Hi all,
I'm relatively new to the forum, although I've been checking in on-and-off over the last years to check a handful of specific threads.
I'm 23 years old and was diagnosed with T1 at the age of 4. Until around 13-14 years old, my sugars were managed well I'd say. As I moved into high...
3 months have passed since my diagnosis. I was admitted to the hospital with an astonishing 14.3% HbA1C. I had a new blood test last week, I received the results, and my A1C is 5.9%, which is - I would say - beyond perfect. I hope I can keep this value for a long time!
Cheers!
I'm trying to work out the best diet to use to deal with type 2. currently not on meds and keeping well controlled with lots of exercise mainly. I read a lot about claims of diabetes reversal / cure / remission by following a keto or low carb diet but they seem to only use fasting glucose or...
Hello all,
I guess I never got to properly introduce myself, but thought, after my last HbA1C, this would be a good opportunity to share my story for others.
I was diagnosed with Diabetes back in August 2019 and have since then followed a LCHF diet (almost hitting keto ranges at times, but not...
Hello,
My hba1c was 62 in August and its come back at 59.
I know, it's a improvement but I have been testing my blood sugars and it doesn't add up.
59 means I would have been hoovering around 9.5 I dont know anymore I guess I'll see what its like in February.
Hi,
I have recently been diagnosed with high HbA1c (8%) and i am very anxious.
My doctor recommended to start taking a pill for 3 months, and then check if the levels of HbA1c improved.
I am sceptical about the medication, as i usually avoid it.
Looking for alternatives on the web, i found...
Hello All,

He has been Diabetic for 5/6years and to this date still cannot get his HBA1C to come down. He is 33yrs old, vegetarian and lives a pretty...
Hi, this is my first post and I'm not used to forums, but here goes anyway! I'm here because my husband has recently been diagnosed with Type 2. We bought a BG monitor even though it was not even mentioned by the Diabetic Nurse (I have read enough posts to understand why!). So far his readings...
I was diagnosed as type 2 in 2015 and have been unmedicated for my diabetes so far. I have several other health issues which I take both prescription meds and complimentary/supplements for.
Anyway, I've just had my annual review and blood test and will be seeing the DSN on Tuesday (today). I...
Its world diabetes day on 14th November.
It seems a good day to highlight to the powers that be that:
1) current t2d guidelines are wrong
2) we need to be offered blood glucose monitors (what is measured can be managed)
It seems the majority of us coming to this site (and many others) are...
Hi all.
So I was only diagnosed with type 1 on the 1st August 19 so this is all very new to me. After 4 weeks of being diagnosed I got my hba1c down from 99 to 79.. then I found out I'm pregnant!
I'm roughly around 6 weeks and managed to get my hba1c to 61 but I keep being told that...
Over three years I have managed to reduce my Hba1c from 88 to 34. After my last visit to the doctor I was told that my Metformin dose was being reduced from 2 x 500mg a day to just one. The reason given and I quote "We don't like people with type 2 diabetes going to low with their Hba1c" is this...
On 30 April they did my first blood glucose test. As a result of that test, The doctor diagnosed me with severe Type 2 Diabetes as the HBA1C read 14.3. That is where my journey commenced. One of the first places I turned to was Diabetes UK because with respect to the efforts of the Canadian...
so today I went for my first blood test since being diagnosed 3 months ago .
The nurse was lovely she asked how my weight loss has been going which I told her is fantastic, she checked my blood pressure and said the top number was perfect but the bottom number is just a tiny bit high.
So I...
I've always struggled with accepting my condition ever since I was diagnosed and I've had some awful experiences with my medical team which have furthered these negativities. I thought I had conquered this in achieving a Hba1c of 44 but went off the rails again and my Hba1c is back up at 103...
I have now published an update on the following which includes some corrected medical info and can be found here

A big "Thank You" to those who host/run the Low Carb community forum and to all those on the forum who have helped me personally with advice...
I've been doing keto since mid January and have been pretty strict with it. At first the weight fell off, I lost over a stone in 5 weeks but since then I've had a month long stall. I can't think why (apart from hormones as my periods have stopped).
I'm eating less than 1400 cals a day (242 lbs...
I have been using an insulin pump now for 7-8 years. I recently had a diabetic review at the hospital. Within two days of that I received an insulin pump contract through the post. This is a totally new concept to me. Basically is says that if i do not achieve targets listed the pump use...
Hello, My wife conceived but we were not aware until 12 weeks, as she has PCO issue. She didn't get any other symptoms other than a delayed period. So we missed testing NT scan and other.
Now we got to know, she has a higher HbA1c of 11.6%. Doctor saying baby may get heart issue after delivery...
As the title suggests, I am a long time lurker and I have finally decided to join. I am a type 2 who was diagnosed in 2005 in my late twenties.
No doubt my diabetes was caused by my life style choice as I was overweight and at my highest being 165kg. Over the last 3 years I have dropped 38kg...
