alf_Josiah and @Krystyna23040 thank you both for the PMs asking after me. @Lamont D hugs for all your stress caring for Mrs L. @dunelm enjoy the market and especially the time with your grandchildren. I will probably order a Libre sensor so I will post for a few days rather than just lurk. @jjraak and @Lamont D thank you for your concern over Totteringham. Have a sonnet. Is there a garage on the way to market for a card and 4 million lumens torch @dunelm? Moscow, Ho Ho Ho Lympics and rugby to watch. God be with you all.
Thank you @ianpspurs, good to read your post.
Market is just a 15 walk away so thankfully no cards - we keep away from such things at this time of year and Mrs Miggins has enough supplies of lumens in the form of garden lights to supply every working lighthouse in the UK and perhaps beyond.

This is eerily close to a couple I know well. What potion or hypnosis did you use on Mrs Miggins? For most men hell hath no fury ......

Feeling as though I'm going back downhill healthwise. Very cold, but temp is almost normal, left hand and arm very sore again and right arm joining in. Drinking water to combat nausea. Maybe just take some painkillers and go for a sleep and see if it improves.

Talking to my SIL yesterday (my husband's sister). She is an invalid who has home carers coming in twice a day to transfer her from bed to chair and then later from chair to bed again. Yesterday, they managed to attach the hoist wrongly and dropped her onto the floor. Luckily nothing was broken but she is covered in bruises. It caused quite a fuss, with managers coming in to investigate how it happened. Her granddaughter (a police sergeant) also came in and rather unnerved all and sundry with the number of questions she wanted answers to. Anyway, SIL was telling me that she also has discs in her neck which are worn causing the same trouble that affect both Neil and Alistair, as has one of her daughters (and even the policewoman has something similar developing). My husband also had something similar, as part of a much more widespread spinal problem. There must be some sort of weakness in that side of the family which is a precursor to this condition.

Shocked yesterday to hear that a dear family friend who was working for a charity in Tanzania, died. He was a good few years younger than me. No idea yet what happened, but it was sudden and totally unexpected.
FBG 7.7 ...I am glad that managers came in to investigate it is appalling that they attached the hoist wrongly ...I have been hoisting patients for over 35 yrs and have never seen or heard of that happening . I hope she is ok and not too nervous about being hoisted now .

Lovely to see you posting here @ianpspurs. I am really envious of your fbg.
Mine was 5.8 today

5.8 before cooked breakfast of egg, sausage, bacon, mushrooms, and my Sunday treat of real bread, fried in the bacon fat. Copious quantities of black coffee.
Love the sabbath. Family time.

That sounds scrumptious, @Pipp

Enjoy the family time as the good lord provides.

Long may such times be enjoyed.

8.8 at 04.20 today.

Bad night - left shoulder and hand very painful again. Tried sleeping on my right side, but couldn't get to sleep. Gave up at 04.00, took painkillers and slept in the big chair until 08.45.

Bright sunshine here today. Been turfing out leather goods - gloves, purses, wallets. All had gone mouldy stuck away in the back of a cupboard. Neil managed to salvage some of the gloves, 2 wallets and a purse. That gives me 3 pairs of gloves (too small for my hands now), one wallet and a purse to send to the charity shop. One old fashioned wallet I am keeping because it has some papers in it which have information about Tom, one pair of gloves, which were Tom's but they actually go onto my hands now. Can't put these things back into the cupboard - they'll only go mouldy again. That's despite dehydration thingies in all the cupboards. Some just went into the bin - metal and nylon zips and catches mean they can't go into the recycling.

5.9 this morning.

It has been snowing quite heavily since late morning but I don't think it will continue for much longer.

Half term starts on Monday, which means I can catch up with everything.

I have had such a relaxing day so far, and the relaxing will definitely continue.

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentleman and those competing in the Winter Olympics, please stay warm.

Blood sugars this Sunday were 12.? , I can’t remember now, do I care, if you know please don’t let me know. :-)

We had one of those messages this morning, that sometimes grandparents dread “ Please can you have the other two grandchildren as well as ….”

This morning became a home for turmoil. Now things are peaceful, the grandchildren have returned from whence they came and Mrs J is sleeping, no music is being played silence is golden.
I miss the little and not so little grandchildren already .

Stay safe, stay warm.

Was not sure if I should post this.
Please don't read this if you are about to eat.

My head has healed beautifully after my encounter with black ice.

At last today the scab fell off. It dropped on the floor and before I could grab it Bonnie snatched it and ate it. That is so gross. It surely couldn't have tasted very nice.

I hope Bonnie is a pet, not a human.

My sabbath is not the sort of Sabbath I experienced as a child, which had church in the morning, and Sunday School in the afternoon, with not much other activity at all. Winter Sundays were filled with boredom. With cold dark days, and not much to entertain children, except books and imagination.

These days my sabbaths have a small s. More of a break from the routine of the week. Rest from business, and all life’s mundane things. Enjoy spending time with important people . Nearest and dearest.

My friend’s cat pounced on baby’s umbilical chord when it dropped off, and swallowed it, before she could retrieve it.

I do believe cats would eat a whole human if they were big enough.

Recycling day today - I'm never sure where all the recycling stuff comes from - our bin is always full. I know we get lots of deliveries from online sources, so there's plenty of cardboard, but that doesn't go into the bin - we have to get that taken to the recycling plant separately - what goes into the recycling bin is all the paper packaging that comes in the boxes, plus, of course milk bottles, etc. I think it breeds in the bin.

Good morning everyone from a surprisingly quiet start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north.
5.4 this a.m. weighed on the scales of Thoth - hard luck mate, not dead yet!
Welly boots yesterday with the grandchildren; down through the muddy paths in the woods to the sea and along the beach. Washing welly boots in the sea, up the cliff path.
Called in to Ye Olde Sweet Shoppe - we should revive the thorn - Jonathon Ross might make good use of it.
Little Miss Pamplemouse (age 10) is doing an hour each day in preparation for her SATs - we did fractions yesterday and percentages of amounts - what fun!
Today is not planned - it’s all in the hands of the efforts of the rain dancers.
Hope your day wafts along splendidly. I just need to placate a couple of whining knees and then as long as my fingers don’t go on strike at crucial moments like they did yesterday, make some koffy. Some parts of this body will be on the naught step if they don’t cooperate .
