    Accuchek mobile/mySugr/wireless adapter

I received my wireless adaptor this morning. It’s a little bulky, but it still fits in the case. It’s actually a pretty neat little gizmo, once connected you just press the button on the adapter after testing, and it sends the reading straight to the app in my phone.

    Why can't t2 get a meters n test strips?

Some do some don't, it can be a bit of a postcode lottery. Most type 2's who get them on prescription do so because they are on tablets that are more likely to cause hypos, and are generally only prescribed enough to test occasionally. So enough to test if you feel low. Most type 2's don't need...

    Testing

It depends on the tablets. I was given a meter when put on gliclazide as that can lower your bg quickly so i was given a meter to test for hypos. If its metformin alone, you may struggle to get anything from your gp. As for testing, it depends what you are testing for. If you want to eat to your...

    BG Meters

I have a freestyle lite and a freestyle optium neo. Both read the same. Have you tried using control solution? It should tell which one isnt reading correctly. You can usually get it free from your meter manufacturer.

    Eye sight

The diabetic eye screening depends where you live. My area runs a clinic at the hospital so no need for pin numbers etc. As for the bluriness, totally normal and it should go in a few weeks. Its a side effect of decreasing sugar levels. I was advised not to go for my usual annual eye test (not...

When do they start you on insulin?

    Testing strips

I changed meter last month and got given the wrong strips. If they were wrong on the prescription, your gp can reissue the prescription. If the chemist gave you the wrong strips, they will have to reissue them. Id go back to the chemist and ask them to double check the prescription and see where...

    Now switched to Humulin Kwikpen.

I use Humulin kwikpen. Your morning readings sound low. How often do you use it? Id definitely mention it to the nurse as it might need adjusting. If its just the night dose they can change that. I was told the night dose affects breakfast readings. I take it before breakfast and before dinner...

When do they start you on insulin?

I was started on insulin when all tablet and non insulin injections stopped working. Even on insulin my levels are high. Last night were so high my meter couldnt take the reading. Its a slow process. I was diagnosed type 2 about 2 years ago and started on insulin a short while ago. I dont eat a...

IF I was to test once a day

It really depends what you want to test for. If you just want to keep a general check then i find the best time is pre breakfast. If you want to check how certain foods affect your bg levels then 2 hours after eating. If you are detecting hypos, test when you feel low. Testing shouldnt hurt at...

How Many of You With Type 2 Have ...

But its not the cause of all type 2. Im type 2. every adult in my family is type 2, both my parents, all aunts and uncles etc. Of all shapes and sizes. My family are all military so lack of exercise and poor diet was never a factor there! My husband is type 2 also, and his was caused by steroid...

    Eye tests

I get my annual eyetests done at the opticians and my retinal screening at the hospital. I was told the retinal photography at the opticians is not nearly detailed enough for diabetics! And that was from the opticians themselves. As for a diabetic register, ive never heard of that. But diabetics...

    When to go on Insulin?

I tried various combinations of metformin, sitagliptin, gliclazide, byetta and victoza before i ended up on insulin. There are many additions to metformin, your gp or dsn can give you the best advice.
