What is a ‘normal’ HbA1c reading?

Hi I have just had my diabetic check and my HbA1c reading was 41 (I’m happy and work hard on that). I was told by the Diabetic nurse that this was pre-diabetes and that the pre-diabetes range for a T2 diabetic is 37-42. Has anyone else heard that? The Diabetes UK website says normal is below...

Hi all. I'm Chris. I and 49 and was diagnosed two years ago with T2 diabetes. It came to light when I collapsed with what turned out to be a pulmonary embolism (blood clots on lungs) caused by a DVT in my calf, which was in turn caused by an undiagnosed bowel cancer. I had sky-high blood...

Does high red blood count affect hbA1C

Hi All, Just got a1c results and they were higher than expected. I use a CPAP machine and have an abnormally high haemoglobin count due this. As its the glycated haemoglobin that is measured to get the hbA1C, I wonder if anyone knows how a high haemoglobin count might affect the hba1c result.

    Hazard Ratios for Diabetes Complications

I didn't realise that the Hazard Ratios were so bad even in the 'pre-diabetic' region of the HbA1C levels. Note that the HbA1C's are shown measured in % (i.e. old style). https://twitter.com/DikemanDave/status/1274583863570755585...

    hba1c prep

Apologies for a longish post: I've been concerned about possible pancreas/gallbladder liver issues for a while because of rib pain; I went to see the doctor a couple of months ago and he diagnosed me with rib inflammation, said my liver and gall bladder seemed ok, but suggested I come back to...

Blood Sugar Realities: How Good Are Your Sugars?

Hi all, I'm relatively new to the forum, although I've been checking in on-and-off over the last years to check a handful of specific threads. I'm 23 years old and was diagnosed with T1 at the age of 4. Until around 13-14 years old, my sugars were managed well I'd say. As I moved into high...

    Good news are always welcome

3 months have passed since my diagnosis. I was admitted to the hospital with an astonishing 14.3% HbA1C. I had a new blood test last week, I received the results, and my A1C is 5.9%, which is - I would say - beyond perfect. I hope I can keep this value for a long time! Cheers!
