This has NOTHING to do with Diabetes......

Harry Redknapp was saying on the radio earlier that England should be striving to play like Liverpool and Everton have done last season.
lol! Who? (see - it's at times like this when I become a gooner for a couple of minutes)

Lol!
This a football thread, start your own Trek thread and I'll join you, especially about the direction that J.J. Abrams has took the franchise!

I was out with friends so didn't watch the game but it's all so familiar. Chile would have known what to do about Pirlo last weekend, England seem to have the mentality that because the Premier League is possibly the best in the world, and because the players earn so much that it therefore follows that the national side will be good. Ever since Ramsey England players have had the flair coached out of them in favour of work rate - but that's no good if you can't do the basics consistently.

Things won't change much while PL sides are dominated by foreign players, young English talent has too little opportunity to develop.

Opportunity to now to start afresh in the Euro qualifiers, but will anything really change?
There is English talented players out there, but it is easier to buy a foreigner, then the progress will always be stymied.
Five years ago, most premiership clubs had lots of non british youth players, there has been a reverse. I watched what is called the mini derby on sky and both team combined only played 5 non british players and it was a great game of football. The FA, media, press and the premiership will only consider players unless you play for the top six clubs. There is better quality than that,, but it just seems to me that the powers that be are terrified of playing someone outside of the top clubs. Three lads got in the England squad from Southampton from the team that did so well in the premiership, but they never got in the starting line up.(I know that Jay got injured).
Didn't the under 19s just win the European championship, the under 21s is full of promise and the talent is there! But can it be me that thinks there is a hidden agenda in who plays etc.
Would Henderson get in the team if he was playing for Sunderland? Would Johnson be playing if he was playing for any other club than Liverpool etc.?

There is definitely a tendency to assume that all the players in a successful club side are better just because they are in that side. Not always the case, agreed.

I have posted a football themed reply in 'according to my consultant' thread. I would cut and paste, but I'm ancient, and not tech enough to do it please read!
I see your Emile Heskey and raise you a Carlton Palmer

The problem seems to be living on Islands ?
Japan, Australia, and now England ? :D

(Ok Jack 412 im waiting for the Chirp ?)

Italy are playing a 4-1-4-1 and very narrow, Costa Rica are playing a very Italian looking 5-3-2 or at times when wing backs are up a 3-5-2. Even though they are playing with three CBs they are trying to play a high line!

Is Pirlo even on the pitch?? Italy looking very ordinary for the first half hour and only just coming into it now, I agree, far too narrow

Oh for goodness sake! 1-0 to Costa Rica! Really! They're such a bunch of cheaters too! Grrr!
