    Creon

I've been taking Creon for a few years and have had no problem.

    CGM and your experience

Freestyle Libre, first a Libre 1 and more recently Libre 2 made an unbelievable improvement to my management of my diabetes. I can now see pretty clearly how my insulin-carb regimen impacts on my glucose level and learn (usually) from my mistakes. The alarm facility is particularly useful for...

    Diet that works with 3c

As @Antje77 has suggested it would quite possibly worth thinking about Creon capsules. If your pancreas is damaged it will probably not be producing the digestive enzymes needed to process your food. It would be well worth having a word with your medical team about this. See...

    Oldvatr; sad news.

So terribly sad and unexpected news. Mike added tremendously to my understanding of diabetes and his wise observations will be missed by all of us.

Freestyle Libre 2 - constant false signal loss alarms

The alarms work well, all you need to do is set them to the levels you would like and this is easily done via the 'settings' button on the reader.

What is the culprit ? Porridge or Rice Cakes?

I'm on insulin and have a pretty good idea as to how much of a bolus I require with my normal breakfast of microwaved porridge oats. However if I add blueberries or apple or both I need to increase my bolus by about one unit. Blueberries have the higest carb content of all the berries at 12g CHO...

    Car hypo treatment

I carry a bottle of "Lift" glucose juice in the car, it's 15g of carbs which is equal to 3 jelly babies and I usually also carry a banana to provide some slightly slower acting carbs. As has already been said, chocolate is very slow acting and too slow to fix an imminent hypo. Lucozade Sport is...

    Starting insulin

It honestly doesn't hurt at all, in fact most of the time you won't even be sure you've got the needle inserted.

    Forum nominations 2023

My thanks for the nomination but I regret I must decline as I'm involved with a committee that reviews documents issued to diabetics and proposals for research projects and this takes up a fair bit of my free time.

    Libre

Phone Abbot on 0800 170 1177, this is very much easier than filling a form via an online link. You'll be asked afew questions and should receive a new sensor within about a week. I'm quite fortunate as my surgery issues me with 4 sensors at a time subject to 26 sensors in a year, so I've always...

Type 3c - how many are we?

I've no idea if Covid could cause you to develop T3c, but I doubt it. The difference between T1 and T3c is that with T1 the panceas produces no insulin whereas T3c it produces some, but not enough. If you've had a C-Pepetide test it should have confirmed how much or how little insulin your...

Type 1 Disposal of Free style libre 2 sensors and applicator

Chance of a needle-stick injury from a sensor filament is virtually nil and the chance of anyone getting stabbed by the needle in an applicator, particularly if it has been screwed back into the container is zero too. Mine all go into general waste destined for landfill.

    Measuring Blood Sugars

I tend to aim for 1hr and 2hrs as it gives me a good indication as to how the insulin (and food) has impacted. However as JCBBFC27 has said 2 hrs if fine.

explaining what it's really like to live with Type 1

It is a bit of a pain in the bum, or tum, depending on where one injects ;) and having constantly to be thinking about carb intake and how many units to inject. It's just a way of life - and hopefully a long one. I get really fed up at times, but keep myself motivated by looking at my time in...

Freestyle libre is soooo much sharper

Looks like a faulty applicator as that needle should have retracted when you applied the sensor.
