Julifriend, you always quietly get on with the challenge, and I feel humbled by your way of stating what you are achieving without the sort of dramatic irony usually coming from me.
Something to aspire to.
Thank you.

I'm very fortunate that I have no other health issues that would prevent me from exercising on a daily basis. I know it's what I need to do to try and keep the complications at bay and so have just accepted it's part of my life from now on. For many years I went to a gym a couple of times a week but really didn't enjoy the exercise. I also tried swimming lengths in the pool but it bored me rigid. When I walk I can either just take in the sounds and views that are around me, or i can put my headphones in and listen to music. As long as my feet don't hurt and it doesn't rain too hard then I'm pretty content with walking as my preferred form of exercise.

That is good, it is just as important to get the relaxation element right too.
I used to love to roam in the hills and take in the sights sounds and smells, and the changing seasons. Don't think I am a 'townie' at heart.

That avatar makes my wife cry when she sees it.

Back home from Cote d'Ivoire after a fairly torrid journey of about 28 hours including no more than 3 hours of fitful sleep on the plane. Started off OK, 3 1/2 hours drive to Abidjan, plenty of time for flight, nice airport, even a decent airside restaurant and had a chicken kebab, tomato and leaf salad and pepper sauce.

Then the flight was delayed for 2 hours because of a 'technical problem' inbound via Monrovia - flickering cabin lights (!) - and we didn't leave Abidjan until 1:30 in the morning. Full flight, not much sleep, but the worst thing was missing our connection to Heathrow in Brussels. They couldn't get us on the next flight because it was full and they had to prioritise passengers who had onward transatlantic flights from London, which is reasonable of course, but it meant we had 6 hours overlay in Brussels. As you can imagine pretty much the only food you can get airside in Brussels consists of pastry and/or chocolate, but outside security there were some fast food places where you could get a half-decent cheeseburger - left the bun but I did have a few chips.

When we did get to Heathrow about 4 yesterday afternoon we hit the delays caused by the new security ramp-up, then it was a rush on Heathrow Express to get to Paddington for a train back to Devon. Got home in time for a quick meal and the second half of the World Cup final.

I would have stayed in bed this morning but brilliantly I had an appointment at 8:30 for my first set of blood tests (hence the quick dinner to get 11 hours of fasting in) since diagnosis! Needless to say my fasting levels are haywire at the moment but that shouldn't affect the HbA1c. On the up side I've lost another 1.2 kg in the last 10 days - no doubt the tramping miles in airport terminals has helped there.

Not planning on doing much else today, especially not work. I'll do a bit on the rower, doze and catch up on the Tour de France highlights and the Archers Omnibus!

Had a lovely 50 mins in the pool. It was busy, but everyone was considerate and gave each other space. Swam 25 mins then the last 25 mins moved about in the deep water doing star jumps, water running, crunches and such like. Must look a bit weird but I don't care. Trying to redeem myself after two weeks of slob like eating on hol.
Walked for 10 mins too.

OK, I'm just checking in. Haven't exactly done a lot of exercise since Jamrox went away 'cos my head's been all over the place. Did a 5 min walk today but that's all.....at least I'm owning up to being a lazy cow so that has to count for something???? No? OK I'll try harder tomoz.

Doesn't beating yourself up count as exercise too?

...bit of an eventful weekend for you then sanguine, to say the least....you're allowed a 'leave of absence ' note for today then!

....40 minutes walk at lunchtime today, just the Monday usual, and 10 mins twistboarding this evening...

I did actually get a 30 minute walk in to and from the surgery for my blood tests, and 10 minutes on the rower - a bit faster than usual because I was angry about something! Oh and a minute's 'plank' this morning.

I've just completed a 4k walk around my town, in 40 minutes. It rained persistently all the way ... Except for the last 25 metres!!! I'm very wet!!!

Eeewww, poor @peacetrain . I hate getting wet, except in the swimming pool. Very impressed with your dedication to the task.

Maybe you should just have done the last 25 metres 160 times ... :D
